I called and specifically asked if they offered a certain procedure, the receptionist said yes and that I would need a consultation before the procedure. I went to the consultation and explained my concern, I felt somewhat dismissed when trying to ask questions and when I kept mentioning the procedure the subject was changed or I was interrupted. The following appointment when I arrived they tried to upsell me to do a full laser hair removal treatment which I did not mention once, let alone request. When trying to resolve what I thought must have been a simple miscommunication I was once again interrupted and dismissed when asking questions. I left feeling disappointed and frustrated because of the way I was dealt with but ultimately because I felt my skin concerns were not addressed. I'm sure if you're just looking for laser hair removal it's probably fine but don't expect to have all of your questions answered or to not feel like she's rushing you through the process just for another appointment. read more

I started seeing Leslie around 1.5 years ago for ongoing skin checks - I need to go twice a year due to BRCA2+. I was tired of the unpredictable chaos of the large medical systems - I had had dermatology at MGH cancel twice on me with no rescheduling possibilities for 6+ months, except for a single day they were offering for rescheduling but that would have resulted in me having to move all of my clients to another day. Since I'm supposed to have skin checked every 6 months, that was a problem. I'm so happy I made the switch. Leslie is thorough, knowledgeable, easy to be with, and thoughtful (when I asked what she thought about about nipple tattoos post-preventive-mastectomy she took the time to help me think about them in a broader and more practical sense than I was initially, which was very helpful). She's ready to answer any and all skin questions I have, and I'm aware that she has never offered me any of the many products she has available for sale in her office. Her business is not profit driven. Enter my daughter, home to eczema galore and - it now appears - impetigo. I wrote her late last Friday and was not able to catch her before the office closed but her receptionist called me back and encouraged me to email Leslie. She responded very early Saturday morning and I have been going back and forth with her all weekend diagnosing (by photo) my daughter's issue with treatment options offered, all under the time crunch of my daughter leaving tomorrow morning for camp. I have asked her *SO MANY QUESTIONS* and honestly sound somewhat hysterical; she has not balked once. I'm incredibly impressed and solidly a dedicated and loyal patient henceforth. read more

I felt that this clinic was an operation. I'd like to see her practice be reviewed and monitored by authorities. Her secretary was very rude and Leslie Lucchina simply did not care or listen. After asking a few routine questions she responded to my serious concern by "I don't know". I asked her to at least remove a moll and she wanted to charge me $350 in addition to charging my insurance. After calling her out on it, she said "ok pay half". Dr. Lucchina told me she took my insurance for just a $10 copay and then literally 3 weeks later proceeded to tell me she didnt take my insurance and that it will be $250 out of pocket with zero remorse that they gave me the wrong information up front . read more

