Really enjoyed this place. So many coffee options and a really cozy vibe in there. Besides the homeless outside. Owner/workers were very friendly. Highly recommend read more

The perfect place to start your day! Beautiful coffee shop filled with plants and succulents. The service was amazing - sweetest barista who made my day. Coffee was excellent too! read more

This is a family owned and family run coffee shop with the friendliest people in town! The space is large and tables are spaced out, so it's easy to social distance inside. They prep the sandwiches and fruit on site, so the ready-to-go items are good. I love stopping by whenever I have to work out of downtown. read more

The Vietnamese ice coffee slaps so hard. Really a good coffee to get you back on your feet.

Former long time customer. So glad to hear you guys are still around. If/when we return to work I will be sure to stop by and say hello.

Great place. It has it all; good coffee, great atmosphere, excellent service, and fantastic breakfast sandwiches! When in Portland a must stop. read more

I was wondering around downtown Portland, just looking for some coffee.I saw free wi-fi and the sweet aroma of coffee tickling my sensory glands. I wandering in and saw they serve bubble tea as well. The staff is very friendly and generally nice people. I promptly ordered the large Taro bubble tea of course! It was very good and reasonably priced. Definitely good place for a quick bite and surf the web. Also, they have good breakfast sandwiches. read more

The decor was meh.... The logo looks British or maybe Scottish but then inside everything is Asian. It's like....what is going on here? The lady who made our coffee was nice so I was crossing my fingers that the coffee would be amazing... It wasn't. read more

Everything is cheap! Food taste amazing, lovely Family warming lady. She makes the best egg and cheese croissant... Easily consummated coffee... Just absolutely wonderful shop. I totally recommended going to visit this shop. Don't even get me started on the bubble teas, they're make you go nutts! Oh my glob I luuuurve their bubble tea! Yup, basically you're an idiot not to visit the shop and try something. BUBBLE TEA AND EEG&CHEESE CROISSANT!!! My favorite is BBQ sandwich and taro bubble tea. read more

Recommended downtown spot for coffee and a bagel. Open early, good prices, and they call you Dear.

Breakfast sandwiches are generously sized. Hot coca is tasty. I wish they had more fresh baked options. The seating area is cozy.

The best coffee in town. Services are exceptional and breakfast sandwiches are so delicious!

I was craving Vietnamese coffee and this place happened to offer it. The barista was this sweet Vietnamese lady and told me that people liked that coffee. Sure enough, after taking one sip I fell in love! read more

I had a green tea latte and it tasted like the milk after you're done eating lucky charms, in the best way. It was warm and frothy and delicious. And the staff was very nice. I would definitely go back. Also cute and clean and roomy. read more

Coffee and bagels were just what we needed this morning. Friendly people, large open space, and very efficient. Great place to fuel up in the morning if near the downtown area! (Easy morning walk from Mark Spencer / Ace Hotel area too.) read more

Bubble tea review. They charge $5 for bubble tea made from POWDER =/ I think that's ridiculous. I believe bubble tea made from powder should be no more than $3 -$4 max. The boba is soggy and overcooked. The ambiance is alright. Not trendy. Good for for a no fuss simple cup of coffee. Customer services is good. Clean store. read more

Can't say enough about how great this place is! I go out of my way to go to this coffee shop, my favorite is the mexican mocha! Very friendly and they always remember me and my name which is really nice. The food is good and the coffee is great but I go for the amazing people and their service! read more

Visiting Portland from California and Java man just happened to be right by our hotel. Such a cool spot. The white angel might be the best coffee drink I've ever had and the breakfast sandwiches are great too!! We'll def be back next time we're in Portland read more

I wish I lived here so I could be a regular. By the third time I came in, the staff already knew my name and my order. The fourth time I came in, I realized they know a significant number of people coming in during the morning rush, which I found to be really awesome. Not only is the staff super friendly, the coffee is also really, really good! Hands down the best decaf americano I've ever had. I also highly recommend their breakfast sandwiches. The place is clean, with friendly staff, great food and drink, and has a chill vibe. Highly recommend. read more

This is one of those hidden gem Mom n' Pop shops. Super random extensive menu with anything and everything including sandwiches, bagels and bubble tea. Don't expect hand crafted self pickled kind of items. No Milkshake or smoothie from local organic products BUT there are locally baked goods and a great drink selection. You WILL get a friendly smile welcoming you and as a regular they will remember your name. This is a dying breed of establishment that I wish would make a comeback. Yes I want healthy ingredients in my food but you can still find healthy options here if you take the time to look. I also enjoy their random decorating and crazy menu, the dumb founding amount of pastries available any given day and some endearing language barriers and cultural differences that have led to some bad reviews by impatient folks. This place has limitations but it also has charm and folks who care to give you a great start or end to any day. Come in, find something you like and come often. This kind of place will actually appreciate your patronage unlike so many Portland snooty joints who seem to care less if you return and more about what you think of their smoke and mirrors. I come here for homework time before school and a smile. read more

Great coffee and extremely friendly service. The freshly baked cookies were delicious!!

