Super cute little coffee shack! It's in the middle of random office buildings but was a good find if you're looking for a drive thru coffee shop off the 805N. The service was great. The friendly barista customized our fall drinks to be non-dairy and how cool that they make their own syrups and flavors to give it a fresher flavor. Highly recommend!

This is one of my absolute favorite spots! Joy is the sweetest person and so dedicated to making this place the standout spot that it is. I would go out of my way to make it here, not only for the amazing coffee and Açaí Bowl but also the incredible staff! Make sure you stop by!

Joy bringing our favorite drink the caramel macchiato!!

Joy absolutely lives up to her name. My partner and I just discovered this gem and now it's our favorite place. If you haven't tried Java shack you are missing out big time!!

    Protein smoothie

This place is perfect! This is my third day in a row going here with my friends and we've had the protein smoothie, pj&j smoothie, london fog, carmel macchiato, chocolate croissant, acai bowl (and pretty much every thing on the menu we've tried). The service here is so fast and friendly! Definitely check this place out!

Cool little drive-thru place for a quick and delicious cup of whatever perks you up! If you're nearby, it's worth a stop and might become part of your morning routine. Every drink I've had here has been great. I love that it's so fast and the prices are reasonable. Also, be sure to get a loyalty card so you can earn free drinks! Something else that makes this worth the stop is the florist who sets up shop right next door, so you get a fresh beverage and a fresh bouquet in one easy stop!

It really feels like going to a shave ice place in Japan. There are maybe about 8 tables inside that can fit between 2-4 people. There are also a couple of seats by the register. Each table has a unique decoration. Service: There's both a digital and paper menu and then you order up front. Both times, I have waited about 20-30 minutes. It's quite a long wait for 1 shave ice but when you get your order, you can see why it takes that long since they put some detail in it. Food: I believe they change their menu, not sure how often. Both times I ordered from their specials menu and they were so delicious, the ice was soft, and their toppings complemented each other well. One shave ice is enough for 2 people, especially after dinner. Highly recommend Ko-Li for a different kind of sweet treat!

I ordered a large Sunset Beach shave ice.  Ice was incredibly fluffy and soaked up the syrup so it didn't drain to the bottom.  Flavors were passion orange, mango, and guava.  It was fruity and delicious.  My favorite shave ice in town. 2nd visit I tried the Citrus Squeeze which consisted of lime, pink lemonade, and lemon.  Once again I was impressed by how fine and fluffy the ice was.  Lime was a blast of sour lime flavor.  Pink lemonade tasted just like a pink lemonade, and lemon was a mix of sweetness with lots of sour lemon flavor.  Great flavor combination. I discovered you can buy pints of Lappert's Hawaiian ice cream.  I bought 2 pints for $11 each. Kauai Pie consisted of rich creamy kona coffee ice cream with Hawaiian macadamia nuts, shredded and toasted coconut and dark chocolate fudge.  This ice cream was thick, rich and decadent. Vanilla bean was rich and creamy with a bold vanilla bean flavor.  One of my favorite vanilla ice creams. Staff was friendly, helpful, and efficient.  Hope they get more flavors of Lappert's ice cream as Palm Springs is where I usually have to go for Lappert's.

The bingsoo ice itself was super light and fluffy, not too sweet either which is totally my thing. My friends went for the strawberry bingsoo and nutella taiyakis and they were obsessed. No complaints at all. The spot wasn't packed when we showed up, the space is actually pretty roomy with tons of seating, and the service was fast too like no waiting around forever. Finally got to try this cute Japanese cafe we saw on TikTok, and it did not disappoint!…read more Service: [5/5] The two girls who helped us were so sweet and made the whole experience. We were seated at the bar, which ended up being such a vibe--we got to chat with the girl behind the bar and watch her make lattes and desserts right in front of us. That kind of interaction really sets this place apart. Price: [4.5/5] It's on the pricier side, but honestly it feels fair given the quality of food you're getting. You can taste where your money is going. Food/Drinks: [5/5] Matcha Latte -- We shared one, extra sweet at my request, and it was perfect. Exactly what I was hoping for. Chef Soichi's Karaage -- We had this as an appetizer and my boyfriend made a point to say this is the closest he's had to traditional Japanese karaage. High praise from someone who's passionate about his Japanese culture. Hayashi Omurice -- This is their most popular dish and it's easy to see why. The demi-glaze has a really unique flavor that ties the whole dish together beautifully. This was my pick and I'd order it again without hesitation. Guratan -- My boyfriend's order, and it was incredibly creamy and delicious. We were both too stuffed for dessert by the end, which says a lot about the portion sizes. Ambience: [5/5] The restaurant is small, but honestly that's part of what makes it so charming. Pink everywhere with wooden accents and cherry blossoms throughout (very fitting)--it's cozy, homey, and just really well put together. The intimate size adds to the appeal rather than taking away from it. Overall Experience: [5/5] Hatsuzakara was such a wonderful first experience. Yes, we waited about 30 minutes to be seated arriving at 7:30 on a Friday night but for a waitlist-only spot this small, that's actually a pretty reasonable wait by San Diego standards. The food, the atmosphere, and the staff more than made up for it. Already looking forward to coming back to try the curry and work through their dessert menu.

I feel like everything looked really good, so it was hard to decide what to order. The dishes have small portion size despite the price. I think this kinda helps in that you have room to eat dessert! The brown sugar Okinawa tea was good but the after taste of the sugar was not good. They kept the tea pot warm, and they served oat milk on the side. Karaage had too much chicken skin for my preference. Guratan was penne pasta and not macaroni as specified in the menu. Yakisoba could have used more chicken. Omurice had the more flavor and the egg was really good. I want to try naporitan next time because of the tomato based sauce. Of the desserts I tried, the parfait was most enjoyable because of the fruit with ice cream. The mushi pudding was good; it was the thick and "hard" type of flan. I want to try kakigori next time because I saw their shaved ice machine was legit. Parking - free street parking only. Be prepared to walk up/downhill.
