If you're looking for the best roast beef sandwiches on the planet, a good starting point would be any number of fabulous places located on Boston's North shore, the home of this delicacy. The Roast Beef "3-Way" is an iconic sandwich that seems to proliferate north of Boston. First, you start with best cut of beef for this menu item, and that is, the top round of the cow. Second, this cut of beef is then sous-vide for a minimum of 16 hours. Then the beef is roasted in the oven, hand sliced, and served bright red. The result is a beautiful rare red-colored meat that literally melts in your mouth. So 4 of us took the one-hour drive north to Jaime's Roast Beef, located in Peabody MA, based on the highest of recommendations from a fellow foodie. The Jamie's classic "3-way" is constructed with roast beef, American cheese, mayo, and BBQ sauce, which sounds a lot like a 4-way. Of course, you can get it any way you want, available in small (junior) for $9.50, in medium (regular) $10.50, and large (Super) $11.50. Pick any number of rolls: plain, onion, brioche, and more. So I ordered a couple different versions: the traditional 3-way on an onion roll, and also, one plain roast beef (with mayo) on a brioche roll, in order to get a more clean taste of the roast beef without any condiment conflict. And wow. Just wow. I don't know if Jaime's makes the BEST 3-Way RB sandwich or not, since there's always a decent amount of subjectivity when it comes to cuisine, however, I can't say I've had a better one this far in my life on this earth. I honestly preferred it fairly plain without the BBQ sauce and cheese. I'm somewhat more the purist here. But there's no limit to the combinations - build your own according to your own taste level. I also enjoyed the onion rings, not too thin, not too thick, just about right. Either way, it's a winner. 9.5. Very much worth the trip.

Holy roast beef Give me all the meats!!! If you're anywhere near Peabody and haven't been to Jamie's Roast Beef, you're missing out. The Angry Ferg & Greek Freak are next-level--perfectly cooked, tender, and piled high on a soft roll with just the right amount of sauce, and cheese. You can taste the quality in every bite. The staff is super friendly, the service is quick, and the place is always spotless. They clearly take pride in what they do. Whether you're a North Shore roast beef fanatic or just curious, this spot is a must-visit. Easily one of the best roast beef sandwiches I've ever had--Jamie's lives up to the hype! The Angry Ferg 6, 7 or 8 Oz. It top quality roast beef, cheddar, "jacked-up" JR BBQ & kickin' Cajun aioli Dayuuuumm!! Greek Freak Oh my!!!!! Whipped feta, roasted garlic spread, grilled balsamic marinated radicchio, red onions & tomato house dressing Also, 6, 7 or 8 Oz. Pro-tip, ice cream right next door

Another 5 stars for Jamie's. Today it was the Nashville Hot Chicken. This yard bird was da bomb! I started off YELPing with Nashville Hot chicks--Hot Lola's, The Roaming Rooster, and ilk. This sammich was one of the best I have ever eaten. Bird was perfectly fried and super moist on the inside. Magical slaw and spicy pickles layered under a just right toasted bun. The sauce gave just a bit of heat to the back of my taste buds. To some, it may not be hot enough--but you can always add some Tabasco. Ambiance is fine with about 4 to 5 tables. No Nicky today working the register, but the young man working the cash box will have a great opportunity to try some of the aforementioned chicken shacks on his next adventure. EAT HERE!

Jamie's Roast Beef absolutely delivers! After hearing rave reviews from my foodie crew, I had to check it out--and wow, they weren't kidding. The McDanBob Hands down, the best roast beef sandwich I've ever had. It's rich, juicy, perfectly stacked, and downright unforgettable. The Roast Beef Sub was solid too, but The McDanBob stole the show. My friend ordered the Nashville Hot Honey Chicken sandwich and instantly crowned it the best chicken sandwich of his life. I'm not exaggerating when I say--I've been dreaming about The McDanBob ever since. Already planning my return trip. This spot is a must!

3 Way Super Roast Beef Sandwich

The 3 way roast beef sandwich was delicious. Make sure you have lots of napkins-it's messy! And worth it. The service was also really good. I believe our server's name was Nikki, and she was SO friendly and helpful. Great food, great service. I definitely recommend it!

Really good roast beef. I tried my husband's super three-way and the meat was incredibly tender, though this is my personal preference ... I thought there was a little too much sauce. The whole sandwich was doused in it. I liked the tangy vinegar BBQ flavor but I also couldn't taste much else. It's also pretty ugly to eat. I'd eat this in front of family and close friends only. Maybe on a first date if you are feeling particularly aggressive and devil-may-care. The sauce gets all over your fingers, face, and shirt. The stack of napkins they give you is not enough. You can't even put the thing down to take a gulp of soda because then you'll smear it everywhere. And after you're done, the only thought in your head is, Damn, that was satisfying. Yes, it's a trek up to Peabody but it's worth it. I really liked the mural on the wall of all the cow parts. Food came out very fast. There are a few tables and seats if you're in the mood for chowing down right next to the sidewalk and making eye contact with all the people driving past.

