Dr Wada helped me with my adult acne and rosace. However, my face was disfigured by her filler injections which I have later learned were not used correctly to address my concerns. I had horrible-looking "ridges" of fillers across my cheeks and upper lip. Dr. Wada insisted I looked "beautiful". The results were awful! I underwent injections to reverse the fillers, but I still looked freakish for at least a year. I do not recommend fillers from Dr. Wada. She clearly does not understand proper applicatio. read more

Wonderful experience. When a doctor's office to which I was referred put me on hold and then disconnected in response to my saying, "Yes, I know you don't have any openings, but this is an absolute EMERGENCY, can't ONE of the doctors there see me?!!!" I was distraught and desperate to figure out my next step. Fellow Yelpers guided me to Dr. Jane Wada and I can say it was great advice. The front office when I called said there were no openings, asked me to hold for a minute, and then came back to say that the doctor had agreed to see me and if I was willing to wait until they could squeeze me in, then I could just head on over. Walking into the office I was greeted by two of the nicest front office people ... friendly, big smiles, nice manner. And Dr. Wada was very gracious, enormously helpful, and got right down to treating the problem. Her office nurse had a fabulous manner, put me right at ease, and I hardly even felt the shot she delivered you-know-where. I was desperate for help, they came through for me, and with big smiles to cheer me up through a rough patch. Really, just a great experience. My 78-year-old mother went to see Dr. Wada in late October of 2020 to check a bump on her leg. What was supposed to be a scrap turned into a hole in her leg the size of a golf ball. Dr. Wada sliced so deeply into her leg that she hit a vein. Of course, my mother did not know how horrible the wound was until a couple of days later because she had been numbed and the wound was covered. When she took off the bandages the wound was massive, deep, and large. She went back to the doctor, but she did nothing except cover it back up. In the last 6 months my mom has had to take 4 rounds of antibiotics, prescribed by her primary doctor. He was flabbergasted by the insane wound that Dr. Wada had created and has been monitoring her. The wound has still not healed, and my mother has been in constant, tear-filled pain and discomfort. My mom has had breast cancer, colon cancer, shingles, and heart issues. First of all, my wife brought my 3 year old daughter to her office, she told me it was an overall unpleasant experience, from the receptionist to dr wada herself. But i figured, shes got a decent rating on yelp, how bad could she be? Then one day I needed to go there for a rash on my leg that wouldnt clear up. The first red flag should have been when the receptionist asked how I was going to pay BEFORE asking what my ailment was. When I pointed out that lapse in bedside manner, she didn't seem to care. Needless to say, I'm going to score their customer service a zero. Dr Wada herself, while I'm sure shes very knowledgeable and experienced, she is EXTREMELY pushy and doesnt want you to waste her time telling her what ails you. She was very condescending to me, cutting me off multiple times while i was trying to tell her what the problem was. Bedside manner score: zero. Suggested treatment: constant dosage of benadryl. My THREE year old daughters suggested treatment: constant dosage of benadryl. I'll give it a shot, but sorry I'm not liquoring up my toddler. Did I mention she doesn't care to hear that you have concerns about dosing up my kid with benadryl? Sane treatment idea score: Zero. And lets be honest, in the end the ONLY thing that matters: did she cure me? Nope. Zero points there. On the plus side, while I was waiting around to be basically kicked out for the next patient, I snagged a HUGE handful of trial face washes and lotions. One point. Dr Jane Wada (dermatologist) is the best in her field. I was recommended by my fiance and his family. What I love about her is the east coast mentality that she has. She doesn't want to waste your time nor hers with sugarcoating. Her vast knowledge in her field is what gives her the ability to not only leave you feeling confident about your visit, but excited and comfortable for the next time you come in. Her staff is small, always smiling, sweet and fast. A team any doctor would want her their side. Even though I swing more towards the holistic approach, it's caring, detailed and educated doctors like Jane Wada who keep me confident in western medicine. read more

I'm really surprised at some of the bad reviews here! I was referred to Dr. Wada by my cousin who was a regular patient at this office. I have only needed to see Dr. Wada twice in my life, both being in my adulthood. The first time was in 2010 for severe adult acne and the second time being a few days ago for the same reason. It has been only a few days since I have started treatment that she has recommended for my face and I could tell a huge difference the very next day! Pimples were going down and were getting smaller in size, my face was just feeling great! She will always try to go the less expensive route as well, providing you with samples to get you by until prescriptions can be filled or to see if you like a product. She also has tons of samples out in her waiting room area of top of the line products. I loved Dr. Wada's nurse, I could feel her concern and I was able to relate very well to her right off the bat. I also feel that Dr. Wada is a very warm person, regardless of what others have said in their reviews. It had been quite a few years since I had seen her last and I felt she was very to the point, but also very caring and concerned for my issues in needing to see her. She explains how to use the products she is recommending for you to use and gives you plenty of samples as well as coupons to take to your pharmacy. If she feels that the actual distributor is cheaper than going to your regular pharmacy, she will tell you exactly how to go about getting those products for cheap. My only complaint about this office is the actual office staff. Years ago they had an adorable older woman that answered the phones there and booked the appointments. She was so warm and welcoming, They have a younger lady working there now who is extremely quiet and looks to be bothered all the time. I called to let the office know that I was running late for my appointment, you know, to be responsible because I really needed to see the doctor, the gal acted like I was wasting her time with that phone call. That probably wasn't her intent, but it was the way I took it. In any case, I do like Dr. Wada, and feel that she gets the job done. I feel that my face is on its way to happiness again. read more

