So wanted some breakfast while on our mountain biking trip. My wife looked up Java Bay. We stopped in and placed our order. We had to wait 45mins, BUT it didn't matter at all! They were busy with other to go orders and the wait was worth it!! We will be going there for breakfast from now on when we come up from petoskey to mountain bike and kayak! Oh, we had the breakfast burrito. read more

Breakfast this morning was delicious, as always. We have started eating here within the last year. Sometimes when it's really busy there's a wait for your food. But knowing it's going to be hot and delicious, it's always worth the wait! Thanks for cooking breakfast. read more

Java Bay - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Marquette, Michigan

It's a smaller place you may drive past but DON'T! There were four of us and all us LOVED our food. It's hard to find homemade corned beef and hash and Java Bay's is delicious! You get good portions and good prices. Don't miss out and just drive past. Stop on in. read more

Ok so get your butts down here. It's noon and we're having a splendid, huge breakfast --farmer's omelette, plus an eggs/toast/meat classic that was exceptionally prepared. Why are we the only ones here to support this place? Ok one other guy finished his excellent breakfast and enjoying his third cup of coffee (refills free!) --- Unpretentious, classic diner with yummy food. Be here. read more

If you want to wait an hour for food that your 10 year old could make with no seasoning this is the place for you. I watched the kitchen quite a bit while waiting and even with 4 tables waiting on food there was no sense of urgency. Lots of standing and doing nothing, when we did get our food the hash browns were mushy in my breakfast burrito. By the way that was the main contents of my breakfast burrito. Very little meat or eggs. read more

After a late night, Java Bay is the perfect place for a late morning breakfast! Make sure it is a lazy morning because it takes a little while to get your food and drinks... but they are well worth the wait! The food is truly the best breakfast in town! read more

Java Bay is one of my boyfriend and I's go to, treat yo-self breakfast joints. I reccomend the hippie hash! The hash is crispy, really cheesy and has a great amount of onions and peppers. If they aren't busy they'll even substitute the sausage for bacon.. which is my preference. Michael is one of the cooks there and he knows how to get it done.. all the staff is great and friendly but Michael definitely knows how to grill up some hash browns right!! Tip the kitchen good when you get there because they deserve it! read more

Funny! They took down my BAD review, guess they only keep the good ones?? Here it is again! Less than good food and the service was horrible! The owner/waitress, probably named Karen, tried to lecture me on what hash browns are even after I paid for my meal. She stated that the hash browns are CLEARLY described on the menu. Wrong, Karen, I looked and there's no desription... that's on you. You should know your own menu! Maybe she was having a bad day but I would never eat at this run-down dive ever again! Just to add, when the waitress dropped off our food she left the building and did not even come back to check on us! She only came to the table after our meal to clear the plates and that's when she let me have it with the "hashbrown" lecture. Ugh. She suggested that we try the "corn beef hash" but it was shredded hashbrowns with a bit of sliced corn beef, really terrible tasting and not what I expected. This really offended her! Also, there was only 1 other table, seems like we would have gotten better service!? read more

Food was great, awesome little place to grab a cup of coffee with good tunes. Then wife and I really enjoyed stopping by to use the free WiFi to get some work done on our vacation. The only down side was the air conditioning could have been turned down a touch. read more

First time out of towners me and the wife split the philly steak and cheese hot sandwich defiantly not a traditional philly sandwich here however they have made it even better tasting with many levels of different flavors. We would definitely like to try other menu items starting tomorrow. read more

This is a decent breakfast spot. They were open on the 4th of July and made a tasty breakfast burrito. Coffee was good. It is a walk up and order then help yourself to coffee and water type of place. We enjoyed it and if we were feeling any lazier, might have wanted more table service but it was not particularly necessary. The staff was friendly and keeps a tidy establishment. They have a good choice for hot sauce too. read more

What a great find! Small, cozy, with easy street parking even with a travel trailer, friendly people working, and good food. Oh, the coffee was good, too! It's just a tiny storefront on a college type commercial street, but worth a stop. read more

Cozy, cute and clean interior. Friendly personable staff that treat regulars and tourists the same. Generous portion sizes for a great price. Coffee could be stronger but breakfast was worth returning for. read more

Stopped here on a Wednesday morning, late July so it wasn't too busy which is a good thing since it is a small space. With that said the food was very good - came out hot and the service was very good - drinks were refilled and they were very polite. You order at the counter and then they bring the food out to you once it is done. Prices were reasonable, maybe a little on the high side but the quality of the food and service made it worth it. Try the burrito, it was very good and quite filling. If I was from this area, I would definitely come here again. read more

I stopped in for breakfast and was pleased with the ham and cheese omelet I ordered. It was served hot, fresh and with fresh sides and toast. The wheat toast I ordered was delicious. My coffee was hot and it was nice to be able to refill my cup at my leisure at the drink counter. The only negative I have, and it seems trivial, is that all the napkin holders were very "dusty". I brought was up to the counter to get refilled and mentioned this fact to the wait person. She said "It's just dust from the napkins". Regardless of where the dust came from, it was unsightly and could be easily wiped down when the table is cleaned. Like I said, it is a trivial matter and will not prevent me from returning. read more

