I have been searching for an authentic taco in the greater Denver area for about 7 years. This place has hands down the best taco I've had here (beef arrachero). This is a long distance review based on the following: During a FaceTime conversation with my wife's uncle, his wife and son from Alaska who was visiting them in Centennial, Colorado, I asked them how far they were from Monument, CO. When the son mentioned it was a 30 minute drive, I told them about Jarrito Loco and how we knew the owner and their food which is pretty much similar to La Cabanita in Glendale where the owner, Angel, learned the restaurant business from his parents. Anyway, our family in Colorado were looking a new place with good Mexican food and they went to Jarrito Loco on our recommendation. They were not disappointed and spent time meeting Angel and his son who treated them very cordially. They enjoyed the food and hospitality and even ordered food to take home for later. The good hospitality that Angel learned over the years at La Cabanita continues at Jarrito Loco as does the great food served there. read more

I want to like this place because it's locally owned and in Monument. My husband and I went two years ago for dinner. We did not have to wait too terribly long and we seated pretty quickly. The weight staff was nice and the chips and salsa were very good, although not complementary. Not an issue. When our food arrived, it was cold. Not a little bit warm, it was cold. We told the waiter and he said he could microwave it for us, which of course we did not want. The manager came over and asked us how our meal was and we told him. he checked our food, agreed that it was subpar and informed us that it was due to the heating table on the sauce is being turned off and that it would be rectified immediately. We were not charged for our meal and ate what we could but left completely unsatisfied. we are willing to give the benefit of the doubt and try the restaurant again. We recently went two weeks ago and had just as terrible of an experience. The drinks are absolutely wonderful which we thoroughly enjoyed, but our food came out cold,unflavored,and tough the Carne Asada that was in our burrito and tacos was actually inedible because it was so tough. We got two entrées and two drinks, chips and salsa, and our bill was well over $100 with tip. I would never recommend this place for food. There are other Mexican restaurants in Monument that have flavor and their food is always served warm. read more

The place is un-assuming from the outdoor but is the NEAT Mexican food we have ever had. The Mole sauce is amazing. The nachos are individually done and are out of this world. Second time here. Solid food again. Had 3 different tacos to taste this time. Each were yummy in their own ways. The complimentary chips and salsa was delicious. The chips seemed freshly made and hot when it came to our table and the salsa were two of 5 that they freshly make. The waitress/owner I think mentioned that I should try next time their salsa plate to try out them all which I will :) Plenty of parking space and space inside to sit. If you're with a group, it may be tight with 8+. They also do specials on tuesday that you can be added on their mailing distribution and join their point system. The staff was very friendly too and you can see this as a small operation that cares about their customers. While close to finishing I had to order a breakfast burrito just to see and gauge. Price was fair for the size of the burrito. They actually wrapped the egg all around the tortilla instead of the standard scrambled egg. Totally awesome burrito plus it was grilled. I wish they opened earlier so I can grab one to go before heading to work. Overall, totally would return and try out some of their other dishes including the salsa plate. I read more

I placed an order through Yelp (easy). I showed up early at the restaurant. My food came right out and my three simple carne asada tacos were accompanied with homemade chips and two delicious salsas! I've heard great things about Jarrito Loco from other locals. I'll have to try something else the next time I'm in town. (Especially the margaritas!) My only request: some fresh onion and cilantro, or avocado, would have been a nice addition to the taco. But they were STUFFED with meat. So delicious and very friendly service too! read more

This is a neighborhood gem! On the outside it looks like a converted Hardee's, but on the inside they've done a great job decorating with Mexican flare - the colorful rug panels and the hanging decorations by the bar. It really had ambiance. The food was delicious, with the enchiladas being my favorite and the hot sauce being another standout. Went today after hearing many rave reviews. Unfortunately, our experience did not mirror the experience of others. We were seated immediately (Good) wife ordered a margarita, which came immediately (really good...) and then the wheels fell off. Had to ask for chips, which they charge for...while I get it, the charge is ridiculous for a small bowl of chips. Wife ordered chicken fajitas, which I thought were good but salty. I got the carnitas burrito, which was just not good. Again, salty and gristly meat with bland fillings and toppings. We sat waiting for the check...and sat. And sat...it was weird. The building used to be a Village Inn, a truly terrible restaurant. I think the only change they made was to install a bar and change the door and sign... Bottom line- can't recommend off this visit. May try again, but then again, there are many options in the immediate area. read more

