I've had their ensaymadas throughout the years when I see them at festivals and such. I love they have different flavors to try like cinnamon or Oreo, but nothing is like the classic cheese.
Got me some delicious Ensaymadas from Smorgasburg LA this weekend. I'm always on the lookout for the Ensaymada Project whenever I am out at any type of food festival. I went to get one for myself but I couldn't quite decide on just one flavor. So I went with my gut and got their 6 piece special haha. Yes I took them home and shared with the family. No way I could have ate the all by myself. The classic will always be a favorite so I get 2. I also ordered the ube, mango, cookie crumble, and salted caramel. Perfect with coffee in the morning. Might have to make another trip this coming weekend.
I knew Ensaymada Project was something I had to try at Smorgasburg when so many in my group talked its praises and made sure to order from them as well. There were so many delicious brioche buns to choose from, including mango, cookie crumble, salted caramel and even some more savory options. The creativity really bowled me over. I ended up going with the ube. Since I was just visiting for the weekend, I only got the one, thinking I wouldn't have time to indulge in more. That was a mistake though; I should have tried several. I ended up taking my ensaymada back to my hotel with me and ate it the next morning with my breakfast. And even a day later, this was flaky, sweet, loved the ube. If I ever come across Ensaymada Project again, I will for sure order more. Until then I can at least appreciate what all the excitement is about.
Came here on recommendation from a friend, for desserts. Kindof sad that the flavors we wanted to try were not out, but we got to try some other ones. It was super hot the day we went and there is no inside seating, so we went to a park nearby and ate them there. Probably better to eat these right away, yummy but ours melted on the way to the park.
This was my first time trying ensaymadas. We got the holiday variety pack. They sent a card with pictures to identify the flavors. Some were difficult to identify. I wish there were individual sticker labels on each. The packaging was very nice. The box was sturdy with a great design. The best flavor was cinnamada! A cinnamon roll essentially. We liked all of the flavors overall. The only one we didn't eat was the mocha. None of us like coffee. They definitely taste like brioche dinner rolls with sweet toppings. I would like more topping and less bread. The bread got a little dry towards the end.
Delicious ensaymada that come in various flavors but still don't lose the flavor, texture of ensaymada! Brought them to a party and they were a hit! I've had them many times but this was my first time to the store! It's somewhat hidden from the street so set your gps when you go. It's a little row of 3-4 businesses with free parking. Our favorites were the red velvet, blue velvet and mocha.
It has been SO long since we've had Ensaymada Project so we decided to drive over after my lovely fellow Yelp Elite twin, Angela, decided to grab some as well! Haven't actually been to their physical location till today! Pretty decently sized parking lot, we got lucky to find a spot right up front. Dark windows and looks like they have a second room for storage but wasn't sure. There was an unfortunate sewage smell when we walked in, not sure if it was just today and they were having issues but we were in and outta there quick! Hopefully it was only today and they get it fixed asap because it can be a huge turn off! I honestly almost had to walk out but I held myself together surprisingly since I'm very sensitive to smells. We got a half dozen of various flavors. The mocha and salted caramel are always a must for us so we definitely got those along with some others. After paying, the nice young lady asked if we wanted some free maple bacon which we happily agreed to take! They were smaller, cupcake sized ensaymada compared to their usual and it was pure deliciousness. I'm not sure why they don't sell this size!! They really should. It's honestly the perfect little snack. Great spot and definitely a must try if you're feeling sweet or even just wanting to try a Filipino dessert! IG: @ammysalamii
What a yummy little treat! My family really enjoyed the light fluffy texture of these desserts. They melt in your mouth and I could easily see myself eating 2 or 3 if I didn't pay attention. We got red velvet, cookie butter, ube, and cinnamada. All were covered with plenty of frosting. Some, like the red velvet and cookie butter, were sprinkled with a topping as well. I think the only hesitation is the pricing. I realize that these are hand made, it seems like they use quality ingredients, and it's a small business. But $5 per treat is a little steep IMHO. There is a discount for ordering half a dozen or a dozen. I guess it's probably good that they're on the pricier side because I can easily see these as an addiction. Now we'll just save them for special occasions. They're definitely worth a try. You won't be disappointed!
