I've been to over five or six different dentists during my 6 years of living in the DMV area, none have even come close to Dr. Woo and his staff. Few things that make their office/practice stand out: - Dr. Woo is never rushed which is surprising given his availability. He greets every patient individually and spends time walking through their dental history, asks how he can be helpful, and actually converses with you about your procedure and explains the reasoning behind his actions - Dr. Woo is extremely cautious, conservative, and precise. I've had a few dentists recommend getting procedures I really didn't need after getting second opinions. Not many dentists are conservative and often recommend procedures you don't really need. - Front Office Staff are amazing. This can make or break a practice even if a doctor is amazing, rude/unhelpful staff are huge deterrents. I want to specifically call out Hali for being so resourceful, organized, and attentive. Hali looked into all of our claims and personally updated us on the progress of each and every claim. I had an obscure insurance provider and she personally checked the mail for my claim to see if it had processed. She said word for word that her philosophy is that she wants to treat others the way she's treated and she definitely rocks that. I've never really seen such amazing staff. I'm no longer in DC and moved to the west coast and I'm honestly saddened because I don't think I'll find a practice like this again. read more

I am not a big fan of the dentist (who is?!) until meeting Dr Woo and his staff. The first appointment you have is 2 hours long at the most, but it's worth it. They get to know you and even ask you if you prefer to be spoken to while getting your teeth cleaned or not or what music you like played as the dentist works on your teeth. This is not annoying at all, because literally everyone you met at Dr Woo's office is genuinely nice and really good at what they do from Connie at the front desk to Dr Woo himself. I promise you, you will NOT find a better dentist in the DC area than Dr Woo. read more

So my 14 year old son (soon to be 15) had been experiencing some pain and sensitivity in a tooth, and this morning I took him in to see Dr. Woo. He was a little nervous about what the dentist might find, and a little anxious about potential pain, but that was soon to be quelled by what we actually experienced. Dr. Woo was so kind and gracious (even though we were WAY overdue for our cleaning) and very clear and professional as he advised me on next steps to treat the decay he discovered under an old sealant from a previous dentist. The procedure couldn't have taken more than 20 minutes, and let me just say that my 14 year old was BEAMING when he came out! I couldn't believe it. He was excited and VERY chatty and just loved Dr. Woo. He said he felt virtually ZERO pain and went on to talk about how nice Dr. Woo was and how bizarre it was that Dr. Woo was "in there drilling on my tooth" (classic 14 year old boy I guess). (Btw all this on top of the fact that everything from the large plastic screen guard at reception, to the staff's gloves, gowns, face shields and masks, to no other patients in the waiting room said this was a well-oiled Covid-careful machine.) So, THANK YOU DOCTOR WOO!! I'm SO HAPPY you fixed my son's tooth, and SO RELIEVED he didn't experience pain ... not to mention SO IMPRESSED you had this effect on him! If you have to take the time out of your day to do something as tedious as going to a dentist I highly recommend Dr. Woo and his staff. Everyone is very friendly (but not annoyingly so) and are very helpful. Connie at the front is great. The hygienists and assistants are fantastic as well. I've never had any issues with them. They seem to really like their patients and have never tried to "upsell" me on products - they have recommended certain things like an electric toothbrush, which I also highly recommend, but never have they tried to sell me one in their office. Dr. Woo and his staff have always been great to me. I don't even have dental insurance at the moment, but I still go because they do such a great job and make me feel comfortable and we can joke around. They feel like old friends at this point, often asking me about my dogs. Plus, they have free parking which can be rare in Arlington! read more

Dentists in general get a bad rep, let's be real. That why when the VAST majority of my workplace recommended Dr. Woo, I was skeptical. However, I'm glad I went with the majority on this one. I've never met a more caring, attentive and thorough dentist as Dr. Woo. During my first consultation, Dr. Woo personally spent more than 30 minutes with me - asking about my preferences in atmosphere (music, talking during cleaning etc.), my dental history and what he could do to make my visits more pleasant. This was no mere lip service either - as I transitioned from the consultation to my cleaning, I was greeted by the sweet sound of classical music playing in the background (after having just giving my preference minutes before). The cleaning from Jan was an absolute breeze and one of the fastest and most painless cleanings I've ever received. Connie at the front desk is incredibly kind - in fact when I called to schedule my appointment, we ended up having a five minute conversation over the phone. One slight drawback - until the office moves later in the year, it does cost $2-5 to park on the street or in the lot in the back of the building. Bottom line: if you're looking for a dentist in Northern VA, Dr. Woo is your man. read more