5 Stars - Best Roast Beef on the Planet! Just when we thought our East Coast road trip couldn't get any better, we stumbled upon Jamie's Roast Beef and had a full-on culinary religious experience. Coming from California, we've suffered through plenty of "roast beef" that's basically pink cardboard on a roll. Jamie's? Night-and-day different. This is the real deal -- the kind of roast beef that makes you question every sandwich you've ever eaten in your life.We ordered a classic Beef & Cheese sub, a 3-Way (sauce, mayo, and BBQ... sweet mercy), and a Jr. just to "try" it. Every single one was absolute perfection: paper-thin shaved beef piled high, still warm and juicy, on a perfectly toasted roll that somehow holds everything together without falling apart. The meat is tender, flavorful, and seasoned like it's been loved its entire life. No skimping, no dryness, no sad lettuce filler -- just pure roast beef glory. And the staff? She greeted us road-weary travelers like we were long-lost family. If you're anywhere within a hundred miles of Jamie's, reroute. Cancel plans. Do whatever it takes. Nothing -- and I mean NOTHING -- in California even plays in the same league. We're already plotting our next trip back, and we haven't even left the state yet.Jamie's Roast Beef isn't just a meal... it's a destination. 11/10, no notes, see you soon!!!

This was my first time trying north shore roast beef and I'm sure it won't be the last! I didn't know what to expect, but heard that Jamie's was a really popular choice , so my partner and I decided to check it out. We were surprisingly the only ones in the restaurant dining in, but it seems like most people do takeout/delivery here. The cashier kindly greeted us and recommended some sandwich options for us. We ended up getting a "3 Way" and the "Sorry JR" sandwiches with a side of their truffle fries. In only a few minutes, everything was brought out to us. The sandwiches were super fresh, with very juicy meat and interesting sauce/topping combos. The portion for the truffle fries was very large, and I loved the freshness and crispiness of them. The truffle/garlic flavor was pretty strong so I'd probably just go for their regular fries if I were to come back here. Still, we really enjoyed everything we tried at Jamie's and the super kind and friendly staff made the experience much more memorable!

GOOD LORD. If this isn't one of the best things I've ever tasted, then I don't know what is!! My husband is a North Shore native so he advised this South Shore schmuck (me) that a "3-way" is the only way to correctly order this type of roast beef sandwich. The flavor of this sandwich is unbelievable. I don't think you need teeth to eat this as the beef is so tender/soft and pairs perfectly with the sauce & mayo combo. You can taste the crunch of the toasted bread in every bite which was unexpected but delightful. I would definitely love to come here again next time I'm on the North Shore!

Not from around here so I asked while in line at Dunkin's for the best roast beef around and someone suggested Jamie's. Did not disappoint. The bread felt and tasted like it was right out of the oven. The meat was cooked perfectly and piled high to perfection. Highly recommended.

I agreed assuming we'd have to wait hours due to the October Salem craziness. I was wrong. We arrived and were greeted immediately by a very kind host. He explained that there was a 45 minute wait and he'd be happy to add our names to the waitlist. We went for a walk and about 20 minutes later he called and our table was ready. Our server came over immediately and took our drink order. I was thrilled that they had bottled coke as I don't drink alcohol, but it still felt like a treat! We split the Caesar salad to start and it was delicious. We expected a longer wait for the food but it came very quickly. For my entree, I got the Jean Louis sandwich. I don't think I even have words for how good this was. Seriously...I've been thinking about this sandwich ever since and craving it! my mom got the fall vegetable panzanella. She said it was absolutely delicious. You can tell they value the quality of food they put out and put their hearts into every recipe. And the potions are huge. We both had leftovers for the next day. Everything from the atmosphere, service, and food were 10/10. I always love supporting a local business and this is one I cannot wait to go back to.

(They clearly saw me there; we made eye contact and the one guy wasn't even doing anything.) After about 10 to 15 minutes of waiting with no service, we were about to leave when a server finally came to our table. Since they were obviously busy and weren't keeping up with the crowd that night, we tried to order two drinks each so they could save a little of their time and we could relax without worrying about if a server was going to take our order again before the end of the week. The server very sharply said that he was NOT going to give us two drinks at a time, CERTAINLY not with drinks of this high alcohol content. We ordered one drink each, cashed out and bounced. The cocktail I got was fine; I could make a slightly worse version at home at a fraction of the price (or even two at once!). We we were told later by a friendlier Salemite at a bar with a better vibe that there is a Massachusetts state law that prohibits having two drinks at once at a bar. Fair enough. Had our server told us that, unfortunately, he wasn't allowed to give us two drinks at once -- instead of making us feel like idiots/degenerates for daring to ask -- we probably would have dropped a lot of vacation money there that night. Oh well; we had a great time at the other places we went.