My cousin from California said he had a surprise for me, & I had no idea what it was. Then I checked my mailbox and got an awesome box, opened it up and in its Fall Sparkly Ribbon found 12 ensaymadas from Ensaymada Project. This came coast to coast from California to Florida. Oh I was so excited. I didn't even want to unwrap the ribbon and open the box though. It was so pretty. I warmed up two in the microwave for about 10 seconds - original classic cheese and queso de bola. I shared half each with my hubby. I'm so nice sometimes There were seriously so good. I can see why they were my cousin's fave, & he didn't resist sending it to me for my birthday. What a great surprise. They packed them well and there are 12 to savor. They are fine to be put in the freezer and warmed up when ready to eat. I'll have to hide these in the freezer so I have them for a while. I won't be able to find anything like it so good in Tampa, FL. Thanks to my cousin and Ensaymada Project!
I remember being gifted a box of these via mail several years back but honestly I don't remember how they tasted lol (worst gift recipient ever). Fortunately I was able to recently stop by at the flagship shop! The whole array of various ensaymada flavors is right in your face upon entering the bakery. I tried a few on this visit and my personal favorite one is the mango one.....mainly because of its nostalgic taste lol. It tastes *just* like the mango-flavored Sunflower Crackers (the sandwich crackers that come in a yellow tub and are found at Filipino grocery stores) that I used to eat often as a kid. Super uncanny taste! Lol. Second favorite is the classic cheese. Boring, I know, but it's a tried-and-true flavor! Simple by design; the light salty-and-sweet taste combo is unmatched. Third favorite is the ube halaya because there is no skimping on the ube jam lol. The reason why I docked a star is because the ensaymadas are a bit stale and the base is pretty flavorless; taste is strictly dependent on the filling and frosting. It's always such a pleasurable experience when one of the bakers of the establishment is also the person serving the front counter. The baker who I interacted with here was really friendly and was more than welcome on describing the ensaymada flavors in depth. Overall very fun spins on ensaymada and this bakery is worth checking out (physically or online w/ delivery) even if you have the slightest curiosity on the flavors!
Yelp Review 2023 #135: I've had the pleasure of trying ensaymadas from Ensaymada Project. As a child, I loved these and could 2 in one sitting but I was particular about where we get them from - I don't like the dense and dry ones or the ones from big-named Filipino bakeries here in the US that have very little topping. My favorite ensaymada place is in Manila and when trying ensaymadas (they use finely grated Queso de bola), I compare all ensaymadas to that place's ensaymada. What's an ensaymada? First of all, there are two types of ensaymada: the Spanish kind that's dense and dry (which can be found in Spain and the Philippines), and the Filipino brioche kind. Sweet brioche topped with butter, sugar and cheese. But lately, you'll see Filipino bakeries getting more creative with their flavors. Ok...go on with your bad self! Ensaymada Project has about 23 flavors! That's crazy! But they still have the classic. What I've tried: Classic Cheese Queso de Bola Mocha Nutella Maple Bacon Mango They were absolutely delightful! The classic cheese and the Queso de bola brought me back to my childhood. And the other flavors brought me back to present time. The other flavors I really want to try: Thai Tea Oreo Ensaymatcha Green Tea Red Bean Ube Halaya (sweet buttery purple yam jam) Other flavors: Ube, Salted Caramel, Coconut Pandan, Red Velvet, Cookie Butter Crumble, Banana Chocolate, Berry Blue, Blue Velvet Caramel, Boston Crème, Cinnamada, Neapolitan, Quattro Formaggi Pesto, and Salted Duck Egg Queso de Bola. The service was very friendly - that's just how Filipinos are - except for me since I'm half and didn't get the friendly gene.
Small storefront that does the one thing it needs to do well... make some bomb ensaymadas. We picked up two dozen and got to try many different flavors. Problem is that it's impossible to pick a favorite... but perhaps it's not a problem since... we can just eat them all. :) I particularly enjoyed that none of them was too sweet, despite how they look. They were light, fluffy, and delightful. We took them for our families to try too and we have family from out of state asking about delivery. They were a huge hit, and I'm glad we dropped by. We'll be back! They're not cheap but are well worth the price tag.
I drove a distance to get to this place to try these beautiful delicious looking ensaymada. Gosh, how disappointed . It's a fluffy dinner rolls with a thin butter cream icing. The bread is like those you get from 99 ranch market bakery or Hawaiian dinner rolls. I bought a dozen, thinking to buy 2 more so I can share with family and friends. Glad I didn't do that. 7 pieces still in the box and no one want to eat it. Super sad.

