Would you bring a latte out like this??
    Regina B.

Still sitting at brunch and couldn't wait to post. This brunch is an absolute disaster and they should stick to what they are good at. Evenings and dinners. Absolute disgrace for $85 a person. The server must have started his job 5 mins ago because I don't think he's aware of his surroundings. Hostess is calling people honey and hitting her fist on the desk arguing with a patron. Manager gave zero craps and we are about 45 mins in and still waiting for a latte and an iced tea. Do not restock the food and have no clue where to find ketchup. Shell fish and no crackers to crack them with is a big faux pas. Waiter disappeared to Denver return Edit: thank you John Steven's for comping our meal and the new latte, however it doesn't excuse the entire staff and kitchen from such disorganization and poor service. Would have left 1 star if not for you and the entertainment.

Do we loon drunk like the manager John stated ??

John the manager told me you & your Yelp review can go F--K yourself & stormed off. Rest of the review to come. My friends and I arrived around 5:20p. Sat at the bar because it's LADIES NIGHT. LADIES DRIBK FREE according to Jays restaurant. Well they LIED & it's FRAUD. You'll see in the bill I'll attach When we got the bill of $131.90 we questioned the bill. Our food bill was $50.00. We ate 1 Philly steak sandwich. 2- tempura shrimp 3- truffle. We loved the shrimp that we placed another order. We asked the bartenders about the bill. When they seemed a bit confused we asked for a manager. John appeared & immediately he seemed hostile & very defensive. He stated that ladies drink FREE, his bartenders work hard & ladies don't leave a tip. I said "well we aren't everyone & if a tip is deserved then they will get it. I added how Franco & Mateo were amazing" My friends told him I am a server & this bill is $78 in service charge when the food was $50. John stated the alcohol bill was $300+ & obviously we had too much to drink. I told him "Are you calling us drunk? He said"yes" Let me state no we are not. John continued going back & forth, meanwhile I'm the customer ME' John sagee! ' I stated how I would write my Yelp review and that's when he unprofessionally said "you and your Yelp review can go form yourself!" John stormed away & left while I was speaking. He accused us of attacking him. Not true After he stormed off the bartenders were very apologetic and stated it was not like John to act that way. Mateo & Franco also stated that John was going through a hard time because his wife ended things. I said "that is not our problem or business or anyone else's" We have Mateo our card & he stated "your bill does not exist" of course we questioned it. Mateo said "I cannot charge you because the bill is showing it does not exist John removed it" Of course I had taken a picture of the bill and we left Franco & Mateo a $65 tip. Very disappointing we asked for the owner Jay who was not there until tomorrow Friday 4/24. Will I ever go back to Jay's? Never. We don't need to be treated in this manner like pure trash.

Great steakhouse!! Amazing decor and vibes. Feels very upscale without breaking the bank. Located in a cathedral the restaurant is absolutely stunning. Huge stained windows makes us feel like you are in Chicago. We came here for the Thursday happy hour and it was great. Great selection of food. The burger is 12 dollars and really big. Ladies drink free so my wife was happy. And the Martinis are very discounted so I was happy too. And they were strong!! I recommend thus place. We will be coming back on Thursdays for date night more often!!

This is the most beautiful restaurant in south florida. I think it's located in what used to be a cathedral. The windows are sooooo beautiful. And the decor. So fancy. Looks like something made for the prohibition. Foood was delicious. They have an AMAZING happy hour on Thursday. 12 bucks for their burger. And ladies drink FREE all night. Sign me up!!!!!! Martinis are also only like 7-9 bucks during this time. We have been here twice already for date night. Such a fun fun night!!! Service is great too. The bartenders are really nice. I will be coming back here. This is my new fav happy hour spot!!

We've been here before when it was Holly Blue and was sad that it closed. We heard great things about Jays from friends who have been here so we decided to take our son here for his birthday. The inside is beautifully decorated, however the music was a bit too loud. We had to scream at each other just to talk. And the DJ seemed like he had a nervous tick, changing music every few beats. I don't think we heard one full song. He just kept switching the music and the music was all over the place. One second it was old school hip hop, the next it was pop, and then it was reggaeton, and continued in the same fashion. I will say, the wait staff was excellent. They all worked together in unison and we never had to ask for drinks or water refills. They were always on top of it. While the menu is the usual steakhouse fare, there are a few unique items, not to mention their drink names are fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, especially the lobster mac and cheese. Will definitely be back.

