My experience is over the course of 2 days... My first visit didnt last long because my son was almost immediately referred to a specialist because he wouldn't even let them look in his mouth (completely understandable). The second day my daughter had an appt at 9am. I was scheduled for work at 10:30 so initially I asked my mom to switch me spots so she wouldn't miss her appt but as life happens, her car broke down a couple days ago and wasnt set to be repaired until today. After waiting almost 25 minutes past appt time (still haven't been called in) I decided to ask to reschedule because I couldn't afford to be late. I thought I was being courteous because they hadn't even called us into a room yet. The lady I talked to first seemed very understanding. The dr and other assistant however were very rude. He questioned my reasoning for making an appt in the morning if I'm just going to cancel which I tried explaining the situation. He walked away. He said to make me another appt but his assistant was repeatedly telling the lady not to make me an appt. I decided I would no longer be returning to this office and cancelled all upcoming appts that were made for my other children. There is never any reason to be rude and obnoxious especially with unforeseen circumstances. This place is in desperate need of some kind of service training! I was a patient here for several years. The only reason is convenience. I never liked his gruff behavior or rudeness to the staff. The things he would say to the hygenists, and the way he said it, would make me cringe. Anyway, he wore out my last nerve. I told him I did not want a deep cleaning. He kept reordering it. I told him I did my own research and didn't want it. He replied "oh, something you read on the internet, wikipedia", implying I couldn't possibly be capable of doing any real research. He says to me "you "might" have some tartar under the gum line and I want to get it". Translation: you automatically qualify for this procedure and you are going to get it no matter what. In other words, so he could profit from it. "Might have" is not a good enough reason for me anyway. I've never before had a professional who refused to take "No" for an answer. Greedy. (Those Porsche payments, I reckon.) He said I was the only Denti-Cashcow patient who didn't get it done. Tough, was my thinking. My last visit I almost bolted from the chair after that wikipedia comment. When his girl called to schedule the deep cleaning, yet again, I told her I wasn't coming back and why. Anyway, you have been warned. There are a dozen dentists who take denti-cal in Redlands. I suggest you keep looking. read more

Don't do it! He's a mean old goat and doesn't care about anything but his bank account. He used a drill to clean my teeth! A drill! I have never seen this practice done before. My teeth felt like they had been through the ringer. Also he treated his assistant horribly. He's just a mean old codger and his practices, and his equipment are antiquated. Don't do it he's a quack! The majority of reviews speak for themselves. I may add that I have been seeing a fine dentist and I showed him this reply. He was appalled at this antiquated practice. He may as well have taken a chisel to my teeth. ( not my words). Again I emphasize his horrible treatment of the entire staff as well as his victims. Well I called today and got me in immediately.he made me feel very comfortable, the atmosphere is great and all the lovely young ladies that work there are just lovely. I hadn't been to a dentist in 6 years due to being practically tortured having all 4 wisdom teeth removed and 3 without anesthesia but I called him and I knew by the demeanor of his voice over the phone that this was my guy! I will continue to go and he's going to make my smile perfect before the next Grammy awards . He knows what's up and is fast! Had a dental emergency Friday night and they were open on Saturday. When I called and explained my situation they said no problem come on in and we're able to squeeze me in in between scheduled appointments. The staff were the best and the dentist took care of me in a jiffy. They really did do me a real service by taking me in on such short notice. Thank you for everything!!! a loose bridge brought me to this office. instead of correcting that, it was removed and replaced with a denture for two of the teeth and a permanent one that didn't match up with the denture. not only am i embarrassed to even smile, i am getting inflammation on my tongue from the sharp edge of the cemented tooth that is crooked. i left that dentist office in worse condition than when i went in. if you're on medicare expect a low level of respect and disregard. i went in with a three tooth bridge and now am missing two teeth and have one they put in that's a different shade and that constantly irritates my mouth. btw, caley is a shadow figure since i never once saw him during my two visits. avoid this dentist office. read more

I have had multiple bad experiences with this dentist. A couple years ago he hit a nerve while giving me a shot which left half my lip and part of my cheek numb for two weeks. I reluctantly returned for a root canal due to not being able to find another dentist in time. He was rude when I explained my anxiety about the procedure. Although it was quick it was not done well and I was not advised as to what the next step in the whole process was (crown). I wasn't even able to floss he filled the space between to two teeth with a small space near the gm where food gets stuck. I now have to get the tooth extracted. I would NOT recommend Caley to anyone for any reason. SAVE YOURSELF! read more

Dr Caley has always been great with my son. He really fixed my sons teeth and my son feels real comfortable with him. He is straight to the point so he can get the job done and that's what I like. I've been going to this dentist for 20 years. At one point, he even asked me out to coffee. I hadn't had dental care for awhile due to no insurance but he did some serious dental work on me before I lost my insurance. Recently I went back to him to so he could fix the mess he left in my mouth from before. He got approved for me to get a root canal. At my appointment he did half the job. When I was to go back, nurse failed to call in pre-meds and when confronted about their lack of professionalism, he got on the phone and told me not to come back. Jim Caley is a dentist who puts patient care and comfort at the absolute top of his priority list. I've been his patient for many years and dread the day when I move and have to find a new dentist, or, God-forbid, Dr. Caley retires. If I move, I might just schedule trips to Redlands to keep dentist appointments! Dr. Caley helped me on very short notice when half of a tooth broke off one day. He found time for me that day, placed a temporary cap on the tooth, and had a permanent cap in place within days. He is always welcoming, easy-going, professional and friendly. No baloney with this guy - no trying to sell you braces that you don't need. read more