I truly enjoyed the ube, mango, and cheese ensaymadas. I have had the pleasure of sampling ensaymadas from many Filipino bakeries. My parents, in fact, owned the very first Filipino store with a Filipino bakery in National City. Their former baker now operates several bakeries across the United States. As such, I am quite familiar with discerning between a dry ensaymada and one that is delightfully fresh. Two of the three ensaymadas I sampled were wonderfully soft and fluffy. The third was acceptable, though it was noticeably drier than the other two. I appreciated the distinct flavors, and I will certainly keep The Ensaymada Project in mind for future potlucks. Their minimada offerings would make for a unique and pleasant treat to share. read more

I was around the area and noticed the shop in google- since Im familiar with ensaymadas I definitely needed to try these. I ordered a half dozen, around $27. At first, I ate it as it was at room temp, then I noticed it was buttercream probably thats why the toppings were abit thin and has less flavor. I tried putting it in the fridge, it seemed off. Then we tried heating it up in the microwave then the flavors popped up. It's like ensaymada and a donut. It was great to try these and I recommend it if you wanted to try different varieties of ensaymadas. read more
It's been several months since I discovered this gem of a store in 626's Night Market event, but I still dream of the delectable buttery soft glory of their ensaymadas (not all the time, but still). I also regretfully never really thought to take pictures of them close up, since after I purchased one to try I ended up liking them so much I bought a bunch to take home! Then promptly forgot to take pictures of them again, because of noms. Yet even to this day they were quite memorable baked goodies from the trip and my only regret is that they're oh so far away. Folks that are lucky enough to have locall access to this lovely bakery are in for a treat and I'll be sure to keep an eye out if I'm ever back down south / when they're back up north. There wasn't really a bad flavor among the six that we got (ube, matcha, mango, red velvet, oreo, dulce de leche) and each was scrumtious in their fully decadent glory. Extremely soft in texture, nay, *pillowy soft*. The recommendation to pop them in the microwave makes a world of difference to your quality of experience, so absolutely do it. Of course these are way too rich to eat many on a regular basis, buuuuut it's not like I'll have them close enough to tempt me that often. Of course as I write this I discover they have online shipping. This is dangerous knowledge. I may be soon found in an butter/sugar-induced coma... read more
Just one bite into the soft & buttery brioche bread will have you going back for more. So many flavors to choose from! Everything is beautifully packaged. Think of ensaymadas as Filipino cupcakes that are made out of brioche bread and frosted with sweetened butter. Their store front has a mouthwatering selection of flavors--more than you'd find at Smorgasbord downtown. read more

I came across Ensaymada Project when a friend posted about them on IG. The various flavors intrigued me so I put in an order to be delivered to a friend for the holidays. Their online ordering site was easy to navigate and shipping was reasonable. When my friend received the dozen I sent her she couldn't stop raving about how good it was, which made me put in a order for a dozen ensymadas for my family. My order was delivered priority mail and was well packaged. The ensaymadas (which are soft slightly sweet brioche bread with flavored buttercream on top) are so good. Love all the flavors they offer and how the buttercream isn't too sweet. I will have to visit their storefront when I am visiting Southern California. Yum! read more
These Ensaymadas are soooo good! I have to stop and buy some when I'm in the area visiting my mom or when she comes and visits us in LA. We always ask her to bring us some, she knows not to show up to our house without them lol Our favorite flavors are the Cookie Butter Crumble, Classic Cheese, Queso de Bolla and the Mocha Nutella! The store is small but super cute!! Love this place! read more

