This is a cool little Thai and sushi place in Murray, KY, that has good food, good service, and good prices. Don't be fooled by the location being in a little strip shopping area-it is very nice on the inside. I came here while out of town in a work trip and was feeling something different-so I decided to find a sushi place-so glad I tried it. I sat at the bar and the service was great. The bartender was very attentive and knew the menu well and even asked questions to make sure I got exactly what I needed and how I wanted my food cooked. I ordered the Roll Roll combo with a few sides pieces. I loved the fact that I could get 16 pieces of sushi for 12.99! The Roll Roll combo was 4 pieces of 4 different kinds of sushi( can't remember the last one but I know spicy tuna, spicy shrimp, and California roll were three of them). All were tasty but the spicy shrimp roll was the best one I've had. I highly recommend. They also have drinks if you want to have a good beverage. They even had Sapporo on tap, which is the Japanese beer I like when I eat sushi any kind of Thai/Asian cuisine. I will try to come back when in this area. read more

This place has changed a lot since it first opened and it's only gotten better. It's on the pricier side of your Murray dinners but you will walk away happy. The sushi is definitely the better sushi you can get in town and they do have a good variety. For those of you who aren't big on sushi, you'll have good selections in their other dishes. If I feel ill, I really like their Tom Kha Chicken soup; I, also, spice it up quite a bit. The gyoza is good. Seaweed salad is always a good option. For the main dishes I like the duck curry (kinda sweet), pad thai or drunken noodle. But, really, anything is good. Dessert, I would recommend the cheesecake tempura. That's probably a two-person dessert with its size and richness. I like to add more chocolate. The thai tea is very sweet, too sweet for my taste, but it isn't bad, just not for my tastes. Thai food + Japanese sushi = Asian fusion in western Kentucky. The Massamun Curry (coconut milk, peanuts, and veggies) was sweet, which suited my wife's taste buds. I enjoyed the Tropical Fried Rice (w/ shrimp, chicken, cashew nuts, pineapple, and veggies). The Jasmine Sampler Platter (spring roll, lemongrass chicken, crab Rangoon, beef jerky+) was okay, but not any tastier than similar items elsewhere. California rolls were fine. Pleasant décor, friendly and helpful wait staff. Being form California it seemed I could find good Thai food anywhere and so I was bit spoiled. Once I moved to Kentucky I began to realize most of the natives have never even heard of Thai food. I spent several years at Murray State University and only recently returned for graduation. Upon my return for graduation I stumbled upon Jasmine! Wow and it rocked hard! Japanese & Thai served up hot and fresh. Price is decent. Portions are on point! They aren't stingy with the servings, you may need a to go box. Wifi inside the restaurant whaaaat!? So Awesome! I ordered calamari, along with red chicken curry. It was very scrumptious! I'd recommend it to everyone. So much food, had to take it home. You can share the chicken curry with another person especially if you're get an appetizer and salad with your meal. The service was great and quick. I'll definitely be coming back. My friend ordered pad Thai and she raced over her food and how delicious it was. Ms. Jones was SO looking forward to curry and spring rolls New Year's Eve and coiffed her big soap opera hair in time to enjoy an early dinner at Jasmine's--the dinner never happened and here's why: When Ms. Jones and Mr. Rockstar walked in the restaurant, the ENTIRE front half of the restaurant was EMPTY. When we walked in the hostess said "it will be five minutes." Five minutes for a seemingly empty restaurant??? Still hanging onto the hope of spring rolls and curry, Velvet and her beloved patiently sat and waited. A few minutes later a family of five walked in the door and were given the same "five minute" time frame by the same hostess. A few more minutes passed and we were taken to the OTHER side of the restaurant where four booths were seated with customers, and there were at LEAST three other booths available, but the hostess led us to a table with four chairs. We didn't want a table and politely asked for a booth as it was clear there were MANY available and it would have taken the waitress literally two more steps to get to the fifth booth beyond the current four that were occupied to serve us had we been given the opportunity to sit there. The hostess told us we'd have to wait. Ms. Jones has learned enough in her years of dining world wide that when a restaurant starts off on a bad foot ("five minutes," and told we couldn't have a booth when was readily available), it NEVER gets better. With that, she turned to her handsome husband and said "let's go." She took her big hair and handsome husband right out of Jasmine's to seek greener pastures. Ms. Jones doesn't understand why Jasmine's is so difficult to dine at. Ms. Jones also wonders if the owners, managers or staff would ever go spend money at a place that treated THEM so poorly. Seriously Jasmine, you cannot expect people to want to come to your establishment, spend money and not get a choice of booths when one is clearly available, be asked to wait "five minutes" for a table in a mostly empty restaurant and let's not forget the TWENTY PERCENT SURCHARGE ON TO-GO ORDERS Ms. Jones mentioned in her previous review. Just NO. Ms. Jones doesn't have a Southern accent in real life, but she needs to tell the people of Jasmine this: "Y'all need to get it together." Ms. Jones and her Rock Star husband will NOT be back to this place and HIGHLY recommends that if you are reading reviews of this restaurant to read the poor reviews and THEN make your decision about dining here. When I was a Murray State student, Jasmine was a favorite of mine. I loved the orange chicken, with the delicious very orangey sauce, and the crab Rangoon. Being my favorite restaurant from "back in the day," I had to stop in