I won't give it raving or horrible reviews (yet) because I haven't yet begun the treatment she gave me... however at face value (no pun intended) ha ha... it was a-OK. I got an appointment within a week of calling to make an initial which is amazing. I arrived a few minute before my appointment and yes, the front desk people were generally meh; not the nicest but hey, it probably sucks to work a front desk job for 12 dollars an hour for fancy Back Bay doctors so I have some empathy/sympathy. They def. did the thing where they talked unprofessionally about their social lives in front of the patients (HUGE PET PEEVE OF MINE) but oh well. The MD was friendly and thorough; she did take a detailed patient history and asked what had been done and tried before. She was 100 percent rushed & I don't think wanted to hear a single question I have but again, I am sure she has a busy schedule but it doesn't really excuse less than excellent care seeing as she is BACK BAY DERMATOLOGIST. I suppose if I were older, richer, prettier, etc. she would have given me more time of day but... I'm not so... that is that. I had been to Dr. Lucchina years ago. My PCP gave me a referral which allowed up to 3 visits. Upon arrival I remembered one of the reasons I didn't like going there. The receptionist, a dwarf like woman with a superiority complex was number one. About four feet tall with the ability to look down on you. The Dr. ran late and was rushed. Perhaps she should allow more time per appt. And I feel like she wanted me to use up all three referrals whether I needed the follow up or not. My first follow up appt I waited 25 mins while she ran late and she looked at me for literally 20 seconds, and I had to pay my copay. 3rd follow up, which was totally unnecessary, 35 mins, 10 seconds, 3rd copay. The very worst derm I have ever seen. I went to her office a total of 5 times and she did not give me a diagnose, or treatment any of the 5 times I was there. She forgot she had asked me for bloodwork and things we has discussed in previous appointments. Additionally, each of her appointments lasted 5 min. I would rate her 0 stars if I could. Dr. Lucchina is the worst, and most ineffective dermatologist out there. I saw her throughout high school, and she did absolutely nothing for my skin, was always late for appointments, and was overall indifferent towards helping me. My mother would also see her, and Dr. Lucchina would often times talk to my mom as if my mom were her therapist, reveal personal issues, and her family woes. Meanwhile, I'd be breaking out, suffering from acne, and she'd do nothing to help me. I would be hard pressed to find a dermatologist worse than Dr. Lucchina. I would highly recommend avoiding this dermatologist. I had a mole removed that l was ensured would not cause scarring (l let her know I didn't want to do it if there was a chance of scarring). Months later there is a large scar. The after effects are literally worse than the original mole. To make matters worse, l was told to show the scar to her "during my husband's appointment". I did this, not asking any other questions about my skin because it was not my appointment, and was mailed a $100 bill. Worse again? She said she wasn't surprised by the scarring considering it was removed from my upper body and more likely to scar! I explained this to the receptionist and there was not even an apology. We've all moved under Dr. Graber's care. Skip this office! read more

I absolutely love Dr. Lucchina. I started going to her two years ago because I had horrible adult acne caused by stress. Nothing, nor anyone had ever been successful. I always do a ton of research on my doctors (especially on Yelp) so I was a bit hesitant when I saw some of the previous reviews. Needless to say, I made an appointment and I couldn't have made a better decision. Dr. Lucchina was aggressive in treating my acne and genuinely took my concerns and feedback into consideration while we modified treatment. I can say that I have not had a breakout in over a year and my skin it flawless. Sure, some of the products she carries are expensive but I've never once felt pressured to purchase anything, and they are all products you can buy online. In fact Dr. Lucchina is willing to give you samples to try them out beforehand. Also, I always make early appointments and she has never been late and I am always in and out in less than 20 minutes. Now that my acne is taken care of I'm excited to move on to some of the other services she offers. I have and will continue to recommend her to everyone I know. She is really the best dermatologist I've been to (and I've been to almost 20+ in both Boston and NY). Rave reviews all around. read more

My primary care doctor referred me to Dr. Lucchina. I went to 3-4 appointments and each time my appointment lasted 5-15 minutes. The office is just very snobby. Dr. Lucchina is extremely abrupt and her little assistant was not pleasant to deal with. On my last appointment, Dr. Lucchina told me that I had discoid lupus. She did not take the time to explain my condition to me and had the nerve to tell me not to google it because "it would freak me out". And just like that she kicked me out her office in less than 15 minutes. That was my last appointment with her. It is pretty ridiculous that a doctor would spent more time trying to sell me tinted moisturizer and sunscreen than she did with explaining my diagnosis. I will say she is a good dermatologist. Prior to going to Dr. Lucchina, I have had multiple doctors misdiagnose my skin condition and she was able to accurately diagnose with a few lab tests. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Lucchina. I started going to her when she was at BWH, and was referred by my primary care provider at BWH Womens Center. She literally saved my life, removing a mole which later showed to be cancerous. That was probably 15 years ago. I continue to see her, have had several subsequent procedures with both her and her referral (plastic surgeon). She is a consummate medical professional, top of her field, passionate and compassionate. As for her staff, I find them to be professional, too. TBH, I think anyone would be lucky to get into her practice as a patient. (I just wish parking near her office was easier.) read more

