Jardin is just off of highway 24 next to the Shell gas station. It is in a standalone building and there is plenty of parking. The staff was very friendly and I was seated and no time flat and brought a big basket of chips and salsa. I would hazard a guess that neither was made on the premises. Tonight's special was almost all of the seafood dishes were $9.99 and my server suggested that I take advantage of those specials. I selected the Baja shrimp, which was shrimp with jalapeño peppers and onion in a tomatillo sauce. My food came out in a pretty quick fashion and overall, it wasn't bad. It came with rice, guacamole, sour cream and lettuce. I can guarantee that the guacamole was not made in house and tasted like a cheap supermarket brand. The shrimp and all was pretty good. The restaurant was pretty good, especially considering that this was in a pretty rural area. Maybe if there was a lot of competition, this place might warrant only three stars, but considering that it is off the beaten path, I will up it to four stars. read more

Don't call an order in, very unlikely to get what you asked for. Likely to be cold, not just room temperature, but cold. Chips are always stale. On more than one occasion we called in an order, only for the wife to get home and discover they decided to give us something other than what we ordered. A little gem in a small town is El Jardin, the ultimate comfort Mexican food. Not sure why I haven't review this place since I eat here at least three times a month! Like most working individuals sometimes I prefer to eat out and Jardin's is my go to spot when I want quick dine in or take out. Service is always friendly. They have a nice size dining area with happy hour and daily specials. Mexican decor and music playing which adds to the ambience. There are also overhead televisions to watch the game or nightly news. My favorite is the Burrito Especial stuffed with fajita vegetables and beans topped with fresh lettuce and pico de gallo. I could literally eat this everyday and let me know not forget the complimentary made fresh dailly chips and salsa. They offer the usual Mexican favorites: Tacos, Chimichangas, Enchiladas, Burritos, Nachos, Tamales, etc., as well as sides such as chips and queso or salsa, rice, and beans. Food is good. I've ate inside maybe a handful of times and I work a mile down the road. Service is fair. Prices are average. They could use some cleaning and maintenance work on the outside. Found this place like the beautiful gem it is on a road trip. Hidden away so that only the true adventurers, the Indian Jones's of our time can find. You must be worthy I guess. The enchiladas verdes said beef and the picture looked great, but when you actually took a bite of it all shredded beef green beauty made me fall in love. This is a good Mexican restaurant. We were driving aimlessly around and, beset by a terrible hunger, decided to pull in to El Jardin for a quick bowl'o'beans. It is out in the bush, beside a service station and this makes it all the more surprising. Plenty of parking and, upon entry, it is obviously a nice clean and well cared for restaurant. Loads of booths, a bar and friendly latino waiters were the order of the day. The chips and dip arrived as you would expect, and it was good. Not so spicy, but tasty nonetheless. The food was excellent. Beans, although a little salty, were very nice and the seared jalapenos we ordered as a side were of the best quality. Our waiter came and spent time chatting and checked occasionally to make sure we were enjoying our food. El Jardin is off the beaten path, but if you are in the area and in need of a very good, cheap Mexican feed, go there. It's good! read more

The only reason to give this restaurant a star is because the front of the house appeared to be clean and the staff attending to the cleanliness. The food was awful which is not a word that I like to use when reviewing a restaurant. The food had to be prepared previously because the chili rellenos I received was a dark brown battered chili with cold melted cheese in the middle and a dried up sauce on the top. The enchilada was equally prepared in a reheated manner. The fajitas that came out hot must have also been sitting in a marinate after cooking the day, week, or month before because my son and wife could barely eat it. We will have to find another place when we are visiting our son in Joelton because this Mexican Restaurant needs to learn how to cook, On a positive note the chips were fine. read more

This is a great restaurant right off exit 31 on I24 for locals or the weary traveler who is tired of fast food. We like to eat here on most Sunday's after church. We are always seated quickly and are served fresh chips and salsa. The salsa has a good kick to it but it's not too spicy. I like to get the chicken chimichanga. My kids love the rice and beans. The servers aren't particularly chatty...I guess they just like to get right down to business. I'm not mad at that because sometimes I don't care for gimmicks put on by servers. I just want food! The whole restaurant is very spacious and even on their busier nights you don't feel like you're right on top of each other. This is definitely a regular spot for us! read more

I sat in a booth that was under a speaker; I felt like I was trapped in a tv set in The middle of a boring dinner scene with crazy circus-like Mexican trumpet music as The soundtrack. It was entertaining for me at the least. The service was underperforming, but I was there myself to enjoy a pint and some steak and I'm sure it was apparent. The steak didn't have much seasoning, which is good for people who want to watch their sodium intake. I called to order carry out for myself while I fueled my truck next door.  I asked for a Jim's Nacho (not a joke, it's on the menu)...asked how big is it. He (didn't catch his name) replied " it's small".  I asked (naturally --I was starving ok lol) "is there a larger size?".  He simply said "yes" so I said "ok, I'll take the largest one you have...how large is that size?". He hung up immediately!  WTF?!!? I call right back, he said hello and I asked if he hung up on me.  He said yes. I asked why. He said "what do you want??"...I said "I'm next door, I wanted to order food to pick up...why the f#@$ would you hang up on me? I'll just walk over there in a minute!" And I hung up on him. But I didn't walk over there, I mean after that why would I ever trust them to prepare my food after that incredibly unprofessional exchange?! I give this disrespectful piece of crap a fat zero! My family and I stopped to eat at El Jardin while returning back home from our vacation in Chattanooga. The parking lot was almost empty, but that was to understand considering it was close to 4pm when very few people are going out to eat. We were greeted and seated quickly upon entering the restaurant. The waiter gave us plenty of chips and some amazing home-made salsa. Three of us ordered from the lunch menu and the youngest ordered from the kid's menu. Even though the selection was similar to most other run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurants in the US, the meals were beyond our expectations. The reason I gave 5 stars is because of the 1.) courteousness of the staff, 2.) cleanliness of the restaurant and bathrooms, 3.) very reasonable prices, and 4.) amazing food! read more
