Half Chicken plate
Smrithi S.

We have gotten dinner from Jasmine Kitchen a couple times now. We recently got the Half Chicken plate, and Chicken Shawarma sandwich. The Chicken Shawarma sandwich was good, I enjoyed it a lot. The Half Chicken plate was a bit of a surprise, the chicken was fried, we thought the chicken would be baked. The fry made a chicken a little greasy and the inside wasn't as flavorful as we expected.

Food was a hit for my picky mom and son. She had the lamb plate and my son had the kifta kebab plate. My husband had a lentil soup and said it was really good. It wasn't overly salty like at the other places we've gone to. The hummus was creamy and flavorful. The restaurant is a bit non-descriptive and they have a bit of seating, but the booths are super small. Their service was decent and because it's close I would definitely come back another time.

Great variety here in the chicken plate. Everything is well seasoned and the salad is refreshing. Ordered for pick up and it was ready on-time. Solid food if you're craving a platter.

Mixed Kabob Plates

3.5 stars I ordered delivery from here through DoorDash! I tried the Mixed Kabob Plate (priced I think at $17.99, though DoorDash inflated to $20.99). It came with two small chicken pieces, beef kefta kabob, rice and hummus. The portions were modest, but everything was incredibly flavorful. The warm, fluffy pita paired perfectly with the creamy garlic sauce. My only critique is that the chicken was on the salty side.

Delicious Beef Kabob

I used to love this place and they used to have the best Gyro sandwiches in the area. Their gyro was so good but this all changed after Covid where the gyro sandwiches started to taste so bad. I am not sure if they started using cheaper quality meat or cheaper sauce. Extremely disappointing. This used time be my only go to Gyro place.

We got the chicken plate and the lamb plate and they were so good! Served with salad, warm pita, and fresh hummus ! The space is clean and open, and service was fast and friendly! Plus the baklava, and the chocolate roll baklava are to die for We will definitely be back

Chicken Gyro Salad and Greek fries
Kathleen T.

So unassuming but so good! Got the chicken gyro and Greek fries. Gyro meat was tender, well-seasoned and flavorful. Abundance of tzatziki, fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions. Pita was warmed and so fluffy, and the fries were a garlicky goodness with feta and tzatziki. Would definitely stop by again if in the area!

I love a Mediterranean restaurant that offers both great chicken and lamb options. This place goes one step farther and has awesome rotisserie chicken options which are great. The prices are reasonable and there is plenty of parking in front since this is located in a mini-mall of sorts. The interior is fairly basic. It's more of a cafeteria type interior so I prefer to take my food to go instead of eating it here. They also offer a kids menu which is convenient.

Beef/lamb gyro salad

Love this Mediterranean restaurant! It's a hole in a wall, but definitely worth eating at! I had a delicious beef/lamb gyro salad. Everything tasted so fresh and soooo good! The rest of the family enjoyed their gyro wraps and gyro plates. Prices were reasonable. We got there right when they opened, and it was pretty cold inside. Hopefully it warmed up! Not sure if they were use to having people eat inside as the chairs were still on the table in the back room? Maybe better to take it to go until the weather warms up? Either way, I can't wait to go again!

Unassuming clean eatery. Reasonable prices for food and decent selection as well despite overall trend of restaurants increasing prices. Guy working was polite and fast!

Amazing Greek food. The Chicken gyro sandwich is my favorite, especially since many other Greek restaurants do not offer it. Delicious!

Oh my goodness, if you get anything at DERU, GET THE CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER CAKE PLEASE…read more It's been a few weeks since I've gotten it and I still think about that cake. (I haven't justified buying a whole cake for myself, but I truly want to--and am tempted to do so) The food is great and I'd love to go back. I went on a Monday, so it wasn't as busy as it would be on the weekend. The servers are kind, and you typically order from a QR code unless you're having a hard time (and they'll help you!). Quiet space. Some parking available on site but it can get busy on the weekends from what I've heard.