Had a minor procedure performed by Dr. Lucchina. At the time of my appointment I was promised that any follow-up procedure, if necessary, would be at no additional cost to me. Ultimately, a follow-up appointment was necessary, however, I was informed by Dr. Lucchina's receptionist that Dr. Lucchina had no recollection of our previous conversation during my last visit, she had made no notation in her file, and was not willing to honor her promise or give me the benefit of the doubt. I was told that a subsequent procedure would be the full $250. When I got to the office, I saw Dr. Lucchina sitting in her reception area with her receptionist but she did not acknowledge me. Notwithstanding that she likely knew that there would be some disagreement about the nature of my appointment and what I would be expected to pay, she made no effort to come out and speak to me. Her receptionist greeted me and reiterated what we had discussed over the phone. I opted not to proceed with my appointment. A few minutes later, I called Dr. Lucchina's office because I wanted to speak with her directly rather than hearing this news secondhand. When I called the office, I am confident it was indeed Dr. Lucchina who answered the phone. Nevertheless, I asked to speak with Dr. Lucchina and I was told that she wasn't available and was "with a patient" event though it was the exact time of my appointment. I opted not to confront Dr. Lucchina on the fact that she was impersonating her own secretary to avoid speaking to me. I left my number for a call back which I never received. To date, I never received a call back from Dr. Lucchina even after separately sent an e-mail summarizing the situation and expressing my dissatisfaction. Dermatologists are impossible to get appointments with! I called MGH and they couldn't fit me in until fall. Dr. Lucchina was able to squeeze me in that same week and I didn't wait any longer than 5 minutes to see the doctor. She also had many products in the office for my acne-prone skin and had great suggestions for alternatives that I could buy at CVS. I wish it were this easy for me to see every doctor. read more

I was traveling on business and had a terrible infection in my finger and needed to see a physician asap. Dr. Lucchina welcomed me to her practice and immediately fit me into her busy schedule. From the minute I walked into the practice I felt like I was the most important patient in her practice. Her staff was inviting and friendly, the practice is gorgeous, and Dr. Lucchina made me feel calm and welcome. She is a brilliant physician that listens and is highly educated. I was scared that my infection was dangerous, and she has an incredible bedside manner that made me feel safe and comfortable. She has even taken the time to text me numerous times to make sure I was ok and see if there is anything I needed. I don't live in Boston and this was one of the best experiences I have ever had in a practice. I highly recommend Dr. Lucchina for any of your dermatological needs, whether they be medical or cosmetic this practice is cutting edge and the staff is incredible. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Lucchina's since 1998. Not only is she a great cosmetic Dermatologist she is a skillful medical doctor in the field of Dermatology. I have never had an issue with her support staff and her office in Back Bay is gorgeous. If I need an appointment I call and schedule one with no problem, I have never seen her assistant on her phone (either texting or personal call). I would not trust anyone more than Dr. Lucchina to manage my skin health. I'm thankful she is my doctor (and soon to be my teenage daughter's Dermatologist as well). read more

I have seen Dr. Lucchina twice in the past few months for adult acne. I have found her to be extremely sympathetic and knowledgeable. She fit me in on short notice to treat a bad breakout with a cortisone shot, which made it go away very fast, and helped me find a course of treatment to manage my acne for the longer run. I never felt that she was rushing, instead she spent time asking about me in order to get to know me better as a patient. I also found the receptionist to be very nice, and the office is beautiful and clean and convenient to the Copley T station. read more

