It's been two years since I saw Dr. Jan and my skin still crawls when I think about her. I will tell you, I am a world traveler, I am not emotional, I'm a very strong independent 30 y.o. female. But I left her office crying, twice. For some unknown reason I was losing my hair. She said the hair loss was due to stress. I explained that I actually have no stress in my life. I play music with my friends, I have a great design job, no kids, no mortgage, I'm living the dream. I'm absolutely not stressed. She said her diagnosis was stress-related hair loss. I asked her to explore other options. She ripped hair out of my head and walked out the room. She completely dismissed me and refused to come back in. The whole appointment took 5 min. I went to a different doctor, and in five minutes the woman determined that I've taken too much vitamin A for a period of time and it was causing me to lose a significant portion of hair on top of my head. Dr. Jan was unprofessional, her office was extremely stressful, and when I asked the other nurses about it, they said that's just the way she is. (Now to be clear, most everyone in my family is in the medical profession. I don't like bitching about doctors. They have a load on their plates thats extremely heavy, complicated, and people always want the best service from doctors.) COINCIDENTLY, I went to my mother and said mom I had one bad experience with the doctor, and when I imitated Dr. Jan's voice, my mom's jaw dropped! She screamed, "Dr. Jan!" and explained that she almost put in a official complaint against Dr.Jan after my mom had seen her concerning skin cancer on her face. My mother (an ER and hospice nurse of 30 years! who NEVER filed a complaint against anyone) found Dr. Jan's behavior extremely unprofessional, her diagnosis inadequate, her prognosis inaccurate and frankly, quite rude. The woman talks like a valley girl, dismisses you, and she was dressed like Judy Garland from the Wizard of Oz with sparkly red pumps on. And she talks with such a valley girl accent you can't believe you're in the Northeast. I'm not saying this because this is anonymous. I'm warning you. Don't go in there. From one human to the next, I do not believe this was an isolated incident. I do not recommend this person. read more
