Tom is the absolute best, and I don't say that lightly. He is highly knowledgeable, logical, fair,…read morefriendly, and most importantly, honest and trustworthy. I own an older home with a lot of plumbing issues. There were several problems for which previous plumbers either did not have any answers or did quick and low-quality work just to get paid. This poor work eventually and expectedly led to the problem recurring and requiring more work. In a way, these recurring problems were a blessing in disguise because it led us to Tom and Legato Plumbing. Tom immediately fixed those problems with great care and skill. The problems have not recurred. The best part about it is that throughout the entire process, Tom was transparent about cost, and it quickly became apparent that Tom was not trying to gouge me. In fact, he was trying his best to find ways to save me money. I immediately felt an immense feeling of trust for Tom, not only as a plumber, but as a person. So, when my home required more plumbing work, I immediately called Tom and felt 100% comfortable having Tom enter my home and do work while nobody was home. Again, Tom went about his work with great skill, care and transparency. And again, he was honest with me and told me what needed work immediately and what could wait. He could have easily told me that everything needed to be done immediately (like a lot of plumbers do) and gotten more money from me. But he was sensitive to my finances and situation and only did what needed to be done at the moment. I hope I never need plumbing work done again, but as old as my house is, I know I will. When that time comes, I am definitely calling Tom and Legato Plumbing. I will not use any other plumber as long as Legato Plumbing is in business. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Short version: at least three other plumbers recommended "fixes" that ran anywhere from thousands, to a total replacement (~$5,000). Tom took the time to diagnose the problem, get on the phone with Rinnai, think through the problem with me. In the end, his fee was ridiculously reasonable for the time he put in. Extremely pleased.

EDIT: I changed my review from 5 stars to 3 I made it clear…read morethat this was an emergency. Ram was very nice to talk to, but the problem is - I made it CRYSTAL CLEAR that we needed a second opinion THIS WEEKEND, before HOA comes back on Monday and seals up the walls. Ram made it sound like a plumber would be easily available, so I stopped looking for other plumbers to come out and give us that second opinion. Well, it's Sunday late afternoon, and when I called back, the person I spoke with this time said they're really booked up and Ram should NOT have given that expectation. This is so f-ed. If I had known they were not available, I would've had more realistic expectations and looked for other plumbers to come out instead. In the future, please give REALISTIC expectations even if it's negative. People build their schedules/planning around what you say! It would've been much more helpful if he straight up told me their schedule looks busy, so if I want someone for the weekend, I should try another company, because then I can actually work with that info. ************************************* Original review: We're dealing with a complicated water leak in a high rise condo and I have so many questions! Even without actually hiring them (yet?), RAM was patient and spoke with me for ages, answering all my questions. That alone is stellar customer service, as some of the other calls I made have felt a bit rushed (I don't blame them, everyone is busy and I'm not a customer yet). But his kindness and knowledgeable answers have given me a strong first impression of this company. I also appreciate the free estimate they offered. Plumbing issues are stressful, and it's nice to speak with someone who's professional, knowledgeable, and kind.

I then hired two other plumbers to come out and snake it, and neither was successful. One of them even told me I needed to redo a good portion of my plumbing for over $5,000! I found Rock Solid Drains after that, and they told me that all they do is unclog drains and that they have the equipment necessary to clear difficult washer/utility sink drain clogs. John from their team came out and within about 15-30 minutes had run a snake through our washing machine drain line, cleared the blockage, and had our plumbing working exactly as it should again. These guys are great if you have a drain clog that you can't clear yourself or that a normal plumber doesn't have the right equipment to handle. They solved a problem that two other plumbers couldn't, and did it for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend Rock Solid Drains. John was great to work with, and I'm very glad we called them before spending thousands of dollars unnecessarily!