while in town. The crab Rangoon were exactly how I remembered, and just a tasty. But when I got the orange chicken, i was disappointed. It was barely breaded with barely any sauce, completely different than what I remember. Obviously things will change over the years, but I was sad to see one of my favorite dishes go from amazing to barely palatable. I'm a business traveler. I had the Hamachi Cheese roll which was delicious. I always get 2 orders of Nigiri when I'm out for sushi. My go-to was the drunken noodles. The lunch special is a good deal, but for some reason the food was always better at dinnertime. (It must vary depending on who's in the kitchen.) Jasmine is probably my favorite place in town to eat. I am a vegetarian and they offer more options for me than anyone else. Plus the food is great! I like to go during lunch when you get a salad with your meal. A salad is a must. Their ginger dressing is so good that I'll buy some to bring home and put on my salads. I only gave it 4 stars because the service is quite slow and sometimes you have to wait forever for a water refill. Don't pay until you are done because no one will check on you again after. This place told me 30 minute on my food. an hour and a half later, I got my food. they forgot my waters, forks, and the food was cold and nasty. To make the food better, I went back in to get yum yum spa ice because she didn't give me that either after I had ordered it. Then proceeds to try to charge me for it after I waited that long. Let me preface this by saying that this had been my favorite restaurant in Murray. I had dined there monthly since the week they opened until the Fall of 2017 when I moved. If you would have asked me to review them back then I would have easily given them a 5/5 rating, but after my visit on 3/24/19 I doubt I will return. My wife and I ordered the same meal we enjoy when we are visiting Murray (a drunken noodles to split and two different sushi rolls). I add cream cheese to my roll, which has an understandable up charge, and my wife asks for hers to be deep fried, again with an understandable up charge. The up charge for my cream cheese addition was $4 and to fry my wives sushi roll was an additional $9. This is a crazy amount to up charge! Thankfully our waitress was amazing and before the sushi chefs prepared our rolls she came over to the table and told us that the owner was forcing this increased up charge prices. I could understand $3-$4 increase to fry a sushi roll, but $9 is just ludicrous, especially since they have a variety of other fried rolls. My wife and I live in Nashville so we are used to increased dining costs and typically don't bat an eye at Murray pricing, but this left a deep impression on us. The only reason I haven't rated Jasmine as a 1/5 is because our waitress was very open with us about the charges and let us change our order before it was prepared. While visiting family, we decided to try what Kentucky thought of as Thai food. Since it's a college town, I was thinking that with the high amounts of highly educated people and possibly international students the quality of what was interpreted as Thai and Japanese food would be high. It was pretty good for this remote region. I was slightly disappointed that at 11:30 am on a Sunday that I couldn't get served a beer, but that's not their fault. I don't understand how "freedom" has so many restrictions. If I want a Japanese beer with my pad thai, I think I should be able to have it. I shrugged this off as a loss for the local economy and put my order in. I decided to order gyoza dumplings, which was a first for my husband. I found them to be very tasty and cooked just right. For my entree, I ordered drunken noodles with shrimp and the spice was the perfect amount to make the dish delicious. My husband ordered chicken fried rice, which he said was decent. Overall, I would be interested stopping here again to explore more of the menu. It's worth a stop for anyone who is a fan of various Asian cuisines. read more

We waited over an hour for our food and, after asking about it, finally was brought out. It was cold/lukewarm. The waiter offered to remake my father's fries but after waiting he was starving. When the checks came we asked to speak with the manager. He was rude, disrespectful, and said we were lying. I have worked in management for over 16 years and the food service, you do not speak with customers that way, especially with the waiter in the background smiling like a toddler who thinks he won. After waiting an hour and 20 minutes for our food it was lukewarm at best. Service was mediocre at best while having to flag down someone for refills or never getting a drink you ordered. They made sure to get their 18% while refusing to make anything right for us. I didn't ask for free food I just asked for them to make it right while being belittled by management. I can honestly say I have never dealt with such while eating at a restaurant or while dealing with someone of management. This was the first place in Murray to serve sushi, and for that reason we all gave it quite a bit of latitude when it opened if the food wasn't the best we ever had (I am using we to mean "local folk"). And I have been here several times since moving away from Murray, and have been very impressed by the food. It's remarkably good considering the reality that we're eating raw fish in a relatively rural town in western Kentucky. So I am giving Jasmine 4 stars based on my previous experiences, however if the last visit were my first it would have been a 2-star review. I hate this because Murray needs Jasmine, and I hope it was just a fluke. And I don't want to go into the details but do NOT order the Volcano Roll....it's absolutely awful. I am going to leave it there and say no more. I wish I had said something at the time to the waitress, but also expected to be asked why we were leaving without eating our "food". But I passively paid the bill and left. I think Jasmine does everything it can to be a high-quality and trendy establishment, and makes a concerted effort to provide a positive experience.