Driving on Rte. 25 near Monument, Co? It's worth pulling off to taste Abuela Maria's Mexican recipes at Jarrito Loco. I'm closing up on a month's long, 3500 mile round trip from Ohio to Arizona with stops in New Mexico, Colorado, Arkansas, Illinois and I'm pretty much tired of "Tex-Mex." So when our friend suggested Jarrito, I smiled at the "loco" part. Another Tex-Mex place, sigh. Nada. This is probably the best Mexican food I've had in the three southern states! Honestly, I just have to say Angel and Angie served up luncheon plates that were tops. One with two enchiladas (one mole and one green); two chicken tostados with my fave black beans made just right (you can see beans) and rice with a just-right spice and our third dish, a simple cheese quesadilla to share. Enough food for three with boxes to take home. I mean, lots of crumbly cheese on top; guacamole just right on the dishes. But the spices? Mwah! Perfect. Stop in. Had a great dinner. Went with the beef fajita dinner. It was plenty for two to share. The meat was sizzling hot and full of flavor. The meat was amazing. I did feel if it had cheese, pico de gallo and a more tasty guacamole it would have been superb. Had the chicken nachos as an appetizer. Next time Inwill stick to just the fajitas. After they moved to the former Village Inn location, we went a few more times but ultimately decided that it wasn't a good value for our family. We really like Jarrito Loco! We were in town taking our dogs to the vet (a review for another time), and were looking forward to eating at Jarrito for lunch. We drove to their previous strip mall location and saw all the For Rent signs. Boy, were we disappointed! While looking for another place to eat on Yelp, we happened to pass the NEW Jarrito location -- WOOHOO! And here we are eating dee-lish chile rellenos & flavorful chuletas (pork chops). I like sour margs (sweet ones are blecchy!) and Jarrito doesn't disappoint. At other places, try as they might, some kind of sweet agave or cointreau always slips in, but not here. They make margs JUST RIGHT for me! These folks are doing a great job w COVID regs and we feel very safe here. Everything is disinfected, distanced and sparkling, even the restroom. If you have a taste for truly traditional Mexican food, definitely eat at Jarrito Loco -- at their NEW location (just off I-25 & Hwy 105, Monument exit). read more

Whew this place was pricey for frozen and canned food. I'd say 1star for fresh chips and good jalapeno cucumber margarita. I ordered Chille relleños, 1. Beans were cold 2. Rice had no salt 3. The cheese inside the Chille wasn't melted 4. can of pureed tomato on top of Chille made it awful. My friend order carne asada. Almost $20 dish for 1/8" thick omg I hope patrons read this and just go to rosie's next door. Even if they gave me a gift certificate for a free meal I would decline. New bigger location. Still average for us. I read the ratings but think they are overblown. Deffinatly localy owned. Service average. Full bar and coke products, no beer on tap. Cool Chips ok but did not like either salsa, small bowls used. Chicken or vegetable only Fajita's, no steak. Too large of flour tortillas used in my opinion. Large portion of chicken, rice and beans with good flavor. Taco was gluten free and good. Not forthcomming with coke refills but did do so when asked. Had people waiting to seat so hurried us along. Without a doubt, the best traditional Mexican you are going to find near Colorado Springs. We go again and again for weekly specials (sign up for emails) and their Pozole is the best I've tried at a restaurant. Don't be dissuaded by the exterior of the restaurant; the inside is beautiful. The bar is expertly stocked with tequilas and decorated with traditional Mexican Molinillos hanging from the ceiling. So original. 18 May 23 - my husband and I met two of my friends who I had not seen for several years there for dinner. One of them used to live here and now lives in Wisconsin. Dinner was her treat since she does not get to come to Colorado Springs that often. This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the Springs because of their excellent service, food and Spanish speaking waiters. Had my usual, their grill chicken quesadillas because they do not put any peppers in them or spicy ingredients that upset my stomach. It also comes with sour cream and guacamole. The only thing I wish they had on their menu is ground beef burritos which my husband loves and they only have carne asada or chopped carne asada burritos. He ordered the chicken burrito which was loaded with chicken and was so big that he brought the rest home. I also could not finish my delicious quesadilla because I got full of chips and salsa which come with a choice of two salsas, one that was green and the other was regular salsa. I also got a to go box for my quesadillas. This is a our second visit to this beautifully decorated Mexican restaurant and I am sure we will continue to visit it when we want great Mexican food.
