I really enjoyed my ube coffee with sea salt foam and my partner enjoyed his fruit tea with grass jelly. It wasn't busy while we were there, but it looks like they get a fair number of Doordash/takeout orders. While seating is pretty available, there is foot traffic around the register and the barista is busy preparing drinks. The shop itself is clean and a nice place to hang out and enjoy your drink. If you're into collectables/trying your luck, there's also 16 Gashapon capsule vending machines near the counter. Overall, our drinks were tasty and we were happy with our visit. I dropped in here for a quick helping of tea, as I felt like a refresher after some Dim Sum. Like most boba places it had a casual and chill vibe inside, and the cashier was trying to be helpful with any questions I had. I ended up ordering the Ice Green Tea with no sugar, just plain tea and ice. I don't know if there's cross contamination, or just being super over brewed, but the Jasmine Tea ( the green tea they use) was very very tart. I lean more toward tea quality for my boba drinks, so if you're like me, I wouldn't recommend this place if my visit is representative of their brewing capabilities. Yakult is a popular Asian yogurt drink, which explains the tartness. If you know what it is, you will be prepared for its tartness. You can choose from 25% to 100% sweetness. A nice boba place tucked away in a small shopping center that is a lowkey gem in the area! DRINK We got red bean and Thai tea boba. Both were really good and leaned towards the sweeter side. Not too sweet and tasted good. They have a honey green tea usually with cheese foam but I opted out and substituted with sea salt foam. The drink was sweet, but by adding the sea salt foam it balanced some of the sweetness out. I wish I remembered to adjust the sweetness to the drinks. I have been to Ocha multiple times and enjoy every time. Living out in the Boring area we have very limited access to tea shops, so whenever I go into town I always try and get a tea. The drinks come out quickly and the shop is always insta perfect. My two go-to's are the Matcha with cream puff and cheese foam and the Brown Sugar Milk tea with no boba. I want to note: I went for the first time in a long while, since the events of 2020, and I did find the cheese foam was not quite the same. It was a lot thicker and tasted a bit off. If I was craving boba and this was the only place available, I still don't think I would go to it. There are other boba places nearby that I would recommend over Ocha. I got the Ocha milk tea with pudding and it was rather disappointing to say the least. I'm not sure what milk they used but it tasted like 95% soy milk, 5% tea. The pudding was really bland. The drink overall was pretty bland. It tasted like soy milk with a splash of tea. I let my guard down thinking it was a milk alternative and it made my stomach pretty upset (I'm lactose intolerant, so I take full responsibility for that. I should have asked instead of assuming it was soy milk. That's totally on me). What I do like is that it seems like a good spot to come by and do work at with tables spaced apart for social distancing. 12/29/20- My go-to boba place in Portland! Love their milk teas and the boba is always fresh and chewy. I will also admit that I love their stylish cups and the red heart stoppers (great for preventing spills or locking in heat for a hot drink). I like to reuse their nice cups for drinks I make at home! -Super Passion (50% sweet, less ice)- This is essentially a fruit tea with fresh passionfruit (has passionfruit seeds too). The drink was topped with orange, lime, kiwi, and strawberry fruit slices and had shredded orange peels at the bottom for extra fruit flavor. The tea flavor itself was fine but the shredded fruit peels made for an off-putting experience. It was impossible to avoid them so you had to chew on bitter peels with each sip (or take the time to remove all the peels beforehand). I wouldn't have minded if the drink had fruit pulp but the peels themselves are bitter. The 50% sweetness for the tea was just right for me though and the boba was perfectly done! -Hongcha Boba Milk Tea (75% sweet, less ice)- Ocha's milk teas are usually always a hit and the same goes for their Hongcha (black tea) milk tea. I would recommend getting 50% sweetness or lower because even the 75% sweetness felt like a sugar overload. Otherwise, the tea was smooth and the milk was creamy. The overall drink wasn't too heavy either. -Store ambience and experience- Ocha usually has a clean and relaxing lounge area pre-pandemic. The store lighting is nice/warm and the cashier was very courteous! Our drinks were also made very quickly. It's located in the same plaza as a popular dim sum place so you can get your boba fix afterwards! Whenever I'm in this area of Portland, I always have to stop by Ocha! Tasted artificial. Definitely not made of quality tea or milk. And I got very little boba this time. Other people had a lot more boba. Drinks are not freshly made. Not worth it for over $5+ a cup. Not a fan of places that charge the same as others but cannot provide the same level of service nor quality. The cups are nice and portion is good. However no sustainable option. Ordered with no ice - which is an option. Turns out all drinks pre-made so my drink tasted freezing cold and my cup wasn't full (About 2 inches from the rim), it looked like someone drank from it already. Maybe I've just gotten lucky and ordered some of their better drinks, but after seeing some reviews, I was not expecting much from yet another boba place in Portland. However, I've gone to Ocha probably a dozen times since its opening, and it's always pretty solid. I've never felt that a drink was too sweet, too icey, not flavorful enough, or just not good. The only downside would be the price, but prices ARE starting to climb at many other spots as well. My favorite drinks here are the rose milk tea and the yakult drinks. Upon getting the rose milk tea for the first time, I was so happy that it actually had that strong rose flavor, and wasn't just overwhelmed by the milk tea. The yakults are good too. I always get it with no ice or sugar modification, and it's just right for me. The peach yakult is my favorite! I will say the fruit teas are a little disappointing just because the large pieces of fruit in the drink take up a lot of room, and you're left with just a lot of fruit and ice. We came here after eating some tasty sliders hoping to satisfy our thirst. We all ordered different drinks just to see how it would taste. I ordered the matcha milk tea with boba with less sweet, however, it came out pretty sweet. The bobas we had seemed to ber undercooked as it was pretty hard in the center. (Part of me believes that they may have given me the matcha milk tea that was made by mistake for the previous customer?). I also noticed that there was a good amount of matcha powder on the bottom of my drink as though it was not mixed well. This was one of the rare instances that I did not finish my drink. Ordering was a breeze, super quick even though we made the orders complicated for them: - Matcha milk tea with red bean (one size) $5.50 - Large classic milk tea (1/2 sugar) $4.75 + $0.50 tapioca - Large Jasmine milk tea $4.75 + $0.50 tapioca. Right now until April 1st, it is 20% off, so my total came out to be $12.80 Jasmine milk tea was pretty good, classic milk tea needs some work. Seems like they did not use the high quality tea leaves to brew and you can definitely taste the difference. Matcha milk tea with red bean was a missed. Do not order it, even though the name sounds tempting or at least until they have perfected it. Super strong matcha (winner), but what is going on with the blended red beans? Looks gross, taste gross. I'd prefer to have my red beans whole, thank you. The tapioca they used, was very clumpy. I didn't enjoy them. Over all, we spent one hour waiting in line for their drinks, people who came after us; some had already gotten their drinks before us. I am not sure about their organization of drink orders. So I ordered two drink, one 75% sweet (original milk tea) and one full sweet (rice milk tea), I don't know if they got the order right, and its partly my fault as well since I should have checked the order on the screen, but anyway, the one supposed to be less sweet is overly sweet and the one with full sweet is bland, and usually they would have a sticker on the cup to tell which one is which, they did not have it on their cups so I could not tell if that how the drink served or if they make mistake. Secondly, I asked for boba and grass jelly in a drink, only got grass jelly, again, partly me because I should have check before I take off.
