I went to the store about six years ago at their prior location. It was a terrible experience…read morebecause the person who was assisting me could not find bras that fit me and tried to convince me that they are supposed to be uncomfortable.. I told her that I could not wear what I was trying on because it was painful and she said that I would just have to deal with it. A couple of weeks ago I was walking by the store at its new location and I thought perhaps it would be a different situation with different people inside. Because I am a larger size they could not find any bras that fit me that were Wireless. I do not wear underwire bras to protect my health. The sales person behind the counter who helped me was very kind and dug around in the back to bring me things to try on. At one point, I was wearing a bra that she thought would fit me based on the size that I told her I was, and I showed her how I was coming out all over the place and told her I needed a larger size. She excused herself and went and got someone else. And I am pretty sure this is the Owner or Manager and most likely the same cruel person I encountered years before. This person started to argue with me about how I could not have another size. And I said I needed a larger size and the first sales person looked at the other one asking permission if she can get me a larger size and then that one, the manager or whatever again tries to talk me out of it. It was as if I needed permission to go up to a larger size. This store is useless if you are in the larger size realm. I will never go back again and I look forward to finding a place where I can get an actual fitting like I did in New York years ago from a French bra shop, which was spot on and perfect the first time with many options.

He stormed over and started laying into me and my husband that we're not allowed to use cell phones. I showed it to him and explained that it's not a phone and medical equipment. He told me that I'm not allowed to have a phone in the store and I need to give it to him. He told me I can get it back when we leave with a purchase. I was very happy shopping there and absolutely plan to return. Prices are very fair for the quality and 100% in line with (or better than) other stores of this kind. Staff was super friendly and I felt very comfortable -- not always a given when you're standing in your underwear, talking to a stranger! Expect Lace has sizes that run up to 42J in store, but can easily order larger sizes as needed. Given the number of variables with bras (style + band + cup + color), it's hard for any store to keep every single option stocked, but Expect Lace does an excellent job of making sure they have enough to make things work. And if, say, you find the right bra but in the wrong color? They can order and ship the one you want to your house -- FOR FREE! Music to my ears. In addition, once you shop there, they keep a record of what you bought. So in my case, my file shows that I bought a certain bra in a specific size, but also notes what other stuff was working for me. I love this because it means I can just contact them and say, "I want that same thing but in purple," and they can make it happen. One thing to note (and the reason I knocked them down a star): It is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find out what time this store is open. I checked Yelp, Google, and Instagram and they all gave me a different story. I called the number and no one answered, but the voicemail said to make an appointment, which I did. (And it's not just me -- another customer came in and had the same question while I was being helped.) Apparently they've just got a lot of stuff going on right now and limited staff so sometimes the hours need to flex, but knowing for sure when they were open would've gotten me there a lot sooner and being able to drop in during known open hours would've been easier for me than scheduling an appointment. ps. Also parking is a pain but that's just Manayunk!

I am utterly amazed at the staff's professionalism and ability to put at ease even a plus-sized, long-term-undergarment-phobic like me. The fitting took 60 seconds and then I explained my requirements for every day (no itchy lace plus extreme comfort with enough support to keep my back from hurting), and what I need for a special event dress (support you cannot see; comfort optional). Dana brought me many different options for both scenarios, which, to the extent I was comfortable with it, she helped me to try on and adjust. Very quickly I became so comfortable that she helped me the whole time. Dana is fabulous but relatively new, and so a wonderful expert verified everything she did. They explained to me the different bra styles and what they do, as well as UK vs US sizing etc. It was a terrific experience. Ultimately I chose a $56 strapless for the event dress, and for every day, I picked two $99 each Evelyn Bobbie sports-bra variations and a $65 Emoli underwire for the every day occasions when I need to dress less casually. So. For $317 I got: 1. An expert fitting in a private setting 2. Two hours of un-rushed selection and fit assistance plus education from incredible ladies who both know their stuff and understand the "ick" factor. 3. Two everyday comfort bras that fit well. 4. One "dress a little better" every day bra. 5. One strapless bra for the event dress. When I was checking out, there was a woman of about 40 at the register next to me who had driven 85 miles for their services. The checkout staff said "yes we have people who come from all over". I bought some pretty new dresses, and I could wear none of them because I did not have bras that would work with those dresses. I was not even sure of my proper size anymore, and knew it was time to finally be fitted properly for a bra. I made an appointment online with Linda's Bra Salon. It took us one hour to get there, and it was totally worth it. My fitter, Lori, put me completely at ease. She was professional, compassionate, knowledgeable and funny. She made me feel very comfortable when she was measuring me and helping me trying on bras. She said that most women wear the wrong bra size, and I was most definitely one of them. She helped me try on a lot of bras, and found the perfect bra that would work with the new dresses. (I brought the dresses with me to the fitting so I could try them on with the bras). I ended up buying 5 bras. No hard sell. The bras are beautiful, they feel so comfortable, and I ended up wearing one of them out of the store.