Our family are new patients in this practice, but so far so GREAT! Its been difficult to find a preferred dentist after a decade of living in the DMV, but I'm glad to report that the positive reviews of Jansen Woo's office are well deserved. I saw Dr. Woo, who also saw my toddler for her first cleaning and he was very thorough with my visit and made it fun for my daughter too. The office isn't your typical family dentist atmosphere - no posters or kids toys - but they did have a "treasure chest" and kiddie toothbrush bags so they are prepared for children. I appreciated that the office seems brand-new (four years they said?) and is very modern, clean, spare. My husband saw Dr. DeLong and also had a positive experience. The other staff - reception, billing and hygienists - were all warm, friendly, efficient and professional. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Woo for a few years and he is hands down the best dentist ever. My British mouth, which hasn't historically been my best attribute, is now in the best shape of my life. I get compliments quite frequently. Dr Woo really cares about his patients and is always reachable. He actually encourages you to call him if something doesn't seem right (even if it's thanksgiving!). He has never recommended any appointments, exams, procedures, etc that seemed unnecessary or suspect. His entire staff is fantastic. Connie is the nicest person you will ever meet. I have always had an awesome experience at my appointments, which sounds crazy because it's a dentist! I really wish all Dr's ran their practices this way. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Woo's since 2010. Unlike any other dentist I have been to, Dr. Woo schedules your first appointment to be one hour of introduction and the second hour of cleaning. At first I thought this was really strange (and a waste of time) but I appreciated it after the fact and realized Dr. Woo wants to get to know his patients and not just while they're mumbling with instruments in their mouth. The dental hygienists are really pleasant and make the experience easy to endure. Connie works the front desk and is always so sweet and kind. She has been very helpful in insurance issues as well as always providing the right documentation for flexible spending account reimbursement. They also do everything online and I just got my reminder email, asking to confirm my upcoming appointment, which I appreciate more than an automated voice mail. Other perk - right off VA Square metro. Parking is street (and metered) but I've seen Connie run out to put money in meters when the patient was still being seen. My husband and I have gone to Dr. Woo for the last few years. His practice is really JUST as excellent as all the other 5-star reviews have said. His office is nice and new (with free garage parking). His office manager, Connie, is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. The hygienists are great (I like Tanya the best). Dr. Woo himself is just awesome. He's kind, gentle, genuinely cares about his patients, does not recommend unnecessary procedures, and has gone the extra mile for us a number of times. I actually look forward to going to the dentist. Dr. Woo and his staff are amazing! They are attentive, professional, and provide advice on preventative measures on caring for your teeth instead of automatically recommending costly and/or aggressive procedures. I've been going to them for 3 years now and I feel like they have invested in me as a person, not just a client. Every time I walk in I'm greeted with a friendly smile by Connie, the sweetest woman you will ever meet, and everyone in the office remembers me by name and will ask about things I mentioned 6 months before at my last check-up. Scheduling is easy, they ask if you prefer to be reminded of appointments via email or phone, and are punctual with appointments but understanding if you're running late. When I was considering a change in my insurance I called Connie to discuss my insurance options she gave me a breakdown of what my best options were based on my needs. I've never had an insurance or billing issue because she always takes care of anything that needs to be submitted. Jan is my hygienist and she's great - super nice and her cleanings are virtually painless. She answers any questions and provides advice not just as a professional but from personal experience. Dr. Woo is patient, very knowledgable but never pushy, and explains things in a clear and concise way. I always recommend him to friends and family, and they've all had great experiences, including people that really hate going to the dentist! I have been very happy with Dr. Woo and his office. I have been visiting his office for about a year now and they have taken great care of me, getting to know me and my dental history and of course taking great care of my teeth (and providing with a smile what must have been their thousandth demonstration on a better way to floss). My three year old daughter also had a great time at Dr. Woo's office for an introductory visit and teeth cleaning, and spent the next couple of days telling people how much fun the dentist is. Also, coming from a lab background, I was excited to see that the office is equipped with a digital x-ray detector (which supposedly expose patients to less radiation than convention x-ray film systems). Scheduling is easy, and when there was a mis-understanding over a billing issue Connie took care of it immediately. Being an easy five minute walk from the metro doesn't hurt either, so I highly recommend Dr. Woo's practice! read more

Dr. Woo is quite simply the most thorough, engaging, patient, and (perhaps most important of all) considerate dentist I've ever experienced. His staff is diligent and knowledgeable, and a perfect complement to Dr. Woo; their handling of appointment-setting, scheduling, billing and insurance, and all of the preparatory work prior to seeing Dr. Woo is done in seamless and expert fashion. I often have a host of questions when I visit the dentist, and Dr. Woo takes the time to make sure everything is addressed. He will sit down with you before and after procedures and go through each question or concern, no matter how long it takes. I have never felt rushed, nor that my concerns were marginalized. I would also point out that on two separate occasions I needed to contact Dr. Woo after-hours on his personal line regarding some emergency dental work. On both occasions (one during the Christmas holidays while I was out of the VA area), he responded promptly (less than 30 minutes for a call back), and went out of his way to accommodate me and provide assistance. I have been going to Dr Woo for about seven years and my wife has been going to him for more than 8 years. His work is impeccable, he explains everything and he won't recommend work you don't need. If you need a filling, he doesn't tell you that you need a crown. His office is newly remodeled and he has the latest equipment and coolest dental technology. He cares, he follow up with you and stands behind his work. Appointment scheduling is flexible, with appointment reminders emailed etc. The best part is there is no need to be anxious since he has a valium gumball machine in the waiting room that takes nickels. Ok, maybe not, but you should give Dr Woo a try. You won't find any better in the Northern Virginia area. read more