Because of Great reviews stopped in. Joined 4 other customers. Went to order food and was told 45 minute wait.....No explanation....we'll get a coffee. Dark roast.... No decaf...No...... said goodbye and drove down the street to Bodega at 517 N 3rd st. It's the real deal. Fresh food from scratch. Dark Roast... yes.Decaf....yes..... FYI I gave Java one star because I couldn't figure out how to give negative stars. read more

I highly recommend the Veggie-ito for breakfast. It was delicious and filling! My husband had the Western Omelet. He enjoyed it. I couldn't even taste it because it was covered with lots of black pepper which I detest. read more

The breakfast burrito says it all. If you're looking to change your life then look no further. Common side effects include but are not limited to: out of body experience, hallucinations, extreme gratification and drooling. The breakfast burrito is the only thing I've had on the menu, and the only thing I plan on having. I've been here before the ownership switch and after many a time and the quality is consistently a Van Gogh masterpiece. One must be patient in getting this work of art as it takes time to assemble, much like Rome, it was not created in a single day. JavaBay, please never change, I love you! read more

On occasion I get a hankering for corned beef hash. I'm used to the stuff most places serve: tiny diced potatoes with finely minced corned beef. Whoa, this place used slices of corned beef cut in strips and diced. It actually tastes like corned beef. This was a new sensation and I had to adjust, did I like it or not? I think so. Should have had it with a fried egg to temper the corned beef. The more I ate the better it got. The portion size was too large; would have been nice to take leftovers home and refry but I'm staying in a hotel. But the coffee was awful. I had the medium brew and it tasted just wierd. I did not care for plastic dinnerware. read more

Ok I'm not trying to sound like a Karen with this review but this place's service absolutely sucked. My husband has a dairy allergy, and when I asked if the bread had dairy in it, instead of looking, the lady up front said, "oh it probably does" and she wouldn't look for me. Ok, no problem, I'll see if she can substitute something for the bread since my husband literally cannot eat it. Apparently they don't "do that here." I ordered our food and was told it would take 25-30 minutes to be out. Well 40 minutes rolls by, and then 50 and then an hour, and before we know it, it's been an hour and 10 minutes before we actually get our food. Meanwhile, there are regulars coming in and placing orders and getting their food well before us. It was just very frustrating. The food was eh, I honestly wish I would've brought my spice kit with me because it seriously needed some spices added to it. Yeah overall this was definitely not a great experience and I wish we would've made our own breakfast. If you actually want food delivered to you in a decent time I wouldn't come here. It's sad since all the reviews for this place are so great and we were expecting great service but we definitely did not receive that. Also forgot to mention, the lady up front (we think she's the owner as well) literally said to 1-2 different customers "it's my way or the highway" and we just thought it was pretty funny that she has the audacity to say that to paying customers. read more

Average food at best, especially the "corn beef hash" what is this stuff??? Waitress/owner seems miserable? Even cook was unhappy? Clean enough but outdated. read more

The owner Nicki is phenomenal. Great coffee and delicious food. The breakfast burrito and homemade corned beef hash are outstanding. Great establishment Nicki! read more

Was just looking for an all day breakfast in Marquette when we stumbled upon this place. The food was fantastic - one of our group even says it's the best omelette they've ever had. Our only complaint was that we could've used bigger straws for the smoothies. The service was fast and friendly and the place was nice and clean. Definitely recommend! read more

This small business is awesome. The food and hospitality were amazing. Anyone posting otherwise is just spiteful. Hats off to this crew for riding out the pandemic. Always a stop when traveling to Marquette. read more

The breakfast was good. They are not open for dinner., just breakfast and lunch. I am from downstate and was up visiting my father while he was in the hospital. I had the breakfast quesadilla and added avocado, it was good. It looks like a sit down restaurant, but you go up to the counter to place your order. There are coffee carafes that you make your own coffee, which was different, but interesting. I didn't mind. The food was good and the coffee was good. It seemed like there were a lot of regulars, so I assume their other menu items must be good as well. read more

Java Bay is a small, quaint eatery on Third Street in Marquette with phenomenal breakfasts. They have daily specials and make the best hash browns you'll ever have. My husband, who's hard to please, has had a couple of their sandwiches for lunch and said they're spectacular. I've referred many friends there and they all rave. One, however, even having enjoyed the food thoroughly, will not go back until they provide real silverware...they give you plastic cutlery even though their plates and coffee mugs are ceramic. We're a little stupefied by that...thus four stars when they easily could've gotten five. read more

Great Breakfast and coffee! Tables were well spaced out, masks are worn by all the staff and silverware was washed prior to serving. Definitely recommend the burrito and farmer omelette. read more

To start I was a little surprised that java bay is not an actual coffee house they do serve drip coffee and one fancy coffee with some tasty ingredients added in. I ordered the farmers omelette it's was great!! A little on the greasy sight but still an awesome omelette packed with an array fresh ingredients. All of the other meals I saw out looks good as well.
