Best place ever. Best Indian food ever. Good vibes and good service. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Delicious Gobi and dosa! The Gobi has a nice crunch and is served with mint chutney. The sambar is delicious and has plenty of depth! The dosa was nice and crispy. I felt like the potatoes could have used more of a kick but that's personal preference. The service is great and the staff is very friendly! The decor is nice but the food is excellent!

Now I am sure this is not chicken.

What a wonderful little hole in the wall. Packed away in a little strip mall, near a pizza place and a Chinese takeout is Jaya's Kitchen, a South Indian restaurant. While they do have pan-Indian staples like various tikka masalas, you'll find variants -- such as parota instead of naan -- that you may not find at your local Indian place. Be aware of that. That being said, don't let that stop you. You'll find your usual favorites and more. I got a biryani dish (Hyderabadi egg biryani), which was nice and spicy, full of spice and flavor, and three hard-boiled eggs that were bright orange. It was enough for two, or for one hungry man. My girlfriend got the paneer tikka masala, which she ordered medium but found to be quite mild, though still delicious. Parota is bread, though flat, thicker, and in the case of the gobi variety, made with cauliflower. We bill came to $35 for two meatless entrees and a side, though it's worth noting they offer a 10% discount if you pay in cash.

Jaya's has finally brought outstanding Indian fare to Wallingford. There has been a drought in the area since Zaika departed North Haven a few years ago. Service is immediate and the bottles of water are already on the tables waiting for you... and you'll need it! Like true South Indian Cuisine all the spice is there, but does NOT overwhelm the home cooked flavors of the food. My chicken was sooo tender, probably the most tender i've ever had in an Indian restaurant. Definitely a must try.

Went her for the first time last night and am already making plans to return. First thing to know: this is a BYOB establishment! Second thing to know: you save 10% on the bill if you pay with cash. Our waiter was a friendly gentleman named Suriya. We literally wanted to try everything; without his advice, we would have over-ordered even more extremely than we did! For all of us, our favorite dish was the Chicken 65. It was cooked perfectly, the seasoning was complex and delicious, and the cilantro dipping sauce was the perfect complement. My husband had the chicken tiki masala, which he described as perfect. I enjoyed the chana masala, which was spicy to the perfect degree. One of the things I was most impressed by is that there are so many vegetarian options available. Go, go, go, my friends. You won't be disappointed.

3rd time was yesterday and we just keep ordering different dishes from the menu. We off course ordered the medu vada, my 3 year old demolished the Topi (hat) dosa, the bigger kids had a large masala dosa and a Poori Baji. The Mrs and I shared the Ambur biryani which was absolutely delicious. Instead of chicken 65 we also ordered chicken wings65. They were piping hot when they came out and we're so good the kids insisted we order another plate. They were pretty busy and other than the duplicate wings order all the food came out together pretty quickly. I've so far loved all food here, on every visit, and am very impressed with the consistent quality of authentic taste across the variety of South Indian plates Jaya's has to offer.

It's great to have authentic south Indian food in Wallingford. Jaya's hasn't been open long and it's clearly drawing a lot of people. I ordered around 6:20pm on a Saturday night and they had several customers inside, and a few more take out orders. No delivery at this time. SERVICE: Calling in our order was easy and straightforward. The website is also well-designed and simple to navigate. My husband and I were told our takeaway order would be ready in 25 minutes, but it ended up being a full hour. At first we were a little hangry about it but tried to be understandable since it's a new place. We thought the food would need to be really good to make up for it. And sure enough it was! FOOD: The malabar chicken curry was really comforting with the perfect blend of spices. Hubs got the goat tikka masala and it, too, was really good - I just had to taste it. Since our order was waiting a while the paneer and cauliflower apps were cold, but still really flavorful even reheated. Parota is now my new favorite starchy pleasure thanks to Jaya's kitchen.

The menu offers a very broad list of Regional Indian Cuisine. Lamb, goat, chicken, seafood, variety of basmati rices and biryani, vegetarian dishes, dosa, tandoori, curries, Indo Chinese, a dozen different types of naan and kulchas. The four stars are for the food only. We tried the cilantro, chicken soup and the onion PAKODA, fritters, which were outstanding, the Indo Chinese vegetable fried rice was excellent, Kodi vapudu very spicy dry rub with green chilies. It was a bit different than I've had before with the addition of cashews and dark meat instead of white meat, but it was spicy and good. Ambiance is basic with fun Bollywood movies and music in the background and on the TV, clean and organized. But apparently they do a ton of takeout rather than dine in. The service was by the the owner who was incredibly friendly, very hospitable, enthusiastic about the regional cuisine and very knowledgeable about all of the dishes and their preparation.

My son and daughter picked everything up, brought it home, and even set it out buffet-style before the rest of us arrived. I tried the gobi manchurian, garlic naan, malai kofta and vegetable jalfrezi. The malai kofta and jalfrezi came with basmati rice. The gobi manchurian and the malai kofta were excellent. The jalfrezi was overly oily and salty - do not recommend. The server was efficient, though not super friendly. The ambiance was elegant, but reminded me of Indian restaurants in the US from the 80s - plenty of South Asian brick a brac of dubious quality, white tablecloths, and generic Bollywood instrumental music. I haven't tried enough Indian restaurants in the area to be able to tell if there are better ones in the area. I would however recommend getting a mix of heavy and light dishes instead of exclusively heavy ones.

If you enjoy the flavors of Indian food as well as one of those quick service, hot chicken restaurants you probably would enjoy Hot Murga. The chicken sandwich comes in five spice levels from no heat to super hot. I got the standard hot, and it has some kick, but it wasn't overpowering. Then again I enjoy spicy food. I also ordered their spiced mac & cheese. Again, not spicy at all, but flavorful. Also a good portion as I have leftovers for later. I had my food delivered, but this establishment is close to the Yale campus and street parking can be a bit tricky on Howe St. and around Broadway. I've been inside of the space once when it was a different restaurant some years ago, it's not a large space, but I'm pretty sure comfortable if you decided to dine in. If you ever find yourselves at a crossroad between wanting Chick-fil-A and Indian food, this would be a great alternative.

Honestly, I didn't think the Murga Sandwich itself had too much flavor - the fry was good and the chicken was juicy & crispy, it was just a lacking seasoning and even "hot" was not super spicy. The spice itself also tasted very one dimensional - just spicy, with no seasoning. Overall, I was a bit disappointed by the sandwich itself, but would be interested in trying some of their other sauces. The Badmaash Mac & Cheese was the redeeming item of the meal though - this is basically a Mac & Cheese, covered in tikka sauce & their spicy sauce, and topped with fried chicken. It's definitely a unique flavor, and I think the tikka masala sauce went really well with the cheesy mac texture. Definitely seems like the kind of late night out comfort craving, because it is super heavy. p.s. - pro tip, the sandwich itself is $12 but the sliders are $6 and definitely larger than half of a sandwich (probably closer to 2/3rds). So I'd get 2 sliders for $12 instead of a sandwich.