Dr Caley and his staff are the rudest people I have ever come in contact with in the medical profession in my entire life and I went to school for dental assisting. I was also a dental assistant for many years. every single time I have left his office or a phone call with them I have left in complete tears full-blown anxiety and just plain upset. If you are a denti cal patient don't even bother going to him because as he puts it "you are just a waste of time to him." yes, I have been late for appointments. for things like, my grandma passing away or my child being sick or me having the flu. things do happen in life but I'll tell you right now now Dr Caley does not understand that and he will lecture you and he will tell you what a waste of time you are for him because you are a medical patient and then he will charge you $80 on top of it because you didn't give them 24 hour notice. 24 hours is a ridiculous allotted time and he does it on purpose. like I said I was an assistant and I've never met a dentist who says you have to give them 24 hours notice, a lot can happen in 24 hours but I assure you , Dr Caley does not understand this. I went in Wednesday this week with a horrible tooth in pain and because I didn't want to pull it right away when he went in my mouth to do so, (without even Consulting with me first to tell me what the plan was) he walked away from me and didn't tell me anything. then when I got a quote because my parents are going to pay cash, the girl at the front (the office manager) who's just as equally rude, changed the pricing twice then Dr Caley called her in the back she came back out and pulled out a PPO Insurance book and gave me a quote for $4,000 for just a bridge. I assure you this place is ridiculous and he does not have your best interest in mind whatsoever, all he cares about is his bank account and I truly believe, Dr Caley if you're reading this... as I see you do and then you write lies on people's posts. if you don't like Medi-Cal patients don't accept them it's that simple. I assure you don't have to take my review into consideration, the second you walk in you will see exactly what I'm talking about. this place is ridiculous he does not want to work on your teeth unless you are going to pay him cash and then he's going to give you a ridiculous amount to pay. Because I had a rift with him and his office staff before, where they yelled at me on the phone because my Grandma had passed away and I missed my appointment and the girls were laughing at me on the phone as if I was lying, Dr Caley got on the phone and said he was going to charge me $80 and he doesn't care why I was missing my appointment and "this is why he hates dealing with medical patients," I went to another dentist and I had three crowns done which my parents paid cash for. when I went and saw him this Wednesday he realized the crowns after I told him about them and he started picking at them telling me that they were horrible work and I should have gone to him and why would I do that. My teeth are now in so much pain he did nothing for me didn't even prescribed me an antibiotic and I have a full-blown infection going on. I know my teeth are my responsibility, but dentists are there to help you. You don't walk into a doctor's office with cancer and they tell you this is how I think you should handle it and if you don't want to do what I think than Im not going to help you, that's Dr Caley for you 100% but again, like I said, if you don't believe me go check it out yourself. Dr Caley as a joke so is his office manager can't say much about the other staff because they're constantly changing I'm sure because of the way he treats them so poorly. I worked for a dentist and I know how you're supposed to be treated, he talks down to them, he yells at them in front of the patient which I feel is why they are so rude to the patient as well. Fantastic dentist. Dr. Caley and his staff are wonderful. And he is FAST... I have dental phobia and originally came here because general anesthesia was an option. But after my deep cleaning was done so quickly and carefully, I opted to just brave it. I was shocked by how quickly it was all taken care of. And how pretty my teeth are turning out. I gave this office too many chances. Dr. Caley is super grouchy 90% of the time and is super short tempered, ESPECIALLY with children. He told me that my 2 year old daughter was extremely uncooperative and needed to be sedated even though she sat on my lap and didn't cry and even let the tech brush her teeth. She just didn't want to open her mouth for some old guy who makes no effort to make a patient feel comfortable or welcome. On another note, I was told my referral for a deep cleaning was being sent out in December 2017 and it would be 30 days for a response. I have called 3 times in regards to this issue alone and was told they would follow up and call back, never happened. I have also been seen 2 times in between then without it being resolved. It is now may 2018 and they cal me to schedule a regular cleaning so i inform them again that I am waiting on my deep cleaning referral. They put me on hold and call the insurance company who then tells them it was denied in January due to them sending old X-rays. I am now 7 months pregnant and cannot get my deep cleaning like I was expecting due to their lack of knowledge on how the system works and not following through with patient care. Sarai I am assuming is the office manager since I all the other girls act confused and say they need to ask her for help. She is just as rude as dr. Caley and does not know how to take responsibility for their mistakes or apologize to patients. All of these complaints are outside of the ones I can go on and on about in regards to the "treatment" my mom has received there. Go ahead Dr. Caley, read this and try to pretend I have the wrong office like you did on all the other reviews. You're a joke at best. read more