I called Precision because of the Yelp ratings, and I am glad I did. From the start they were quick, professional, understood the problem, and excellent at fixing it. That was blessedly fast! Ray's approach was logical and skilled. He first tried a cable rooting but eventually wound up having to come inside the garage and hydrojetting the clog. All along he explained what he was doing and why he needed to try another approach. He was informative, friendly, professional, AND got the sewer unclogged! My kitchen sink was clogged for about 1 week since having a 75ft snake through a promotional…read moreplumbing service (not disclosing what company lol) did not work (it had stopped maybe 50ft in and while being retracted, lots of black sludge flew out). During that time, I had broken some copper fitting pipe parts underneath the sink so I did not put them back together to make sure it worked. Luckily, things happened for a reason so I bought new hard plastic pipes to replace everything but water was still slowly flowing out of my dual kitchen sink. I remembered the person who did the snake mentioned it might be time to get a new mainline pipe which meant breaking the walls and slab since I don't have a crawl space equating to 15-20K or an epoxy pipe lining to make it good as new again for 8K; I have no money for any of that so I googled "best ways to unclog a kitchen sink if 75ft snake fails" and was recommended hydro-jetting from AI. I then searched hydro-jetting Livermore and was recommended Diablo Hydro-Jetting immediately on my mobile phone where I was able to view both their website and Yelp reviews before calling 925-277-0200 on a Sunday evening. Fortunately, Jeff answered my call even while eating dinner who reassured me that he was 100% sure that my kitchen sink can be unclogged since they can blast it up to 500ft and if there were to be any complications that the competitive pricing comes with the drain inspection camera as needed. I truly appreciate Jeff's Team; Jose and Alex for taking on this difficult task. Jose was hydro-jetting my kitchen sink while communicating with Alex who was controlling the unit by the van. Initially, Jose and I feared that the black sludge would appear since pushing water with water and it was in fact what had happened where it was caught in a big metal container underneath the kitchen sink. Jose immediate told Alex to turn off the unit and requested to get the portable compact hydro-jet vac to clean out the container before resetting then restarting a 2nd time from the top with the vac on to catch everything as it goes. Then with some luck, we were able to hear the water flowing after it was unclogged, the sound of success! Jose then proceeded to check my cleanout area which was located outside of my house, opened it and made sure that the same sound we heard in the kitchen was heard there as well. And to ensure that my kitchen pipes were clean, Jose went ahead and did the hydro-jetting a couple more times just in case and even had Alex bring cleaning solutions to help wipe away some black sludge that flew to the side of the cabinet wall. The whole process took about 1hr and the invoice has a limited 90day service warranty guaranteeing against future clogs from reoccurring. This was the best investment I made highly recommended and I am very grateful for Jeff, Jose and Alex; they never upsold me anything and they truly are professionals in the field strictly hydro-jetting and nothing else, established in 1994 with over 32yrs of experience! Thank you once again Jeff from Gordon, my kitchen sink is flowing like Jeff Gordon the NASCAR champ!

Before our appointment window, they texted me a picture of Ryan so I could be sure of who I was letting into my home. First, they took two days to get back to me on a problem that was on-going (toilet would not stop running) When they did, they sent a techniciant (Lazlo) who was curt and tried to upsale me. For example : He said it would tak $600 to fix, and when I asked him how much to just replace the toilet, he said $1300. Money is tight, and he showed no empathy in that regard. He told me he would need to be paid immediately, rather than sending me an invoice. And he was not friendly, or particulary sympathic to the cost I may be facing. He said he had to pull out the toilet to repair it, and the labor of that and replacing it would be a lot of money. I let him go, and called Advanced plumbing. They were here in a matter of hours (vs the two day wait from Discount) , came and fixed the problem without pulling out the toilet, to a total charge of $300. I've learned over time that a lot of these guys are trying to scam you and run up the bill. My advice is to shop around, and certainly don't deal with a serviceman who is less than professional, trying to increase your spending, and generally gives you a bad impression. Obviously, Discount plumbine (a misnomer) is off my list.
