    Masala Dosa

Delicious Gobi and dosa! The Gobi has a nice crunch and is served with mint chutney. The sambar is delicious and has plenty of depth! The dosa was nice and crispy. I felt like the potatoes could have used more of a kick but that's personal preference. The service is great and the staff is very friendly! The decor is nice but the food is excellent!

Best place ever. Best Indian food ever. Good vibes and good service. I would recommend this place to anyone.

What a wonderful little hole in the wall. Packed away in a little strip mall, near a pizza place and a Chinese takeout is Jaya's Kitchen, a South Indian restaurant. While they do have pan-Indian staples like various tikka masalas, you'll find variants -- such as parota instead of naan -- that you may not find at your local Indian place. Be aware of that. That being said, don't let that stop you. You'll find your usual favorites and more. I got a biryani dish (Hyderabadi egg biryani), which was nice and spicy, full of spice and flavor, and three hard-boiled eggs that were bright orange. It was enough for two, or for one hungry man. My girlfriend got the paneer tikka masala, which she ordered medium but found to be quite mild, though still delicious. Parota is bread, though flat, thicker, and in the case of the gobi variety, made with cauliflower. We bill came to $35 for two meatless entrees and a side, though it's worth noting they offer a 10% discount if you pay in cash.

Jaya's has finally brought outstanding Indian fare to Wallingford. There has been a drought in the area since Zaika departed North Haven a few years ago. Service is immediate and the bottles of water are already on the tables waiting for you... and you'll need it! Like true South Indian Cuisine all the spice is there, but does NOT overwhelm the home cooked flavors of the food. My chicken was sooo tender, probably the most tender i've ever had in an Indian restaurant. Definitely a must try.

Went her for the first time last night and am already making plans to return. First thing to know: this is a BYOB establishment! Second thing to know: you save 10% on the bill if you pay with cash. Our waiter was a friendly gentleman named Suriya. We literally wanted to try everything; without his advice, we would have over-ordered even more extremely than we did! For all of us, our favorite dish was the Chicken 65. It was cooked perfectly, the seasoning was complex and delicious, and the cilantro dipping sauce was the perfect complement. My husband had the chicken tiki masala, which he described as perfect. I enjoyed the chana masala, which was spicy to the perfect degree. One of the things I was most impressed by is that there are so many vegetarian options available. Go, go, go, my friends. You won't be disappointed.

3rd time was yesterday and we just keep ordering different dishes from the menu. We off course ordered the medu vada, my 3 year old demolished the Topi (hat) dosa, the bigger kids had a large masala dosa and a Poori Baji. The Mrs and I shared the Ambur biryani which was absolutely delicious. Instead of chicken 65 we also ordered chicken wings65. They were piping hot when they came out and we're so good the kids insisted we order another plate. They were pretty busy and other than the duplicate wings order all the food came out together pretty quickly. I've so far loved all food here, on every visit, and am very impressed with the consistent quality of authentic taste across the variety of South Indian plates Jaya's has to offer.

It's great to have authentic south Indian food in Wallingford. Jaya's hasn't been open long and it's clearly drawing a lot of people. I ordered around 6:20pm on a Saturday night and they had several customers inside, and a few more take out orders. No delivery at this time. SERVICE: Calling in our order was easy and straightforward. The website is also well-designed and simple to navigate. My husband and I were told our takeaway order would be ready in 25 minutes, but it ended up being a full hour. At first we were a little hangry about it but tried to be understandable since it's a new place. We thought the food would need to be really good to make up for it. And sure enough it was! FOOD: The malabar chicken curry was really comforting with the perfect blend of spices. Hubs got the goat tikka masala and it, too, was really good - I just had to taste it. Since our order was waiting a while the paneer and cauliflower apps were cold, but still really flavorful even reheated. Parota is now my new favorite starchy pleasure thanks to Jaya's kitchen.

This was my first time trying Indian food, ever. Many of the locals have posted on Facebook to try this place, which lured me in pretty quickly. The staff was attentive and answered questions thoroughly. The waiters seemed a little disorganized and noncommunicative with each other when an item we had ordered was unavailable but we were still charged (they took care of it). I could not believe how tasty the food was! My table ordered the Devil's Chicken at medium spice. This dish was so flavorful and yummy! I could only have a couple bites. We also ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, chicken fried rice, parota, and Hyderabadi Chicken Briyani. All of the dishes tasted so good and the parota paired well with each dish. I will definitely be returning!! Very clean store! We went at lunch time so the vibes were pretty relaxed. There were lots of takeout orders while we were there!

As someone…read morefrom South India, it is rare to find food that actually tastes like home--but this place nails it. The kind of food that makes you pause mid-bite and just nod. The space is small and simple--people are here for one reason only: serious, no-nonsense deliciousness. Alex, Siva, and the team are fantastic--super welcoming and always happy to guide you. They even offer two spice styles (American and Indian), each with mild, medium, and spicy. Choose wisely... or bravely. The usual dishes like tikka masala are great, but the real magic is in the South Indian menu. If you are not sure what to order, just ask--they will not steer you wrong. We have also started ordering catering for parties, and let me tell you--nothing validates food like a room full of very judgmental Indian relatives going back for seconds and thirds. At our last event, the quiet "this is really good" nods said everything. We ordered chicken Chettinad, salmon curry, aloo gobi, goat biryani, and garlic naan--every single dish was outstanding. The only tragedy? Not enough leftovers for the next day. And do not skip the filter coffee. One sip, eyes closed, and you are instantly transported home, even if it's for a little while. Moringa team--keep doing exactly what you are doing. Love it!!

She loved her butter chicken and I enjoyed my Palak (Saag) Paneer and naan very much. Moringa is well worth it. They have great food with polite and helpful staff. I grew up in the UK and I've eaten in most Indian restaurants in the state so I'm pretty well versed in the cuisine and know what I want. The onion bhaji appetizers were ok ... too much chick pea batter and not enough onions, they really need the sauces from the complimentary poppadoms to lighten them up! The fish tikka masala was DELICIOUS if just a touch oily, but was salmon not the tilapia some places use, and not breaded or coated with anything which is a plus for me! The Chicken pitia was also really good with the mango part of the sauce drizzled over the top which was a nice touch! Basmati rice was plentiful, and the garlic naan was perfectly crispy buttery with fresh chopped garlic and cilantro - just the way I expect! The other reason for the dropped star is the absolutely miserable servers! The maitre D was pleasant but the actual table staff were grumpy and one of the two literally barely said two words! Not even "you're welcome" to our "thank yous!" Would go again if I was in the area but would'nt drive 30 minutes when we have a rockstar Indian place (Moringa), in Waterbury!

If you enjoy the flavors of Indian food as well as one of those quick service, hot chicken restaurants you probably would enjoy Hot Murga. The chicken sandwich comes in five spice levels from no heat to super hot. I got the standard hot, and it has some kick, but it wasn't overpowering. Then again I enjoy spicy food. I also ordered their spiced mac & cheese. Again, not spicy at all, but flavorful. Also a good portion as I have leftovers for later. I had my food delivered, but this establishment is close to the Yale campus and street parking can be a bit tricky on Howe St. and around Broadway. I've been inside of the space once when it was a different restaurant some years ago, it's not a large space, but I'm pretty sure comfortable if you decided to dine in. If you ever find yourselves at a crossroad between wanting Chick-fil-A and Indian food, this would be a great alternative.