My experience with this dentist was horrible. He is extremely rude and does poor work! He did a 5 minute filling in one of my teeth. In his haste to finish quickly, he nicked the tooth next to the tooth he was working on and neglected to fix it. To make matters worse he did not even fix the tooth he was working on correctly. My new dentist said there is decay below the filling he just put in. His assistant seems confused and messes up, which he yells at her for. Over all I had an extremely bad experience and will never go back ever!! Spare yourself the pain and torture!!!! read more

Went to Caley because he was supposed to be good for patients with anxiety...that's me. From start to finish...a nightmare. When I called to make an initial appointment, the person didn't seem terribly interested in my anxiety concerns, put me on hold twice, quickly gave me an appointment and the call was over. When I arrived for my appointment, no one was at the desk. An assistant/hygienist checked me in and gave me paperwork. When I was done she took me to the dental room, apologized for the delay because she was doing double-duty (dental work and receptionist) She took x-rays, then immediately started in brushing my teeth...she never asked why I was there or if I had any problems and proceeded to try to brush the molar that was the reason I was there...when she hit it with the brush I about jumped out of the chair in pain. She stopped and got Caley. When he came into the room he stopped behind me, not introducing himself or asking what was up...guess he was looking at my file. He sat down and showed me the x-rays saying I had issues (which I knew) but he couldn't tell what the problem was with the molar I told him I was having trouble with. He asked the assistant about my insurance and confused my $1750 plan with $17500 and said to her, "Really, that much"...then got up and looked at my file (reviews here speak of him being money conscious, I guess so...he was more interested in that than me). When he sat back down he grabbed something that looked like a drill (it was electric and whirring) and said he was going to see what he could see and try to figure out what was wrong. I asked if he was going to numb me and he said, "No." I said, "I think we need to talk." I then discussed my anxiety issues and requested he be attentive to that. So he grabbed a pick after digging around in a drawer (I watched, I'm not even sure if it was sterile) and started digging around my mouth and picking at my teeth all over, explaining all the work I would need. I mentioned being put to sleep and he asked the assistant to get me a brochure and told me it was $1300 an hour, and that was just for the anesthesiologist. He then turned his pick around and started pounding the back, blunt end around my molar saying he was trying to find out where the issue was...guess the problem wasn't to be found by pounding. He basically gave up then and wanted to write me a prescription. At that point, I decided this guy was not a good fit for me, or anyone with dental anxiety. I told him I didn't think we were a good fit...he was offended, but I just said he should write it off to my paranoia and left. That day I got a referral to a 'real' anxiety aware dentist and made an appointment. The receptionist there called me back several times because she was being treated rudely by Caley's office, when she requested my x-rays...they even suggested I wasn't a patient. Upon going to my new dentist today, who is wonderful, I discovered there were still issues with getting my x-rays, despite having signed forms requesting their release. I got a call from Caley's office requesting I call because they "urgently" needed to talk to me, though didn't say why. I called, the person who answered had no clue what the issue was and wanted me to call back...after asking me if I was even a patient...shessh. I finally called Delta Dental, explained my situation and a supervisor agreed to call Caley's office. After the call the Delta supervisor was obviously annoyed and said that Caley had gotten on the phone with her saying he wasn't refusing to provide the x-rays (I never said he was refusing, just that his office was not making the transfer easy or even professional) but needed money to make duplicates and that I needed to call to make arrangements. Instead, I'll pay for new x-rays because I don't have any desire to interact with this office ever again. I will be filing a grievance with Delta, though (something Delta said was my real recourse to alerting Delta to such an unprofessional dentist). To finish, I've never written a Yelp review before, but created an account solely for the purpose of writing this as a warning to other folks, like me, who have had to deal with dentists like Caley my whole life. His office was understaffed, completely ignored me as a person, did the kinds of things that gave me anxiety in the first place, and extended their unprofessional and adversarial stance to the folks at my new dentist who are innocent bystanders of my horrible experience with Caley and should have been treated with respect and professional courtesy, but were not. I walked out of Caley's office a nervous mess, for good reason - and REALLY angry that he would present himself as someone who works with anxious patients. Avoid this guy and force him into retirement before he does any more damage to people who are uneasy with dentists, yet come to them in need and wanting help, but get indifference and a lack of respect in return. read more

Worst experience with a dentist EVER! It was in 2014 and I kept meaning to write a review just never did. He was rude, he laughed in my face when I asked a question and another time he didn't even acknowledge my question he just walked away! I had been going to the dentist every year my entire life and always had great experiences until Dr. Caley. He said I had a surface cavity which I never noticed but I thought ok well its small he can fix it easily .... OMG he snuck up on me with the long needle to give me a FULL BLOCK for a minuscule surface cavity and I didn't even get to spit out the words "please don't give me a shot with epi in it" b/c it was done before I could say anything and my entire face stayed numb the entire night! I had to sit in my car for an hour before starting it after leaving just to calm down. Seriously people he's a grumpy old man and my feeling after leaving was that he hates or is intimidated by women! Don't go to him if you want a pleasant dental experience! read more