Dr. Wada is nice enough. She is quick and seems to listen to what your issues are. I was happy in the beginning but then it seemed that EVERYTHING you want to know, ask, etc, MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. So, now that my medication has run out, that was preventing painful cysts, all I need is a refill.... This is the ONLY medicine that has worked for my issue and has been working all year. I called to get a refill called in only to be told "You need to make an appointment". So in order to get my $900 (!!!!) creme, now I have to make a $150 office appointment on top of it for her to see the exact same issue and tell me the exact same thing? Seems fair and like an office that really cares about their patients. Oh, I'm sorry, if you make an appointment, that's what happens. If you don't mind paying an office visit (like me, since my insurance doesn't cover dermatology), then Dr. Wada is good. I'm looking for another doctor now. Before moving to this area I had a Derm in Studio City who didn't seem to have issues calling in prescriptions. So I guess I'll suck up the drive for one appointment there instead of having to stop into Dr. Wada's office every month. read more

Never got to the dermatologist. I was just on the phone with one of the receptionists asking to schedule me for a cancellation they had. Sounded like an older woman. She was VERY VERY rude. Extremely snappy, influencing me to not schedule an appointment at all; one of those pompous types you never wish to see in person. I have to say that I'm really surprised at the negative reviews for Dr. Wada and her office. I guess if you're thin skinned (pun intended) this isn't the place for you. But if you want experienced, professional treatment at a price significantly less than you'll find at westside dermatologists, this is the place to go. First of all, if you want a lengthy examination with Dr. Wada then schedule it in advance. As a fair-skinned redhead, I've had plenty of instances where I obsess over something and want Dr. Wada to hold my hand--and I let her office know this in advance so that they can schedule in the extra time. I've found this to be a very busy office and there are lots of people waiting to see the doctor. Her staff have her on a schedule so people can be seen in a reasonable amount of time. So communicate with them, get what you need, and there will be no reason to complain. As far as Dr. Wada being condescending, I have never found her to be condescending, but she definitely isn't the touchy-feely type. I don't visit her for a hug, I visit her for quality skincare and have always found her to be pleasant and friendly--but she is all business, and I appreciate that. The front office can be a little brusque and some of the staff are nicer than others, but I can live with that. They're on top of appointments, get you in and out of there in a reasonable amount of time and will also submit your insurance paperwork. The part about not accepting credit/debit cards can be a drag, since I don't really carry a checkbook anymore, but the couple of times I've forgotten they've sent me home with a self-addressed envelope and I've mailed the check in--no big deal. Now here's the big deal. Dr. Wada has been practicing for at least 30 years and knows how to diagnose and treat. In my case, she's treated everything from dermatitis to a pre-cancerous lesion, to a split lip to my vanity. I get compliments on my skin all the time and I owe it to Dr. Wada. Patients in her waiting room run the gamut from seniors to preadolescents, and she treats all their skin issues. I'm thrilled to have found her. read more

My Hero! I was referred to Dr. Wada by a friend who had previously dealt with similar acne problems to mine. Within a seconds, the doctor had a plan for how to help cure my acne; she gave me tons of samples,and coupons for my prescribed medication. She even used an injection on a couple of painful and obvious breakout spots. Those froze up and disappeared within a day! I started taking the acne medication when I got home. The coupons Dr. Wada had given me worked, but they reduced the price of the pills to $50/bottle as opposed to $30 as she had promised. Still, I don't mind springing an extra $20 if the stuff actually works. It did!! Within a couple of weeks I was absolutely free of any acne and did not even have any return breakouts! The only complaint I have is that every time I have even the smallest question or concern when I call the office, I am immediately scheduled for another visit...w/a copay....and then billed separately again by mail for whatever consultation or service she provides me there. Sometimes I just want to ask a question without having to schedule time out of work to make an appointment. Other than that, I'm very happy with the results I have gotten from Dr. Wada. read more