Cute little place with good food and informal setting. Their dishes are pretty nicely thought out…read morebut oftentimes a number of them will be "out of stock" even leading into dinner time, but this is understandable if that's because they're aiming for freshness. What is not so great is that they've replaced human interaction and paper menus with a QR code based menu (annoying but becoming more common) and the only way to order is also through your phone (this is the part that is not common and really sucks). Been to DERU twice. First time my phone wouldn't let the order submit after polling everyone to put what they wanted into the "cart". Eventually some poor fellow who worked there had to use his little iPad and we all had to repeat ourselves to recreate the order after we'd already done the exercise on my phone. Second visit same thing- this time we had to recreate the order a few times on different peoples phones in our party until one of them could finally submit the purchase, and then they immediately started getting emails they weren't expecting as an outcome, their cell phone number was on our order ticket- so beware when you think you're just providing your credit card info- you're actually giving much more than that. We gathered for dinner to spend quality time together in real life and to get away from our phones but because of DERU's ordering system we instead spent the first 20 minutes of our dinner all on our phones. Then during the meal people would finish their glass of wine and want another- phone comes back out! This happened throughout the meal because, shockingly, people don't finish their glasses of wine at the same time, so all in all someone was pretty much on their phone close to the entire meal. Quite antithetical to the goal of human interaction and enjoying a nice dinner together. If they got rid of this ridiculous phone based menu and ordering system I would double my rating AND my tip. But at this point I may not come back for awhile.

This time, though, I was in the mood for something a little heartier. 1/2 SANDWICH COMBOS - 12.10 + 1/2 The Farm Club +1.05 for cup tomato basil soup The Farm Club was a good sandwich with a nice balance of turkey, avocado, bacon, tomatoes, pickled onions, mixed greens, and herb aioli. I also appreciated the seeded honey whole wheat bread, which added a bit more texture. That said, it still felt like something I could easily recreate at home, so it wasn't particularly memorable. The tomato basil soup was the highlight of the meal. It was creamy, slightly sweet, and paired well with the sandwich. Overall, the 1/2 sandwich combo was bit pricy for what I got. This location gets pretty busy. especially on Sunday afternoons. A group of us stopped by for lunch and had to wait a bit before we could push a few tables to fit everyone.

SWEETGREENS @ KIRKLAND…read more This was my first time visiting Sweetgreen in Kirkland, located in Totem Lake. Totem Lake is a great area to explore, with plenty of shops, restaurants, and even a movie theater all within walking distance. It's a nice spot if you're looking to spend some time around the Kirkland area. I've heard a lot about Sweetgreen, so I was excited to finally give it a try. The concept reminded me a lot of Chipotle since you can choose your base, protein, toppings, and sauces to create your own bowl. They also offer a variety of signature bowls if you don't want to build your own. Options included bowls with pesto, steak, and other combinations already put together for you. Unfortunately, my first impression wasn't the best. The staff didn't seem very friendly, and everything felt rushed. Since my dad and I were both first time customers, we weren't exactly sure what to order. It felt like we were being hurried through the line rather than being helped. For my bowl, I chose quinoa, romaine lettuce, and chicken. They had temporarily run out of chicken, but thankfully a fresh batch came out after only a few minutes, which I appreciated. I also noticed that the tables inside were pretty dirty, so we decided to sit outside instead. The outdoor seating was much more enjoyable anyway. As for the food, I thought it was good overall. I liked that everything tasted fresh and seemed to be made with wholesome ingredients. The vegetables were crisp, and the bowl felt healthy and filling. My biggest complaint was the chicken. It wasn't seasoned very much and tasted pretty plain, so I found myself relying on the sauce to add flavor to the meal. Overall, the food was decent, but the customer service and cleanliness left a lot to be desired. I don't think I would return to this particular location, but I'd be willing to give another Sweetgreen a try in the future, especially to test out some of their wraps or other menu options.

