While on an extended stay in Bristol, I had the pleasure of attending Pilates classes at this…read morestudio. The owner and sole instructor, Erin, is the heart and soul of the practice! Erin is fantastic and "spot-on" about helping you modify your poses in order to attain proper form in both mat and reformer classes. She is also motivating, inspiring and extremely accomplished in Pilates. If a pose is particularly difficult, Erin takes a moment to demonstrate the correct form. The classes are challenging and dialogue during class kept at the bare minimum (sometimes I can barely breathe, let alone talk, because of the intensity of the work)! I am sore (in a good way) later in the day and into the next day after a class. I clearly see a more defined muscle tone after attending two classes a week for a month and it just got better after several months. Erin is a professional and takes her work seriously (without being overly serious herself) and wants every attendee to get the most out of the time spent in her studio. The studio is clean (even by my germophobic standard) and neat. The original tin cut-out ceiling (which, of course, we look at the most) adds a nice touch to the physical surroundings. Sign-up and attendance items are efficiently handled and do not detract from class time. As a nice bonus, Erin will introduce attendees to each other; which can simply generate good will during the class or can result in friendships (depending on your own inclination). Everyone in the classes I attend is friendly and the intensity of the classes does not really give room for others to be checking you out and judging. I'm addicted and will return to Aligenmentz any chance I get. It is Erin's voice I hear in my head now that I have returned to Pilates in California.

We've got a pretty high bar for exercise classes back at home and Erin met and exceeded all of them! Have been seeing her for weeks and will be back next time we're in Bristol. I've been going to this studio consistently for a few months and have only wonderful things to say…read moreabout it. I tried the new student special in November and immediately got a membership, I was hooked! Theres a variety of class types and times. I love the original hot yoga, core fire conditioning, yoga sculpt and power yoga classes. I haven't tried the non-heated classes, but I've heard those are great as well. The studio is extremely welcoming - the teachers and community are so friendly and genuine. The manager Jess is always planning something new and fun, so there are special classes, workshops, or social events happening all the time which is so fun! Overall, I am so grateful I found this studio because coming to class is the highlight of my day every day!!

Looking back on it, it probably wasn't a great idea to jump into a one and a half hour hot yoga class for my very first session as I struggled to keep up and was sweating like crazy, but despite all of that, I still loved it and have been doing hot yoga classes ever since at a studio closer to my house. The staff working here are very kind and friendly and were there at the beginning of class welcoming everyone. Even though I couldn't keep up with the class, I was never made to feel uncomfortable about it. The instructor was great at teaching the yoga class. Overall a great yoga studio for anyone in the Bristol area!

I'd never done Pilates until this week and I think I may be hooked. So far I've taken two classes with Sally and she is awesome. She explains everything very clearly and makes sure everyone has correct form so you don't have to worry about pulling something out of wack. Sally's on it. She won't let that happen. Along with being a well informed and effective instructor Sally is incredibly welcoming and warm. As for Pilates itself, I may have finally found the exercise that I look forward to! Is that possible?? Apparently it is. In the wise words of Kim Kardashian, "It's like an easy workout, but you feel it, so it's not annoying, you know?" I do know, Kim. I certainly feel it.

Sallie takes the time to show you the correct positions in order to avoid injury and target the right muscles. She is willing to stop and answer questions and demonstrates the positions clearly. There seems to be a mix of younger and older participants. The classes are small so you are able to get individual attention. The studio itself is very clean and the decor is classy. I would definitely recommend this studio as a place to try pilates for the first time or continue to take classes!

Stop deleting my review to try and silence me. I will keep reposting it…read more Would not recommend this place to anyone. I regret saying I took my first ever reformer Pilates class here and had the worst experience. I took Andi's class. I read her bio on the website and was excited seeing she was also a yoga instructor (yoga is a big part of my life) and very experienced. I arrived to the studio a little nervous as I'm brand new to reformer Pilates and did the class by myself. (I booked a class described as beginner friendly) I entered the building and she looked me up and down and turned away from me to go back to talking to the other 4 girls who were there for the class. They clearly all knew each other and were regulars to this class. She didn't say a single word to me. I had never been to this studio and had no idea what to do. I spotted a wall of cubbies that I walked over to, and put my stuff down. She stopped her conversation (gossiping about another Pilates instructor) to say "is this your first class" in a very annoyed, condescending tone. I said yes and she told me I needed grip socks, if I didn't have any to go bare foot. And returned back to the gossip with the other girls. This attitude / tone of voice continued as she briefly explained the reformer and walked away. I wasn't welcomed, asked for my name, asked if I needed any help, shown around the studio, nothing. I felt like a nuisance for being there. I felt like I was back in high school and this was the click of mean girls. Mid class she called me out to fix my form "Allie, is it?" Again very condescending. Yes, considering you know every other girl here, that's my name. You would know if you had welcomed me and introduced yourself. At the end of class there wasn't a single word as I quickly grabbed my things and left. Spent $40 to be treated like dog shit. Really sad that this place lives up to the "stuck up mean girl" stereotype around Pilates. Do better. It's a shame because the studio is beautiful and I would have loved to be a regular here. But this place will never get my money again. I follow their instagram and this instructor is always looking for clients to fill up her classes. You can't run a female dominated business and be a mean girl.
