Views with your coffee...
Kristen S.

Beautiful setting in the marina. Lots of seating options both inside and out-tables, high tops, picnic tables, couches. A large iced coffee was $5.51. Service was friendly. Great spot to sit and watch the marina activity.

Perfect local cafe with an amazing view outback. Has lots of space inside and outside to sit and get work done or just enjoy the view. I ordered the Arnie Palmer with black tea.

Veggie pesto,

Coming for years so disappointed this year. Service and quality so down this year. I ordered salmon with lox, they were out of salmon, ordered a veggie pesto, hardly any pesto. Our sandwiches were done and in the past would be brought to us ... now just sitting on the counter in a bag we were eating in. I wanted to order a chicken salad sandwich last week and because it was before lunch i was told there would be 1.00 upcharge. No where on the menu does it say that. The best part about this place is the marina views and wifi and the wifi was down. Sadly I will be looking for a new coffee shop. To many strikes this year.

Unimpressive lox & caper sandwich! - wasn't toasted, light cream cheese on only one side, and a pathetic thin piece of lox

I've been to Java Madness dozens of times over the years (mostly in the summer). Their bagel sandwiches are tasty and they have very good coffee and gorgeous views with ample seating outside on the deck overlooking the marina. However, my recent experience really turned me off when I went with my family (6 of us). The young woman who took our order was very unfriendly and rude (just to us, she was fine for customers before and after) and was clearly very annoyed by our large order... not sure why since it was a basic straightforward order, close to $70 plus tip. Asked for no onions on one sandwich and got extra onions. Asked for hot apple cider and got cold. Asked for bagels to be toasted and not a single one was toasted. Lox sandwiches were pathetic, light cream cheese on only one side and a single slice of very thin lox. We didn't bother bringing anything back because they were busy, we were hungry, and didn't want to further annoy the young women. Perhaps it's the college season Fall staff (versus summer staff) because Java Madness was previously quite family friendly with books and puzzles for kiddos. Our usual favorite beverages are brewed flavored coffees (all delish, very smooth) and the big train vanilla chai (hot or iced). Favorite bagel sandwiches are lox & caper (usually generous portions), the Sicilian, the veggie pesto. Did this experience this experience rub me the wrong way? Yep, quite a bit. Will I go back? Yeah - I'll deal with a grump and one-off bad experience for a great cup of joe... perhaps she just didn't have her coffee yet!

Coffee and food overpriced. What awful music they have. If it wasn't for the view no one would go there.

Coffee is mediocre...but I agree that this is a great local business and no-brainier over Dunkin.

My first impression of the room hit me through its espresso scent that filled the entire space. The modern design of the space creates an environment that supports both focused work and relaxed socializing through its streamlined design. The shop maintained a peaceful atmosphere because I was the only customer present which enabled me to study the surroundings at my own pace. The space appeared to be perfectly clean because a staff member was busy cleaning the floor which showed that the establishment maintained cleanliness as a fundamental requirement. The shop maintained a quiet atmosphere which only included the soft sounds of the espresso machine and its periodic loud noises. The staff members delivered fast service while maintaining a friendly attitude. The staff members welcomed me as soon as I entered the building and they explained all menu options to me because I did not know what to order yet they did not attempt to persuade me to choose any specific item. The staff members allowed me to create my own drink which I found to be a useful feature. The staff members permitted me to create my own drink because I needed to follow my specific requirements. I chose to order a large iced mocha latte with an extra espresso shot. The staff members finished my order within three minutes which they executed successfully because most businesses find it difficult to create this level of operational efficiency. The espresso shot produced a rich chocolate flavor which tasted smooth and fresh without any harsh notes. The drink maintained an equal distribution of coffee and chocolate flavors because neither ingredient overpowered the other.

I am so glad we did, because this is definitely a new favorite spot and worth the drive over the bridges! It was a rainy afternoon, and my grandma and I rolled into their ample parking lot to get some coffee and a midafternoon snack. The shop is sparkling clean with plenty of seating at cafe tables and a cozy couch section. The clientele was a mixture of students from URI and professionals working remotely. All were sipping lattes and seemed happy - a good vibe right from the get go. The barista was upbeat and knowledgeable about the menu, recommending their house made Pumpkin Spice Latte (I had to try it!). I am so glad I did, because theirs is made with pumpkin puree, so it's not sugary or cloying like other varietals you may be familiar with. We were also informed that all their baked goods are made fresh daily, and I was pleased to see the pastry case was clean as well (this is a less common occurrence unfortunately, than you would think). We tried the Blueberry Muffin, and it was FABULOUS! I am already looking forward to going back and trying more. Don't be fooled by the humble roadside plaza exterior- Fuel is certainly worth the stop.

I did a Google search and saw that The Coffee Guy was close to me and that they had a variety of beans that they roast in house. I stopped in to the shop and walked up to their display of bags of coffee beans. The owner introduced himself as well as the staff. They were all very friendly and knowlegable. I made my selection and brought it to the counter to purchase. They also serve coffee and pastry but this trip I just wanted the beans. They offered to grind them to whatever courseness I wanted, but I prefer to grind them at home. A pound of coffee averages $20 and they have a frequent buyer program (when you reach purchases of $100, you get a $5 credit. This is tracked so your purchases accumulate). They also deliver to the area on Wednesday's if you order online by their Tuesday Night deadline. I have tried this and my coffee was on my doorstep before 9 that Wednesday. Very convenient. Lastly, the store is not that big with not much room for sitting (I honestly can't remember if they had seating.) However, if you are looking to source your beans or grab a cup of coffee on the go, this is a great option.
