Bay Area Water Heaters

We used this company in July of 2026 and they were great. We had been smelling a slight gas smell…read morein our garage for a number of months. The smell was not consistent. It only occurred when the weather was hot. Basically, only summer afternoons. We had PG&E come out repeatedly and they could not find the source. We spoke with plumbers and other heater repair companies. All of them told us that it was not our heater; that we were wrong about the inconsistency of the smell. That gas leaks are only consistent and would not happen only when it was hot. We were told that we must be wrong. We felt like we were going crazy. Until we called Bay Area Water Heaters and Dave came out (with a whole crew). He took the time to inspect our heater and said yes, this slight gas smell on hot days is something he had heard of. It was likely due to an old valve within the control panel. He walked us through our options but ultimately suggested replacing the entire heater. His team was able to do the job right then and there and at a reasonable rate. It was completed within the hour. And sure enough, no more gas smell in our garage. Dave and his team were amazing and incredibly professional. We will be using this company again.

I had scheduled a service appointment and needed to cancel. I understand that cancellations impact a schedule, so I remained completely calm and polite throughout the conversation and paid their full cancellation fee immediately without hesitation or dispute. Despite complying with their policy right away, the owner became hostile. He lost his temper, raised his voice, and berated me for how much the cancellation hurt his business. A cancellation fee is meant to cover lost time--it is not a license to yell at and lecture paying customers who are speaking respectfully. Handling ordinary business interactions with this level of aggression and emotional volatility is completely unacceptable. I would strongly advise against dealing with an owner who treats customers this way.

After getting a very high quote from a major plumbing chain, we decided to contact Water Heater…read moreMasters. We had an absolutely fantastic experience with Water Heater Masters. Alex sent our technician, Rojo, who helped install a new 40-gallon gas water heater in our indoor utility closet, and he was incredibly diligent, professional, and efficient from start to finish. Installing a tank in an inside closet can be tricky, but Rojo handled the entire job seamlessly in just 2 hours. He replaced everything with high-quality components, including: * New hot and cold water flex lines * A brand new water shut-off valve * A new gas flex line and sediment trap * Fully reworked earthquake straps (to meet California safety codes) * Properly updated T&P line and venting He also took care of the removal and disposal of our heavy 18 yr old tank, leaving the utility closet completely clean. If you want fair pricing, expert specialized service, and a technician who respects your time and home, call Water Heater Masters and ask for Rojo. Highly recommended!

We were replacing a gas water heater with a hybrid electric heat pump water heater. Generally, this…read moretype of heater costs twice as much (price and installation) as a traditional electric water heater, but costs a lot less to run (and therefore you recoup the additional cost in a few years from lower operating costs). I had a very easy experience getting an on-site quote. I received 3 quotes for this job. 2 quotes, including this one, came in around $7100. I went with a third one at around $6700 (which included an additional mixing valve) and am very happy with my decision. Overall price was not a big part of my decision, but brand of water heater was. After doing some research online, the most recommended brands are AO Smith and Rheem (GE). Both higher quotes were for Navien, which has only been making heat pump water heaters for 1 year, but I was told that it is the most reliable brand. I did not understand how this claim could be made, given how short the duration of evaluation for this product. Even the worst appliances usually work for at least a year. So I requested a quote for AO Smith or Rheem, which I did not get. I'm not sure why my brand request was not honored, but it made me question whether I should go with a company that either has communication issues or maybe some type of deal with Navien that I was not informed about. Many water heater installers are preferred installers of certain brands, which means they can get better pricing, etc. I did not want to be a guinea pig for Navien.