We got the cookie butter and the ube ensaymadas. The cookie butter was not that great. It didn't really taste like cookie butter and the cheesiest of an ensaymada was missing for me. The ube ensayada was actually really good. It wasn't cheesy, but honestly the ube flavoring was spread so well on the bread, we enjoyed it read more
I ordered a bunch of the twelve-packs and six-packs as holiday gifts for clients. When I received the shipment, they came in beautifully-packaged with holiday bows in them. This was probably one of the best-tasting and best-looking gifts I have given to my clients. Much better than the Costco gift baskets or boxed chocolates I used to buy. My clients were impressed too. read more

I have come across ensaymada project in a festival several years ago and I was hooked since then. I make it a point to visit their booth in every festival I go to. My usual order is a dozen of Chari's quick pick (currently $38) as long as my favorite ube is added to it. I have also met the owner herself, Chari who's one of the sweetest ladies I've ever met. She's literally as sweet as her ensaymada. The ensaymada is very soft and freshly baked. It melts in your mouth with flavors exploding in your mouth. I have several flavors as listed below. I have tried them all and I do really love each flavor. BANANA CHOCOLATE BERRY BLUE CLASSIC CHEESE COOKIE BUTTER CRUMBLE GREEN VELVET WITH MALT BUTTERCREAM ENSAYMATCHA MANGO MAPLE BACON MOCHA NUTELLA NEAPOLITAN OREO QUESO DE BOLA RED VELVET SALTED CARAMEL UBE YOUNG COCONUT PANDAN Can't wait to see them again in any of the upcoming festivals. read more
Saw this ensaymada stall at San Mateo Foodieland and could not help but try it. I'd rank the 3 flavors I tried with the Ube as the best, cheese, then the mango. The ensaymada bread base itself was so soft, not overly sweet. It's has a moist flaky layer. The flavor is on the frosting and not mixed in dough. Kept well in the fridge even after a couple of days. The mango flavor did not complement the bread taste and texture which was surprising to me. I would definitely buy more of the ube and try the other flavors if I come across Ensaymada Project again. read more
If you haven't tried these before, you need to!!! My first time was at Smorgusberg and I just ordered some by mail for Thanksgiving. I think they came flash frozen or something for freshness. They arrived super quick and packed beautifully. They were stored in a freezer all week for freshness. They thawed out perfectly and tasted just as good as when I bought them in person! I tried a few new flavors this time and they were all fantastic. The ORIGINAL is fantastic of course! It's almost more savory. Like a bread and butter combo with a little sweetness. So good! The MOCHA NUTELLA is amaaaaazing! It had a buttercream style topping with a nice dollop of Nutella in the middle. read more

