I had to wait outside until my husband arrived. I later find out it was due to a senator and his entourage of security coming in to eat. I did sit down and looked at the menu. Asked the waiter if the chicken was fried fresh. He said no. I asked if there was another item on the menu that was fresh. He said no. I asked again if there was anything on the menu that was freshly made in the kitchen. He informed me that everything was prepared elsewhere, frozen, and brought in. I decided to leave the restaurant. I would not eat in a restaurant that everything was prepared and thawed out to eat. And the menu prices were extremely high for already prepared food. Such a cute town and nice idea for a restaurant. However, why would you not make your own food?

With COVID-19 high in everyone's consideration list, we planned our stops carefully. Of course In this town, most folks looked at us wearing masks like we were "Gulldern Californians" (we are) and acted like we should care what they thought (we didn't.) a few smart ass comments from some real tough guys-- you're a total bad-ass talking to my eight year old daughter like that, Cletus) but nothing worth going to jail for, and I just tipped my cap and wished folks a very nice rest of the day. As for the Convenience Store, it's one of the few places in town this trip that showed real appreciation for my tourist dollars, and kindness just because "Uffdah, yeah you betcha!" Nice people here. We gassed up for our car tour through the national park, bought some drinks and snacks, and even some little trinket for my youngest son. They have more items than you'd think they would... steaks and dairy stuff? Cool beans. OG gas pumps... they work great... if you don't like it, Dickinson is another 35 miles East. We'll be back to see our friends here. Yep, maybe we'll wear masks just to cheese-off the locals.

It's your typical grocery store SB-- dependable quality control, meticulously measured and prepared, and served with that barista-panache we've all come to expect. Yes, even here in NoDak. Dickinson is on the larger end of cities by ND standards, so not terribly surprising... I guess I'm always a little incredulous that a little Seattle coffee company had such a global impact. As best we could figure, this is your only reasonable Starbucks option relatively close to the I-94. You're not going to find much between here and Medora, anyway.