BUYER BEWARE- I went to Dr. Lucchina to resolve pigment problems on my face, which I acquired from a pregnancy. Dr. Lucchina claimed that her laser would remove the pigment. I paid over $2000 for my treatment. Her bedside manner was very good and she seemed to answer my many questions professionally. Also, she had good email communication with me prior to the procedure, as I live in Vermont. All this was PRIOR to the treatment. The laser had the exact effect of a light glycolic peel and after one week and some light peeling, I looked no different than before. I emailed her and asked to discuss my dissatisfaction with the treatment and guess what? NO COMMUNICATION. The communication lines had gone dead. I waited 2 weeks to be respectful and then tried to contact her again, but I never heard from her. In short, she took my money and I had nothing to show. It makes me feel queasy inside even now to think about how she took my money. She may be effective with other treatments, but I absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND DR. LUCCHINA FOR LASER TREATMENT AND I CANNOT RECOMMEND HER AS AN ETHICAL PERSON. P.S. The sullen secretary was also present, but she was the least of my problems! read more

I am not a fan of Dr. Lucchina. I went in for my first appointment six months ago. At the time, I didn't have a job (she knew this) and she tried to push all her products (not Rx's) on me, convincing me they were really the only way to clear my face - by the end of the appointment, my bill totaled to $375 plus the $30 co-pay! I had to decline on all the creams, washes, lotions and felt embarrassed for having to do so - I got a snide look and she left the room. How humiliating!! What doctor treats a patient that way?! A few months later, I needed to see a dermo again and deiced to give Dr. Lucchina another try. I went yesterday and was yet again, incredibly disappointed and sad after my visit. She obviously recognized me and from the get go, I felt as though my appointment was incredibly rushed and half-assed. I felt as though she was naming prescriptions for my face at random, without really taking into account my needs, concerns, etc. She was pretty much name dropping medicines and finally when she said one that I hadn't tried, she said "OK, lets go with that." Any time i asked a question, i felt like i was getting a response that made me feel stupid for asking. This is not how any doctor should be - EVER! I am completely unhappy with Dr. Lucchina and will no longer be going to her. I know I will get a small bit of satisfaction today when I call to have my medical records transferred to another dermatologist. I strongly recommend that if you have a lot of cash to drop on cosmetic treatments, want a doctor who doesn't sincerely care, and one who bases your treatment upon how much money you look like you have to spend, then go to Dr. Lucchina. read more

I have had very varied experiences here. Dr. Lucchina herself seems professional and knowledgeable, if a little rushed. However, it is absolutely true that the girl at the front desk is dismissive and unhelpful. She sits there sullenly texting on her cell phone, and acts like she's doing you a favor with every interaction. Of the three times I've been there, the middle time I waited 45 minutes before I finally said I had to reschedule so I could get back to work. Finally, this most recent visit was a follow up visit Dr. Lucchina insisted on. I even asked, if everything seemed better, did I still need to come in, and she said yes. I went, and she spent exactly 15 seconds with me, checking the issue which I knew was cleared up. I was charged my (not cheap) co-pay for this visit. I've been to many doctors who do not count the less than 1 minute follow up as a full doctor's office visit, and I'm very annoyed that I spent a large amount of money for a doctor to spend 15 seconds telling me what I already knew. I should have gone with my gut and cancelled the follow-up appointment, but I was trying to be a good patient. I won't be back... read more

Everyone here was really rude. The doctor was late, seemed rush and not helpful. The room was also freezing cold (which she did apologize for.) When I asked a follow up question about how the medicine works she told me I should just google it. Seems like an odd answer for a doctor to give. Dr Lucchina is just great! I have been seeing her since December 2010 for breakouts (I'm 25 so this is tricky hormonal acne) and my face looks great. She listened to my concerns, asked what I have done in the past (surprisingly not all derms ask this), and gave me a reasonable treatment plan of prescription pills and topical creams. She also suggested an over the counter drugstore brand so she isn't afraid to simply tell you what works. She of course also performs annual skin checks which everyone should get. I have never had a problem getting an appointment or rescheduling, and I find the staff in the office very nice. I have recommended her to friends and will continue to do so. :) read more

