Bubble tea review. They charge $5 for bubble tea made from POWDER =/ I think that's ridiculous. I believe bubble tea made from powder should be no more than $3 -$4 max. I wish I lived here so I could be a regular. By the third time I came in, the staff already knew my name and my order. The fourth time I came in, I realized they know a significant number of people coming in during the morning rush, which I found to be really awesome. Not only is the staff super friendly, the coffee is also really, really good! Hands down the best decaf americano I've ever had. I also highly recommend their breakfast sandwiches. This is one of those hidden gem Mom n' Pop shops. Super random extensive menu with anything and everything including sandwiches, bagels and bubble tea. Don't expect hand crafted self pickled kind of items. No Milkshake or smoothie from local organic products BUT there are locally baked goods and a great drink selection. You WILL get a friendly smile welcoming you and as a regular they will remember your name. This is a dying breed of establishment that I wish would make a comeback. Yes I want healthy ingredients in my food but you can still find healthy options here if you take the time to look. I also enjoy their random decorating and crazy menu, the dumb founding amount of pastries available any given day and some endearing language barriers and cultural differences that have led to some bad reviews by impatient folks. This place has limitations but it also has charm and folks who care to give you a great start or end to any day. Come in, find something you like and come often. This kind of place will actually appreciate your patronage unlike so many Portland snooty joints who seem to care less if you return and more about what you think of their smoke and mirrors. Pre-Pandemic this was The Place To Be for your White Chocolate Mocha Coffee Drinks. I used to Scout out locations for my younger brother and his wife... for when they would visit... should they visit. ( They are not Locals. ) I was told that my younger brother's wife is Crazy about Blueberries. At Java Man Coffee there is a Blueberry Drink. And, there are Bagels,... usually. Say you want a French Bread Sandwich... with Lemongrass... with your Blueberry Drink... it's here at Java Man Coffee. Try the Green Tea Java Freeze... if you require a Green Tea Drink. I regret... that I did Not order the Cappuccino... when I was last at Java Man Coffee. And,.... there is Public Parking nearby.... just Walk. I recommend that you order the Steamer, or the Hot Apple Cider... because both have No Added Sugars. Although, if you prefer to buy your Beans and make your Own Freaking Coffee at Home, or are in need of a Cold Bottled Drink To Go... you are in Luck, usually. But, sometimes, the Bottled Drinks, and the Beans To Go are Sold Out... it's better get there Early. Oh yes,... The owners are so kind and knew my name and order by the end of the week. I wished I could have took this shop and brought it back to Boston with me! I wandered a little distance from the MAX platform, searching for a place to buy a cup of joe that isn't owned by some evil, soul-crushing mega-corp. I spotted Java Man. As soon as I walked inside, I could tell it was a mom and pop shop. Very good. Lots of breakfast and lunch type food items up on the board. I was just looking for something loaded with caffeine and sugar. The lady behind the counter was friendly. The prices were friendly, too. I stumbled in here for a coffee meeting and realized I was hungry, too. The menu is a bit overwhelming, so I asked about any gluten-free options. This being Portland -- not a problem! So, this was the first time I've been able to have a gluten-free breakfast bagel! The bread tasted like a regular croissant (that I haven't had in years), and I was duly impressed. I ordered a strawberry green bubble tea, and wasn't wanting milk, but was offered soymilk and figured that was worth a try. It tasted more like a milkshake, so I didn't really get my caffeine fix. They have RICE milk!! As well as Soy. Since Im not a huge soy fan, I was really excited about that. They also have awesome breakfast sandwiches, hard boiled eggs, pie's, delicious fruit cups, and all kinds of snacks and foods. Fairly healthy lookin' stuff, and very reasonable in their price. J-Man, I had high hopes for you. Unfortunately, you felt like more of an airport coffee stop than an actual cafe. You don't have comfy furniture; you don't have wireless; and your workers decided my raspberry mocha was going to be just raspberry. It was not a horrible experience, and it was quiet, and I finished my lab report---but the for-sale drawings of celebrities weirded me out. There were some cool paper cranes/birds, though. read more

I wandered in in search of a Starbucks alternative close to where I work. In the few times I have been there the drinks have been good but the price is not all that much less than Starbucks. I ordered a 20oz smoothie. They confirmed that was the size before making it. After sipping it back to the office I suddenly noticed it was merely larger than a 12oz hand sanitizer. . It was all you could ask for in a small coffee shop, a very well made coffee, that came to our table very quickly. They also sell bubble tea there which would have been very tempting absent the cold weather. Still, though this was certainly not my favorite coffee stop along the trip, at least they made that vanilla latte without so much sugar that I was unable to taste the coffee which is often a complaint of mine. Solid place - came here this morning for a hot tea, a bagel with cream cheese, and WiFi before a job interview. Used to work around the corner from here. I just love the staff so much. They get to know you and treat you very kindly. I would get my coffee elsewhere- it's not the best but I like to give them business if I am near by. Plus they have pumpkin lattes year round and it's way better than starshmucks seasonal kind.