Returned for their happy hour and ladies night. Enjoyed it so much the first time with the steak and burger I had to bring my girls! Everything is so flavorful ! Had the mini burger this time and rock shrimp from the happy hour menu. great service with a beautiful inside. Will be returning

    City Prime Rib

I heard so much on Yelp about Jay's that I had to try it. So on Jim's birthday we went to church. Jay's replaced Holly Blue, and while the front bar and dining area looked similar, Jay's raised the sanctuary to another level with a huge bar, tables and a cute DJ on the raised altar. It was loud and hard to have a conversation so we were glad to have been seated in the front room. The crowd averaged on the younger side (to us!) looking mostly 25-35. Most were dressed for a night on the town. We had a dozen oysters as appetizers. For entrees the birthday boy chose One Great Burger, an awesome blend of wagyu and bacon. It was accompanied by enough French fries for the whole table. Rick loved his Maine Lobster Risotto. As San Francisco is my home town, and Jay's claims to emulate SF's storied House of Prime Rib, I had to try the City Prime Rib. Just like "The House" it's rolled on a trolley and sliced table-side. It was a perfect medium rare as requested, and very flavorful. Unfortunately the creamed spinach and potatoes were really too salty for my taste, and I couldn't eat them. Service was amazing and an enjoyable night out, especially with one of the best prime ribs I've had in Greater Fort Lauderdale (my second of the week because I wanted to compare)!

I was so impressed by J's. This place is beautiful, unique, and definitely one of the standout restaurants I've visited in Fort Lauderdale. The building itself has a story--our server explained that it was originally a church that was moved brick by brick from another part of Fort Lauderdale. It opened just a few months ago as J's. You can truly feel that history in the architecture. One side of the restaurant has a lively entertainment vibe with performances on certain nights, while the other side is calmer and perfect for an intimate date night. I ended up on the quieter side and it was lovely, although I really wish I had visited on a Thursday-Saturday to catch the live shows, because based on other reviews, they know how to put on a whole production. Service was excellent--knowledgeable, warm, and great with recommendations. Now... let's talk about the espresso martini. Hands down the best I've ever had. Perfectly balanced espresso flavor, not too sweet, beautifully layered, and topped with what I think was a French toast cream that just sent it over the edge. It's served in a tall, chilled martini glass and honestly? It's a whole moment. If you order a cocktail here, get that one. I wasn't super hungry that night, so I kept it light with the tuna crispy rice--which was delicious and perfectly textured--and the burrata salad. The tomatoes were surprisingly sweet and everything tasted fresh and bright. My partner ordered the steak topped with crab, and we wrapped up with a classic crème brûlée loaded with real vanilla bean. Everything was well-executed. Overall, J's is picturesque, romantic, and perfect for a date or a night out where you still want great food and ambiance. My only regret is not coming on a busier night for the live entertainment, but that just means I'll have to return the next time I'm in Fort Lauderdale. Highly recommend!

    Prime rib cart
    Carol K.

This has quickly become one of our favorite places in town to take guests because of their wonderful prime rib which everyone orders and loves! But first, a little about the place. Jays is located in an old historic church. If you you know me- you know I love repurposed old buildings and they did a great job with this one (so much nicer than when it was Holly Blue) You are warmly greeted when you walk in and then led to one of the many dining areas. There are a couple of bars one in each room as well. I'm not sure why the outdoor patio place still isn't open but once it does, that will probably be my favorite place to sit. The service is spot on. You can tell that they have done a good job training their staff and the manager always comes by and does a table touch too. Now on to the important part . . .the food! If you like prime rib (and all my midwestern relatives do) this is the place to get it. They wheel the prime rib cart out old skool style and then carve you the regular, mid size or the king's cut. A friend ordered the kings cut once night and I swear that piece of meat was 4 inches wide! The prime rib comes with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach and there is a deal on Wednesday nights as of this writing, where you get a salad, the prime rib and sides and dessert all for $65! Personally, I usually get the new york strip which is equally as tasty and I LOVE their lobster macaroni and cheese as a side. They have plenty of appetizers to start with like the shrimp tempura, tuna crispy rice and odds and end bacon which is just what it sounds like! Dinner with a couple of drinks each runs about $150 a person but for the overall experience and food it was well worth it! We live nearby so this has quickly become our "go to" when we want prime rib or a nice steak dinner. It's worth checking it out!

This place is beautiful inside. I went for ladies night and it was packed! We couldn't get seats and had to wait a while until someone got up. The bartender seemed a little overwhelmed (rightful so it was packed) but I don't like feeling that energy. Needless to say the food and drinks were good. I would recommend if you want to try something different. *took a while to find parking

Jay's is definitely a restaurant that you must try at least once. The building and details of the venue is beautiful. We had reservations for a Friday night birthday dinner so getting seated was painless. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with the fact that they seated us before our entire party was there. Once seated our server Tristian was amazing from beginning to end. He was very patient and recommended a lot of his favorite things on the menu. He even gave us a complimentary tour of the restaurant. Tristan if you ever see this, you were definitely a highlight of the experience. On to the food. I truly expected to be blown away especially for the price. The complimentary bread was delicious and surprisingly crispy. I enjoyed my drink but my husband didn't like his Long Island. The oysters were delicious I wish we ordered more. The lobster mac and cheese was very underwhelming. Again for the price it was not worth it because it felt like they mixed some pasta and cheese and threw some lobster on top. The creamy spinach was super runny. It was honestly better on my oysters than as a side. Now the true star of the show. The ribeye was chef kiss delicious. Overall, I'm glad I got to try this restaurant. Crossing it off the bucket list.