I've been a patient of Dr Wada's for 20 years and I just had to write her a great review! Dr Wada is probably one of the most competent and knowledgeable dermatologists in the area. She originally treated me for severe acne in my late teens with Accutane which was very new at the time but the results were far beyond my expectations! I had visited several other dermatologists with zero results. She has also given me derma peels and some great sample products to try. My advice to you.... IF you want great results for your skin, especially acne, that will be aggressive, affordable, and lasting Dr Wada is the dermatologist who can treat you. I've been going to Jane Wada since I was a kid. I have the worst eczema in the world. She's great at prescribing medications that work fast and she really knows what she's doing. She's been in the business for over two decades. She only works on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Friday. So be sure to make an appointment. She's always booked but the receptionists are super sweet and keep you in mind if there's a cancellation. Jane Wada accepts a variety of insurances so ask the receptionist if they accept yours. i highly recommend her. read more

Had the worst experience, I had to wait 1 1/2 hr so she could see me and when she saw me she just glanced at my rash and without any word gave me the prescription. No explanations, so asked why do I have this rash. She gave me the nastiest look and attitude and told it is psoriasis. I asked her really are you sure. She replied with another rude answer I have never been to a dr that has such poor manners and attitude. Not only that you leave her office without her explaining to your issue. Really odd experience ~ Dr had no idea what was going on with my skin. Named 3 or 4 totally different things that it "could be." Ended up giving me lotion samples. Did not check me for skin cancer, just glanced at me and said "you don't have any spots." Will not go back here again. read more

Dr. Wada is condescending! I took my daughter in for wart treatment. After a week, her warts were doing better but the method wasn't working for my daughter's activities. I asked to change the treatment and Dr. Wada talked over me and decided that "it was too much work for me". I told her that it wasn't that it was too much work. My daughter was in pain and didn't want to have huge bandages on her fingers during her swim camp! She made me feel as if I was too lazy to treat my daughter's warts. I have patched my daughter's eye every day for a year and a half to treat a vision disorder that she has. Dr. Wada has no right to judge me as a mother and tell me that treating the wart was too much work for me. Bottom line, if you want bad customer service this is the place to go. I was reccomended here by a fmaily member but wasn't happy with them at all! I went in to have my moles checked which I haven't had before and Dr. just asked me what I want her to look at. I told her I wanted to have a look at my skin/ moles and she didn't seem thorough at all. Skin cancer runs in my family, so I thought by knowing this, she would have been a little bit more interested in what I and And the front desk!!!? The girl at the window didn't seem to know what was going on, and when I asked for pricing on a few procedures, they told me to call my insurance and find out myself! I work front desk at a doctor office and I found that to be a little unacceptable. Their job is to help you with your insurance, quote you for procedures, help you set up appointments.. I think that Dr. Wada's best days are long gone. To do a full examination, she does not even request that the patient put a gown on. Asks you to roll up your pants leg and looks at your shin and calf area. Very poor as a dermatologist. Additionally, she does not seem to really want to engage with a patient. Probably at one time she was an excellent doctor, but at this point it is time to move on. read more

Dr. Wada is great. She knows her stuff. The problem is she cured my problem and now I dont have to see her again. This is my thank you. Her staff is ridiculous. Very nice in person but horrible over the phone. DO NOT LET THEM PLACE YOU ON HOLD. Several times they just didnt pick back up, others they have you wait for several minutes then they just pick up like its a new call and you have to explain again. The older one is really rude on the phone, talks over you, tells you what she has and gets attitude if you start telling her the days that you need. Needs better phone ettitque training. Im surprise I had the patience to keep calling back to get an appointment with her rude staff. Dr. Wada is amazing, super knowledgeable, does what a doctor should do, cure the patient. If there was a way to write this review without giving any stars at all I would've done it. DO NOT GO to this quack unless you want to get botoxed. Because that's all she wants to do. I dunno if she's any good at it, but she doesn't seem to be knowledgeable or interested in anything else! I have psoriasis of the nails which can be treated with periodic injections and the three times I went to see her (for the injections) she tried to get out of doing them because that's not something she likes to do. Well tough luck lady, YOU picked this profession. Instead, she spent half-an-hour each appointment talking me (make that yelling at me because I kept insisting that I wasn't interested) into getting botoxed on my forehead. Umm, hey, how about my painful nails? I'm 45, have practically no wrinkles except laugh lines WHICH I LIKE, I'm not interested in looking frozen but I DO have a problem with my nails. How about THAT? The office staff is courteous, but I was there to see the doctor, not the staff. Oh and they only take cash and checks... 21st century anyone? Prepare for long waits to see her inept majesty. I've dealt with Rosacea and acne break outs most of my life (well into adulthood), and she was the first and only dermatologist I visited that actually cleared up both problems. I have been a patient of Dr. Wada for over a year now and I never used to have any issues until a new nurse named "Laura" was hired. First of all they are very outdated and don't use a computer. They have one receptionist and one nurse. The nurse clearly cannot handle the position. Every time I have an appointment she doesn't do her end so I can pic up my accutane prescription. When there is an issue with the insurance that the doctors office needs to handle she proceeds to tell me that she can't sit on the phone with the insurance company because she is too busy. I have never in my life heard of anyone acting this way in a office with a patient. She is rude, immature, and unpleasant to be around. Today I had another issue with this office because I had an appointment on Thursday and she didn't do her job again.. What a shock. So they told me I had to come in again and pay another $50 co pay when I was in there 4 days prior and did my end of my appointment. She did not process the info until the 5 days later. When I asked to speak with Dr. Wada about it she said she's unavailable and she doubts she will call me back. This is just the most ridiculous place I have ever been too. She told me on the phone "if you would like you can go to another dermatologist the office" HA. If you don't want to be treated like a piece of shit then do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Dr. Wada herself is a great dermatologist but she needs a new staff, her airhead receptionist and rude inconsiderate nurse who can't do her job need to go. read more