Just so you know... I haven't ordered an Orange Juice from Java Man Coffee since 2003 or 2004 when I still lived in Downtown Portland, Oregon. Pre-Pandemic this was The Place To Be for your White Chocolate Mocha Coffee Drinks. I used to Scout out locations for my younger brother and his wife... for when they would visit... should they visit. ( They are not Locals. ) I was told that my younger brother's wife is Crazy about Blueberries. At Java Man Coffee there is a Blueberry Drink. And, there are Bagels,... usually. Say you want a French Bread Sandwich... with Lemongrass... with your Blueberry Drink... it's here at Java Man Coffee. Try the Green Tea Java Freeze... if you require a Green Tea Drink. I regret... that I did Not order the Cappuccino... when I was last at Java Man Coffee. And,.... there is Public Parking nearby.... just Walk. I recommend that you order the Steamer, or the Hot Apple Cider... because both have No Added Sugars. Although, if you prefer to buy your Beans and make your Own Freaking Coffee at Home, or are in need of a Cold Bottled Drink To Go... you are in Luck, usually. But, sometimes, the Bottled Drinks, and the Beans To Go are Sold Out... it's better get there Early. Oh yes,... I Never saw a Police Officer in uniform ordering their Coffee at Java Man Coffee.... in all the years when I was Walking past. ( I lived in Downtown Portland, Oregon between 2003 and 2007... so there's That. ) read more

I wandered a little distance from the MAX platform, searching for a place to buy a cup of joe that isn't owned by some evil, soul-crushing mega-corp. I spotted Java Man. As soon as I walked inside, I could tell it was a mom and pop shop. Very good. Lots of breakfast and lunch type food items up on the board. I was just looking for something loaded with caffeine and sugar. The lady behind the counter was friendly. The prices were friendly, too. Not an awesome coffee drink by any stretch, but it was more than adequate. I'd go back. read more

I stumbled in here for a coffee meeting and realized I was hungry, too. The menu is a bit overwhelming, so I asked about any gluten-free options. This being Portland -- not a problem! So, this was the first time I've been able to have a gluten-free breakfast bagel! The bread tasted like a regular croissant (that I haven't had in years), and I was duly impressed. I ordered a strawberry green bubble tea, and wasn't wanting milk, but was offered soymilk and figured that was worth a try. It tasted more like a milkshake, so I didn't really get my caffeine fix. But the GF croissant-tasting bagel more than made up for it. I'd stop by here again, for sure. read more

I was walking aimlessly around downtown Portland and was looking for a place to grab a quick breakfast. At first I saw the sign "Now Serving Breakfast" so I looked up and saw the place was called "Java Man Coffee." I was slightly curious about this Java Man. Most importantly, could he make a good breakfast? I walked into this Java establishment and was greeted by a friendly staff and a casual environment. I ordered an egg and cheese bagel sandwich. It was average to good and got the job done. The eggs were fluffy and had some seasoning. Tthe bagel was decent. read more

I was in Portland for over a week for training. I went to Java Man every single day and the service and the coffee are amazing! The owners are so kind and knew my name and order by the end of the week. I wished I could have took this shop and brought it back to Boston with me! The prices are fair, the products are outstanding and the people working there are fantastic! If I ever visit or train in Portland again this will be my go to spot! read more

I absolutely love Java man Coffee! The owner Penny is amazing and so sweet. I like their white chocolate mochas they are way better than Starbucks coffee. The breakfast sandwiches are cheap and delicious go support this local business read more

They have RICE milk!! As well as Soy. Since Im not a huge soy fan, I was really excited about that. They also have awesome breakfast sandwiches, hard boiled eggs, pie's, delicious fruit cups, and all kinds of snacks and foods. Fairly healthy lookin' stuff, and very reasonable in their price. Also friendly and quick! I definitely recommend it if your in the area. read more

J-Man, I had high hopes for you. Unfortunately, you felt like more of an airport coffee stop than an actual cafe. You don't have comfy furniture; you don't have wireless; and your workers decided my raspberry mocha was going to be just raspberry. It was not a horrible experience, and it was quiet, and I finished my lab report---but the for-sale drawings of celebrities weirded me out. There were some cool paper cranes/birds, though. read more

Super friendly folks working here. They have a really large selection of tea and the fruit smoothies are on point. My sister also had one of the types of oatmeal and she could not get enough of it. My egg & cheese sandwich on a croissant wasn't anything special, but it hit the spot and gave me the energy for the walking tour we were headed out on. read more

I wandered in in search of a Starbucks alternative close to where I work. In the few times I have been there the drinks have been good but the price is not all that much less than Starbucks. If I am on my way past Java Man I will stop in and enjoy a beverage but it is not one that I would go out of my way to visit. read more

This place has very quick and friendly service, I would highly recommend the salmon sandwich, and if you are an ice coffee freak, they make a mean iced mocha. read more

I have been here a few times and the people are always nice. I like it because it's pretty low key and never packed. The coffee is a little bitter but okay over all. I ordered food today the sandwich was good but not worth the value over priced and by a lot. They also had politics on which I don't care for.... 3 1/2 stars but rounded up read more