We started with the fried yucca and Churrasco Misto, then had the Brazilian churrasco and moqueca. The meat was unbelievably tender -- genuinely melt-in-your-mouth -- and everything was packed with flavor. But the surprise of the night was the moqueca. I almost didn't order seafood at a Brazilian steakhouse because... why would I order seafood when there's all that MEAT?! Thankfully, I did. OMG. The moqueca was soooo flavorful -- rich, fragrant, beautifully seasoned, and easily the standout dish of the night. I would come back for that alone. Seriously, do not sleep on the moqueca! Our server, Simony (I hope I'm spelling her name correctly!), was wonderful. She was so warm, welcoming, and helpful, and made us feel genuinely taken care of throughout the entire meal. And then there's the restaurant itself. The artwork and especially that ceiling are incredible. It's this huge, colorful explosion of Brazilian imagery, patterns, and culture stretching overhead. Between the artwork, the beautiful lighting, and all the little details everywhere you look, the whole place has so much personality. It doesn't just feel like you're going out for dinner -- it feels like an experience. Fantastic food, wonderful service, and an unforgettable atmosphere. We absolutely loved it and will be back. And one more time for the people in the back: GET. THE. MOQUECA.

I had high hopes for Obutekim - an a la carte version of Brazilian BBQ, instead of AYCE. We have no self-control, so this is much better for portion control. Service was sufficient, not particularly attentive. They were busy chatting with folks at a table behind us (people they seem to know). We waved for water refills, etc. The food was a mixed bag of hits-and-miss resulting in a grumpy hubby. (We went to Fogo the next weekend to make up for it.) The Food: Beef with Madeira Wine Sauce and French Fries, $27 - 3.5 Stars Menu: Sautéed Filét Mignon with mushrooms, garlic, onions, parsley, creamy roti sauce, flambéed with Madeira wine. Served with French fries. This dish tasted pretty good with the light wine sauce, many mushrooms, and very crispy fries. The beef chunks tasted mostly good with mostly tender pieces. However, my dish (see photo) doesn't look like their online photo, which is a richer variant visually closer to what a beef bourguignon looks like. I think I missed out on whatever this dish is intended to be. Their pieces of beef are randomly cut in different sizes and shape, irregular and random. My mediocre knife skills can cut more uniform pieces of beef than they did. I like this dish enough but also not hitting the bar. Fried Banana Side, $8.50 - 4 Stars Menu: Banana empanada e Frita (Breaded and Fried Bananas) These fried bananas are under the Sides in the menu. We received unbreaded fried plantains, which is fine with us since we like fried plantains. Their online menu says breaded and fried bananas, and the photo is completely different. I don't know what this dish is supposed to be. Brazilian Churrasco, $27 - 2 Stars Menu: Choice of Beef Coulotte, Garlic Sirloin and Pork Sausage. Served with jasmine rice, Brazilian style black beans (containing smoked pork sausage), potato salad, and farofa. Choice of any meat. This dish should be amongst their signature dishes. Hubby chose their two beef options: beef coulotte and garlic sirloin. See photo. The tiny piece is the garlic sirloin, which is garlicky but a bit tough. The two bigger ones are beef coulottes which have little flavor (seasonings), both are tough, with thick trims of fat. He said "2 out of 5 stars" with a grumpy face. I fed him some of my food to make him feel better.

It's nice that there is half order as a lot of Hawaiian restaurants tend to be full orders so it is incredibly hard to try a variety of options if you're solo or in a small group. The Hawaiian chicken and karaage both are juicy and delicious. It's great that the combo is the same price as the standard individual options so I got to try more variety without paying extra. I looked at the reviews and opted to remove the rice and get extra salad which was a good move - their chop chop salad is very delicious with a nice balance of dressing, cheese, and ham. I still had some rice from the loco moco, which was sufficient for me. The loco moco is good - I wished the patty was a bit less tough but the gravy and egg make up for it.
