We have had dollar plumbing come to our house for several things during the past years. Unfortunately, this time we really needed their help. Our 60 year old sewage line to the street was so plugged up it needed to be replaced. Al and his crew came out, and were very diligent. First they attempted to snake the line for us, but it was useless. The roots had made a impassable plug. They replaced the line with a trenchless process. The new line they put in cannot be penetrated by roots. They fulfilled all promises with regards to timing and getting everything cleaned up. With all the work they had to do digging 2, 6 foot deep holes, and then filling them in along with everything else. We certainly got our moneys worth. My boyfriend and I noticed a leak coming from the piping when starting the washing machine in the garage. I called Dollar Plumbing Friday afternoon and was advised that a technician would be available to come out the very next day on Saturday between 9-11am. Kitchen sink was backed up and none of the "normal" remedies were working. I followed advice of my fellow Yelpers and called Dollar Plumbing. I left a message and had a return call within 30 minutes (on a Saturday!) and an offer to come out within the hour. I had to run an errand so asked about afternoon and was given a window from 2-3 pm. Al drove up a few minutes early and then came to the door promptly at 2 pm. He assessed the situation, gave me an estimate which I agreed to, and then took care of the clog with his roto machine in an hour's time. My garbage disposal also needs replacement but will wait for another day for that. I had an issue with the washing machine discharge pipe at our rental home. I called a plumber and although they had great Yelp ratings, the service was very opposite of the ratings and the fee was on the high side. I was initially really blown away by the fast service and willingness of the owner to come at odd hours to help fix a sever plumbing issue I had, and originally wrote a beaming review after the service. But after calling him to fix a few other things later on, one thing that really turned me away was after only a couple days of getting my garbage disposal fixed, it jammed again so I called to see if he could come back in to fix the issue since it didn't seem to be resolved. Because I remember it being a pretty quick fix the first time, I asked him if he could tell me what he did so he didn't need to make the trip out to fix something so simple. He then told me that I needed as "special plumbers key" in order to fix the disposal. And because it was fixed when he left and this was a "new" issue, I would be charged a fee. Later I learned that this "special plumbers key" was just an Allen wrench that I could have used to unjam the disposal from the bottom. It was pretty disappointing that the owner would rather make a quick buck, rather than being a smart businessman by being honest and have a long-term returning customer. read more