Dr. Wada was recommended to me by a friend. The first time I went to her I thought her manner brusque but I soon realized that she really knows her stuff and gets down to business quickly. She may not have the best bedside manner but she is one of the finest dermatologists I have ever been to, and I've been to a few. Whether she is performing minor surgery or injecting Botox, she is the consummate professional and you will be happy with the results. I recommend her wholeheartedly. read more

I've been going to Dr. Jane for 25 years. She is wonderful, not only professionally but personnally. She has a wonderful "bedside manner" and a great personality. I have recommended her to many friends and they also think she is wonderful. Her office staff is kind and very efficient and they have become friends of mine. I recently went to see Dr. Wada, and wow what a great experience - just all around excellent service. Her staff is very nice, and Dr. Wada really knows her stuff. I've seen other doctors for the same types of issues, but Dr. Wada really gave me a fresh perspective and I actually left her office with information that I hadn't heard before. In addition to the staff, Dr. Wada herself was just such a nice person and gave me a feeling that she genuinely wanted to help me solve my issues. Some one writing a poor review because the doctor does not like to take credit cards, GET A LIFE! Quality of life is about (in my case Psoriasis) getting my disease to be basically non symptomatic. Dr. Wada is very good at that and tries very hard listen to what has worked for me in the past. Prior to Dr. Wada I had a dermatologist who made my condition go from bad to worse. Dr. Wada is also extremely well educated about little things that help you, such as her recommendation to use a hair dryer for jock itch prior to applying medication. look at a tube of Lotriman, it says only to wash the effected area and wipe dry prior to application of medication. A towel will not get you dry, it will only keep a moist area for the fungus to grow. Doesn't sound like a big deal but when you have the same symptoms for 10 years with poor results and then someone says wait a minute and do something so simple but so missed and you get a big turnaround in one week. By the way this not a review for a feel good restaurant, it is not about how I used my credit card at the store. Its about your quality and comfort of life in the long run after you leave that doctors office. Dr. Wada is one of those doctors you want and need to keep. read more

I had previously taken my son to Dr. Wada to have two warts removed, and I found her fees to be excessive. However, my step-daughter was being treated by this doctor for a facial acne condition. We are doubly insured, and the insurance companies were trying to shift responsibility onto each other. A balance of over $500 had built up since she charges $100 per visit, and she wanted full payment before any more visits. We decided to take my step-daughter to Kaiser instead, and this doctor had said she was happy that she would be able to continue treatment. However, she immediately turned on us and said she would not release our step-daughter to be treated at Kaiser or release her file until we paid the entire balance off. When my wife came in to make payment. the doctor saw her and said nothing to her and rudely walked back into her office. We gave her a post-dated check with very specific instructions and an agreement that she wouldn't submit the check for payment until the first day of the month, but she immediately cashed the check the next day. She caused my checking account to be overdrawn and was charged a $36.00 fee. I would never go to this doctor again for anything, and I would not recommend her to anyone I know. I am a Nurse who know all types of Doctors, good and bad. Jane Wada is a "Great" Dermatologist. No, she doesn't have time to sit and Bullshit, she gets right to the point and takes care of whatever it is, that you need. I'm offended by the negative remarks on yelp and urge you to disregard because she really knows her business. Unfortunately office staff aren't always cordial but Dr. Wada is a wonderful Doctor and person. I have referred many people to her, my family included and I've been a patient myself. I am very surprised at the negative comments about Dr. Wada. I won't comment on the staff because I have no feelings one way or the other with regard to them. However, Dr. Wada herself is great. She takes care of in one appointment what other doctors would make you come back at least 2 or 3 times for. Her wait time can be long but I believe that is because she has a lot of loyal patients. She has been my family's dermatologist for a variety of issues over at least 20 years. I wouldn't even consider seeing another dermatologist. She is knowledgeable, experienced, and concerned for her patients. I personally would highly recommend her to anyone. read more
