Vegan Organic Garden Vegetable Soup

To anyone who got the Vegan Organic Garden Vegetable Soup today (03/22/2022) there was meat in the soup. When I called and spoke to the manger CJ and informed him about meat being in the soup. He stated, "What do you want me to do?" To Jason's Deli is this what you are paying your mangers for?

JD's has come to the East side and from the looks of it, they have came to stay! Great location, beautiful and spacious interior (great for groups) and ample parking. On my quest to cut the carbs and eat healthier, I really wanted some soup. When I saw the JD logo, I knew just the soup to hit the spot! There are two doors to enter the establishment. The one facing I10 is nearest the takeout counter. Use the other door to order and dine in! I honestly wished I had dined in because this JD's is so warm and inviting! The glass allows lots of natural light the fill the space. Makes you feel warmer than the soup you order--well almost! The seafood gumbo I ordered was powerful and potent with spice! I was able to tolerate it by consuming in spurts, but it maybe a problem for some patrons. Better to underseason than overseason! Despite the loads of spicinest, it was still flavorful and rich, which is the JD gumbo I fell in love with years ago. A great stop for a fullfiling and guilt free meal. Thanks JD for showing East Houston some JD lovin' from your oven!

Fruit cup- only strawberries

This is for the drive-thru only, since I've never eaten inside at this location. The line and wait were long but when it was my time to order, the employee was fast taking my order. The order was also correct once I got it. In my opinion the fruit cup is overpriced. I got like 6 strawberries for the price I could get an entire carton at the store. The tuna sandwich was good and I like that I can customize it anyway I want. Overall the food was fresh at this location and worth the wait.

My mother loves this place and it is the only location on this side of town but it is very piss poor. I called ahead and the young lady asked if she could place me on hold. I was on hold for atleast 13 minutes(see photo) before the girl came back to the phone. We were at he drive thru speaker by the time she came back to phone. I said absolutely not the least you could so was make one of the soups free, discounted or something. The manager came to the window and said he could not give us anything for free. He said that he has a minor fire to put out in the restaurant and it was all hands on deck and that was the reason for the long wait. I could give him this if he wasn't like the 3rd or 4th manager that I have encountered at this location. It looks like they have turnover. I used to work at the high school up the street and would call ahead because they took so long with to go orders and even when I arrived they still would not have it ready and that was back in 2019. My mother ordered two pot pie soups (bowls) and one wild rice with chicken cup. I told my mom just to call corporate. This location is ridiculous and I dont see it changing anytime soon

California club with hardly any ham.

I came to this location and I really wanted to walk out. The place was dead and when I placed my order my sandwich was all veggies and no ham . I asked for a salad bar and there was a fly. I will never come back.

We were ultimately shown to a table directly in front of the kitchen. As we sat there, I gradually began to notice some troubling things. Another Asian group was seated at a table next to one of the kitchen entrances. Later, when they finished their meal and left, another Asian family was seated at the same table. In addition, a Black family was seated next to another kitchen exit. A woman in that group asked to be moved to a different table. The food itself was very good, and the server who took care of us was pleasant and kind. My concern was specifically with the way the host assigned tables. Seeing this seating pattern repeated even though other tables were available made me strongly feel that race was influencing the seating decisions. I found the experience very upsetting. Of course, it is up to the restaurant to decide how it will assign tables in the future. I would be glad if this experience prompted the restaurant to recognize the issue and make changes. On the other hand, if nothing changes, I will consider this to be part of the restaurant's character. I am leaving this review to share what I personally saw and experienced.

It been a Houston institution since 1999. Walking into K&G's can be quite overwhelming on the first visit. There's just so much to see, be it Autographs, Caricatures, Playbill's or their delicious cakes, treats, breads, and Pickles. However, the real overwhelming experience is the menu. Anything you could possibly want is listed on the menu. I recommend looking t it online before coming, just so you can have an idea of what you might want to eat. My dad(96) and I are frequent visitors and we always seem to get the open faced roast beef, which is stacked high and there is always left overs for eating at home the next day. The pickles are a fan favorite for me, and I tend to devour several of them. This visit I decided to try the fried fish sandwich (made with halibut) with onion rings and french fries and my friend, a Houston native who had never been here, went for the Schleppy Joe with onion rings. These sandwiches were stunning and wonderful. I saved half for to go so I could have their classic New York Cheesecake... the best in the city. The entire dining experience was top notch, exactly the experience I always have. Ziggy knows how to make the customers dining experience an "experience", I have never had a bad one, from the service down to the cleanliness of the entire place. In this review I want to give a special shout out to Beverly, our server, as she was amazing and whom I recommend. She practically read our minds and was an absolute star. Thank you, Beverly, for the fine service that was speedy with a smile!

I mean my pocket book is probably better for it because I want to buy the whole store but honestly I've been missing out. The place is cute and welcoming from the corner sign on the building to the moment you step in- bright, inviting, great displays so you know where to go. You can't get lost in here with the signage, but you can't definitely get lost in the aisles with all the great, unique choices. The ready food display has so many Mediterranean treats, some I've had before some I've never heard of and everything I tried was amazing. We got the cabbage rolls and Armenian veggie dolmas. Great flavor, both specific items I haven't had before. Nice citrus, spiced flavor to these. I'd say they're have to try items. Not only found jarred tomato paste, which I've been on the hunt for but they had choices in this category and that's another first for me. Will have to go back and try the others. Also got the cured Serrano ham -amazing. And I thought the prices were going to be insane having a spot right in the middle of the city and nope- pleasantly surprised for my goodies, great prices even less than some of the other stores I frequent in the suburbs. I'll be back again and again and again until I try the whole store lol. Definitely give them a try, you won't regret it

They offered an assortment of goods and items that are great for gifts and for your own home. I can always find something of interest in the store. I also love that they tend to carry items that are a little more boutique and local which makes it fun to browse. A lot of people visit for the barbecue. If I recall, when they first were serving BBQ it was a smaller, more limited time and they've since extended those hours. When visiting there is plenty of street parking in the area. They have expanded the seating inside since when they first opened which is nice for those not looking to takeaway food. Food & Drink - 4.25* The counter for ordering is in the back. I definitely recommend getting an assortment or a plate. Sausage and brisket are both solid. The sides are good too. I did notice the quality maybe dipped a little as the hours expanded, but it's still a very good option to some of the nearby establishments down the road or over in the North Main area that tend to have giant queues. When I was working downtown we'd swing over here quickly for a lunch. Feel free to grab anything to drink from the coolers as well if it catches your interest. Service - 5* Solid. We've spoken directly with the owners when visiting and it's evident they care deeply about their store, their customers, and the community. Definitely support your local businesses!! Cost - 4.5* Always subjective. I think for what they offer, how clean and well organized the shop is, it shows. They keep prices approachable. Overall - 4.5* Personally, I think it's a great balance of quality, convenience, and an assortment of goods that make it interesting.