This place has an opportunity to be a 5 but, unfortunately, it doesn't get to that level and there are some things to work on. 1) Was the food good? Yes. But it wasn't as good as the price suggests compared to restaurants of the same price range. Some dishes were fantastic but some were just average. 2) the staff is very nice and accommodating. However, they are not as trained and they do not behave as staff in upper-scale restaurants like this one. Example: Carbone and their staff, or Cipriani and their staff. They aren't bad and they aren't making mistakes, but they do not act like the level of restaurant suggests if that makes sense. 3) Inconsistent portion sizes. Some portions are massive but some are regular sized and it is very unpredictable. I'd rather get better quality smaller-sized portion than an entree sized side. Overall, it was not bad, but I do not see myself coming back because Miami and Ft Lauderdale has a lot of other options and nothing really captured me here to make me want to come back.

Dine Out FTL experience. Pre-Fix Menus $45. Tue-Thurs & Sundays ONLY! Ambiance: STUNNING 11/10- decor = immaculate, absolutely stunning. Service: AMAZING!!!!! Our server was so sweet- got everything we needed right away! For the pre-fix menu, for the starters, I chose the Lobster Oreganata! Maine Lobster, Roasted Garlic Butter, Oreganata, And my cousins chose the Signature Duck Fat Potato Wedges/Rosemary Aioli, Parmesan, Parmesan/shaved black truffle. Both were super duper great options. Can't go wrong with either of them. Main entrees we all chose the prime rib 8.5/10- it was overally salty, however, with the mash potatoes & creamed spinach - great pairing and is included wiith your meal- so it balances out. We had the salted caramel cheesecake & key lime' both tasty options!!! We had a fabulous time. I was obsessed with the decor. Everything overall was up to par. So glad I got to try this place. Definitely photo OP worthy. From the interior to the exterior = immaculate!! TOTD: Make sure to let them know you want the Dine Out FTL menu. It's a separate menu attached in the photos.

Sidecar Speakeasy was the play... The speakeasy entrance was hidden in a hallway you can walk right by without even noticing. I dig it. Once inside, it's dark. Most of the light is coming from the light showcasing the bottles in the bar. The seating is a little tight as they're trying to maximize space for such a small area. We visited here twice during my visit: We sat at a table and a bar. You have the perfect amount of space for your party, but you're pretty close to the next table or bar seat. No claustrophobic vibes though. All the mixologists were great during both visits. One visit, we ordered their signature cocktails from the menu. When we sat at the bar, we had the mixologist surprise with a cocktail off the menu. He just asked what kind of liquor vibe we wanted, and he took it from there. He was super creative with every cocktail which made for a great time. They stayed upon until midnight one one visit and until 1 am on the other one. Both my visits were on a weekday. Everything came out piping hot, quickly, and you can tell the food and drinks are really thoughtfully crafted. What stood out most, though, was the customer service. The three main staff members Drew, Mel, and Darian (I think?) were incredible. Every single one of them went above and beyond for every guest the entire time. When we arrived, there were just a couple tables outside, but once it started raining, they seamlessly accommodated everyone inside without missing a beat. The vibe is such a cool mix, neighborhood spot meets speakeasy meets tiki with a slightly elevated feel, but still super comfortable. Everyone in the place seemed to know each other or quickly became friends. The music was great, and by 7:30 the live entertainment started, he was funny, engaging, and talented. We got there just in time to catch the tail end of happy hour for our first drink, and from there it just kept getting better. Drew, the bartender, even went out of his way to make me a specialty drink I had seen on Yelp that's no longer on the menu, such a thoughtful touch. There's also food to entice your tastes buds, but why waste real estate when you're in Room Nine01. All in all, I highly recommend them. Room Nine01 is perfect for dates, or that perfect extra something any celebration might need.

The drinks and food are top notch. Very cool atmosphere inside (and they have an outdoor area, after all this is south Florida). Low lighting with incredibly high ceilings and huge lighting shades - lots of tables around couches, tables and a bar. We were headed to the Broward Center and we decided to get dinner prior to the show. The Wilder has a good cocktail menu, and they're made very well. The Cosmo was good, the Old Fashioned was excellent. They have a small wine list. Foodwise, the short rib empanada (two orders) was great with the birria juice, char siu ribs were great (a light crisp and very tasty), the zucchini carpaccio was excellent with a tower of baby arugula and grated parmesan stacked on top of thinly sliced zucchini. My favorite dish was the mango habanero aguachile (with shrimp and a slight kick with tartness). The stracciatella with red grapes and crostini was good, too. The Yuca Frita was delicious, thick-sliced with an aioli. Our bar tender was great and the servers were very good. My only slight ding was the music - a bit too bassy and repetitive.

I loved the look of the restaurant and the music was amazing, they were playing a lot of throwbacks! our server was so sweet, the food came out really fast, and the plating of the food was super fancy and cute. The food itself was very good and my favorite by worthy Caccio E Pepe croquettes. two people I was with the French 75 and they said they were absolutely delicious. The burlesque shows were super fun! Overall, we had a great experience! Don't forget to bring cash for tips to the burlesque dancers and keep in mind that the actual surface area that you have to eat on is pretty limited as the tables are very small.