I have to totally disagree with the two negative reviews. I have been seeing Dr. Lucchina for a couple of years now and she is absolutely lovely. I have referred my best friend and husband to her and they both love her. She is on time, professional, extremely friendly and personable. Not to mention a fabulous dermatologist. She has lasered my face for both unsightly veins and brown spots. She did an amazing job. I don't know why I waited so long to get my brown spots lasered, what a difference! The spots are gone and I have a much smoother complexion. I don't have any issues with her assistant. She has always been nice to me and making an appointment is very easy and timely. read more

Totally different experience than others here on Yelp. Had first appointment of the day, and Dr. Lucchina was right on time! The atmosphere of her office is homey and welcoming with an air of elegance (it's in the Vendome Building on Commonwealth Avenue.) She was a good listener, gave me a great treatment with effective medications and skincare products. She was polite, courteous, and an excellent doctor. Would definitely recommend seeing her! I have been seeing Dr. Lucchina for several years and have had great results with her protocols. She is warm, kind and very accessible. I've sent several friends to her as well and they have all loved her. I do agree the front desk can be rude, but she has moved locations and her new office is gorgeous. She has a new receptionist as well who is lovely. Dr. L has treated my adult onset acne, removed a growth on the back of my head, treated my veins, botox --- the works. And never pushes product. I've been going to Dr Lucchina every month for over a year and she's absolutely wonderful. I never have to wait for more than 3 or 4 minutes to see her and can always get in for a last minute appointment (I'll be able to make an appointment that same day or the next day), which is much better than other doctors. I do agree that the front desk girl is very inefficient and rude- I can't believe that she's still working there (however, while the front desk is terrible, I think her assistant is great). read more

I've been to many dermatologists over the years (73 years old) with an array of skin issues from the harmless but bothersome to recently painful boils all over. Most of the dermatologists I've seen look you over quickly, call iwhatever it is, exzema and hand over a tube of hydrocortisone. Dr. Luccina is not one of these dermatologists. She is extremely thorough, doesn't leave a stone unturned in identifying exactly what is causing the ailment, she is gracious, personable, prompt, knowledgable and a God send as my boils are gone thanks to her! I'm happy to say, although late in life, I have found the only dermatologist I will ever be visiting. Her assistant Jackie is also very nice...what doctors office can you call in this day and age that either the physicians assistant or physician herself picks up the phone? read more

This woman is a hustler, and into it only for the money. She was rude and demeaning during the extremely cursory consultation, which cost $125 and lasted about 5 minutes, during which she barely let me speak. She said nothing about the treatment for $350 except some abstract wording. The consultation was in July and she had booked me for September: obviously I had some questions for her about what the procedure was going to be and what some of the terms she used meant before I came in. I called 4-5 times in 2 months, and the front desk had an excuse as to why she couldn't call me every time, each one flimsier than the next. I had even sent her a small card with some questions that she couldn't find time to answer all summer. Finally I gave up and called and cancelled the $350 appointment. TWO SECONDS later, it's not the receptionist, but Dr. Lucchina on the phone, all of a sudden so very available. "Are you the one that sent me the card, etc...? I cut her off with, "no, I'm the one calling to cancel the appointment I have with you." How mercenary is that! This woman is immediately sweet and attentive the second she realizes she's losing $350. Her dismissive, rude, and mercenary attitude should have rung a real warning bell. I gave this creepy doctor one too many chances as it was. If you have a brain in your head you will avoid this "doctor" at all cost (no pun intended.) read more

she misdiagnosed my daughter with what is a very serious skin condition!!!! then she prescribed a major antibiotic to be taken 4x daily. i questioned this...(as did she) so she went to see our family doctor (who we've had for a very long time). he said it was absolutely not what dr. lucchina said it was!!!! unbelievable that a doctor would do that in this day and age. it was just a sun rash. she had us thinking it was something much more serious!!! please beware! read more