We had one of our crawlspace copper water pipes spring a big leak. Thankfully we could hear it…read morespraying from inside the house and I started frantically calling plumbers in a panic. This was a Saturday, and though I shut off the water at the main, I was worried that it being a weekend, I'd either have to go the weekend without water supply to the house or pay some insane emergency service fee. After trying to contact plumbers in our immediate area with no luck (no response or closed), I saw United Plumbing and Water Heaters and how they had hundreds of reviews AND a 5 star rating! This is something I don't normally see in ANY industry and so I sent them a message from YELP and they responded right away! I spoke to the very pleasant woman on the phone and after I told her the basics of my problem (fully expecting her to tell me I would have to wait till Monday or even longer) She put me on a brief hold to check who she had out in the field. After a minute or two she came back and said she had someone who could see us in just an hour! I asked if there was fee for emergency service, or since it was the weekend and she told me no, it's just a normal visit and fee *whew!* :) Mike arrived and did everything right to put me at ease; he was pleasant, very courteous, and when I told him the leak was in the crawlspace (very tight) he had absolutely NO hestitation in opening the floor access, and shimmying under the house to take pictures of the area so he could assess. When he came back up he confirmed a copper length had failed and showed me pics of it as well as the surrounding joints that were severely corroded :( At that point he let me know he could just repair the section no problem, or cut out the area that included quite a few joints and tees that he guaranteed to me would be a problem in the very near future (just like the current one. We agreed that I would think it over for one night, and decide the next morning where he said he would come back early on Sunday with everything he needed either way. The next day he returned in the morning on time and soon after, Alex, his foreman came by as well because I had questions about doing a repipe of at least a majority of the house in either PEX or copper, but I also had many questions about a water softener install, new toilets, hose bib locations etc (lots of things with the plumbing I had always considered doing) He was very knowledgeable, articulate, and he explained things very simply and very thoroughly; Very much seeming to understand that repipe jobs were significant both in time and cost. There was no hard upsell or pressure of any kind, he simply told us what he could do and we could decide in our own time. I appreciated that! While we talked, Mike was working under the house and he finished the repair and tested and all was good! He also took the time while under there to crawl under all the pipes and let me know that a seal under one toilet looked like it was leaking. He asked us on the phone to flush the suspect toilet and then after a few minutes came up and showed us the video of the toilet leaking right when it was flushed, and the (yuck) stuff that was obviously evidence of previous leaking. He said he could replace the wax seal very soon if I wanted to make an appointment since he had to go to the next job. I agreed! We continued to talk to Alex about options with the repipe and after an hour or so Mike called back and said he could come back now and change the seal. He Did and had us flush the toilet several times to triple check there were no signs of leaks. Then he was off to yet another job after Thank you's and goodbyes :) All in all, the work, the conversations, the explanations of options, pros and cons or materials literally everything about the visit(s) was so pleasant and almost relaxing :) They are not the least expensive service, but are NOT the most expensive by far! and I will always choose quality over "a deal" I would even go so far as to categorize United Plumbing as that most rare of combinations; High quality AND a deal! I tend to stick with people who treat me well, wealready have a forever, go to electrician, now with United Plumbing and Water Heater I have a forever go-to plumbing service! Thank you! David Obando

He arrived on time, listened carefully to my preferences, and provided an estimate the same day. The estimate outlined the scope of work well, but I wanted all of the installation details clearly documented in the contract, such as the exact heat pump model and where the drain lines would terminate. So I sent about ten follow-up questions. Rochel from the office coordinated the responses and sent me a very detailed email. Every question was answered clearly, and none were skipped. Victor arrived on time for the installation, and Alex joined him later. They both listened carefully to my preferences, especially regarding how I wanted the drain lines routed. They were able to accommodate my requests while still meeting code requirements. I was especially impressed with Victor's plumbing work. The piping, valves, expansion tank, and mixing valve were all installed very neatly and professionally. Victor also came back on the inspection day. Everything went smoothly, and the installation passed inspection without any issues. Overall, I was very happy with the communication, professionalism, and quality of the work.

Look no further, this is the place you should call!…read more I can not say enough kind things about this company! I called dealing with an urgent plumbing matter and was frankly quite stressed and upset due to other life factors as well... from the moment I called they were incredible. Professional, Kind, Patient, Helpful and Supportive. They were able to get someone out to me that day. I LOVED that I received a text with a picture of the technician, a short bio and a tracking link for their arrival. Incredible service. They know how to build trust. My job required a return the next day. Day one I was Giovanni, amazing! Truly an incredibly kind, understanding and calming force when I was so stressed. He was understanding, warm hearted and treated me like a human being, not just a customer or "job". Day 2 was Jesus, wow two amazing folks... I didnt think it was possible to get that lucky! Jesus was incredibly respectful, kind and personable. He was accountable, experienced and great with communicating throughout the service. Im so grateful for them both. Cheers to this company and crew... you have a forever customer and am so grateful for each of you, I absolutely recommend their service.