Do you know what ensaymadas are? Ensaymadas are pastries from the Philippines. Actually, they are more of a sweet bread than a pastry in my opinion. The good people at Ensaymada Project do not make them the way that I'm used to. We stopped by their shop after having lunch close by. I needed dessert, and I thought that ensaymadas would do the trick to satisfy my sweet tooth. When we arrived at the shop, I honestly thought that they were closed. There were no cars parked outside their shop, but to my delight they were open that Sunday afternoon. I was expecting the shop to be larger. When we walked in, I saw all their available flavors displayed at the counter. Did not notice anything else being sold besides their assorted flavors of ensaymadas. Was surprised with how high the prices were. It was $6 per individual ensaymada. We purchased a dozen because it came down to $4 per ensaymada when we purchased the bunch. The young man working the counter wrapped them in the box beautifully. Looked like a wonderful gift to give someone. Awesome presentation! Speaking of awesome presentation, their ensaymadas all looked terrific. Beautiful works of art!! WIfey and I purchased 12 different flavors. I believe they had about 16 flavors available to try that afternoon. Some flavors tasted really good while others were not as good as I expected. Finished the box of goodies in about 3 days. They still tasted fresh even on the third day. Was told to put them in the freezer if we did not expect to finish them within 5 days. By the way, they even ship their ensaymadas if you cannot make it to their shop Overall, I was happy to finally try what Ensaymada Project has to offer. I'm a traditional guy so I'm still more of a fan of traditional Filipino ensaymadas. The ones made here were beautiful & creative, but they were also small & expensive. I would not be a regular because I'm on a strict budget. Whenever I want to splurge or give a beautiful Filipino gift, then the goodies made here at Ensaymada Project would be an excellent option. I wish them continued success! Definitely a better option than those expensive little cupcakes made at those fancy bakeries. read more
Lots of unique flavors for both the Filipino palate and those looking to try ensaymada for the first time. Go when they first open to have the most variety of options. We got the last salted egg flavor for the day and it was barely 11am! Location is a little hidden but worth it if in the area. read more
Super surprised that I've never heard of the Ensaymada Project before... IT'S SUPER GOOD!! They take a twist on a classic Filipino pastry with their creative flavors like cookie butter, salted caramel, and mocha nutella. I received their holiday dozen as a gift from a friend. It arrived shipped in a box. I believe you order from their website, and with this type of order, you're able to select flavors to be included in the box. I was able to try the cookie butter, oreo, mango, red velvet, mocha nutella, and salted caramel flavors. All of them were amazing, but I found favorites with the cookie butter and salted caramel flavor. Fluffy brioche bread and melt in your mouth buttercream - there's no better combination than that! For a box of 12, it is $38 which is a bit pricy but you could tell the amount of effort they put in to making sure each ensaymada is of pristine quality. Definitely a great small business to support and the perfect gift for the holidays! read more

These ensaymadas are HEAVENLY. I tried them for the first time a few weeks ago at the Smorgasburg in LA and have been dreaming about them ever since. We had the queso de bola, ube, and matcha flavors. The bread is so sweet and buttery, even my Filipino parents agreed it was some of the best ensaymada they had ever had. The ube was my favorite flavor. They have over 20 flavors to choose from and the ones I want to try next are: Thai tea, banana cream and cookie crumble! I am a bit sad that they only have the Santa Clarita location and some pop-ups like Smorgasburg, which are a bit far from me in the 626. However, they do partner with a few Filipino restaurants in SoCal. I was so excited to see them at a booth with a restaurant at the West Covina Spring Festival this past weekend and was able to pick up this box of 6! Check their social media and website to see other locations they may be sold at. read more

Ensaymadas are my favorite Filipino pastry breakfast. They're gems of fluffy brioche usually topped with sweet butter and cheese. It's a great mix of sweet and salty, warmed or not and perfect paired with coffee. Ensaymada Project retains its authentic value but modernizes it and makes it better. Modernizes with a TON of different topping flavors and making it better with really keeping the dough light and fluffy. Flavors include your usual cheese but you have options - classic, Gouda or queso de bola? modern flavors include - red velvet and Oreo (both are my favorites!) and a lot more. I found them at a food festival years back and have been a patron since. I would order online, visit at Smorgasborg LA, picked up at their home. I have yet to visit their store front but will do once I get back to SoCal. I recently ordered a dozen when they had a discount code posted on their instagram. These gems freeze great and all you need is a few seconds in the microwave (without their packaging) to warm up. Thanks Chari and team for delighting us with these butter buns! read more

How much do you charge to deliver? Last time I ordered was 2018. Thanks
Ensaymadaproject.com is our website and averages $12 west coast USPS priority postage. It takes 1-2 days.
Do you have storefront in Canyon Country? I want to go there and get some flavors for tasting so I can decide which flavors to get for my event. Thanks
No storefront. Just a house. You’re welcome to stop by! People always come here to pick the available flavors to create their boxes. 14281 Wrangell.
Hi Ensaymada project, i just want to ask how much is the minimadas (box of 35)? I'll be needing it on April 22 thank you!
A big box is $70 (35 pcs) but you might want to go with regular size as the Easter orders are taking over and I might not have time to make minis. Let me know what works! Thank you! - chari
