I had high hopes but was really disappointed. The taste just was not there. They were sweet but had no noticeable fruit or floral or fragrant notes that a lot of other whites/sweet wines have. We ended up having to chug most of them just to get rid of em.... The best one was the sugar sweet wine and the rest were not good. There was no flavor, no complexity. We went to ten or more wineries this weekend and this one was agreed to be the worst in terms of flavor amongst my group. I think ppl assume that sweet wine drinker would like this place because they specialize in it, but no I would not recommend this place for my light sweet wine drinkers. Go get the tour de blanc at Cline Cellars in Sonoma instead, those are noticeably more fragrant, better tasting, tasting was only $10 and gets waived with bottle purchase, and bottles are at great prices (~$20). I think the greatest appeal of this place is the music and atmosphere, which we did not get on the Saturday afternoon that we went, unfortunate. I liked the colorful decor and layout. I am an avid whites and sweet wine drinker so I was recommended to go to Jam by other tasting room hosts we went to that day. We had the 2 for 1 deal on the $30 tasting menu that included the toast sparkling, candy dry rose, butter chardonnay, something else, and ended with the sugar sweet wine. Good thing we got the second tasting for free, but it bit us in the ass when we had to chug a bunch of wine we didn't like. However, I do like that the owners incorporate sweet and buttery flavors to their wines, something that would usually get a lot of hate from someliers, respect. read more

JaM Cellars! This place was very hip and a little louder for a wine tasting establishment. However, if you are into loud music and at night a live band then this is your spot! The wine is primarily of the white or rosé variation and easy to drink. If you've ever been to the supermarket and spotted a wine with the words "Butter" on them, this is the winery that created those. I believe only a few reds for tasting so don't come if you are a heavy red drinker, but pleasant for whites! Love the atmosphere and the inside is very themed by music. Loved it! read more

I'm very disheartened to write this review. I love Butter Chardonnay and it's my husband favorite Chardonnay so we were very excited to try this place out. This is an awesome place with cool music but we received horrible service. I was staying at the Beazley Inn Bed and Breakfast so they gave us two for one tasting coupon to use. The guy said these are only good till 7pm. So that's fine even though our hotel said their wasn't a time limit. We bought a bottle of Chardonnay and enjoyed it at a self seating booth. The guy comes up to us and asked us do we mind sharing our booth. We replied we don't mind sharing. So he comes back to ask if we're gonna move to one side. We said we don't mind sharing but if the people can sit on the inside because we wanted to talk to each other and see the band. He rolled his eyes and walked away. We felt so unwanted there. We hurried up and drank our wine bottle. Then he looks at us through the window as we left. It was just so weird that he was more concerned about us moving to one side of the booth rather than trying to offer us some more wine to buy. other booths had only two people sitting there, he didn't ask them to move. why did he insist on asking us. I would give the tasting we had here a couple months ago 4/5 stars *based* on the fact that we got the tasting for half off with our Priority Wine Pass. I was happy that they were willing to let us share one half-off tasting even though the wine pass deal said "2 for 1" - and our server was certainly friendly. I would have been a lot less happy if we'd paid $25 instead of $12.50 for the tasting, though. The wines we tried included a pretty good chardonnay, a pretty good cab, a fairly mediocre rose (in my opinion - it was kinda flabby), a pretty good sparkling white blend, and one very delicious dessert moscato. For the most part I didn't think the wines were quite worth the price they were being sold for (especially since I've seen their chardonnay at Grocery Outlet!), but if you like dessert wines, the moscato was a steal at $20 for the bottle, so we bought a bottle of that one. read more

Wow! Friday night we stumbled upon Jam Cellars and I am so grateful! We had the opportunity to see a talented singer last night and so loved the relaxed, inviting environment we decided to come back tonight! My friends and I are celebrating my birthday and we're treated like valued friends when we arrived though we have only been there once. Chris Pierce performed tonight and truly blew me away with his vocals, passion and song writing. After experiencing his music, I am not surprised he is singing at BottleRock this year!! Our server Matt was welcoming, attentive and a lot of fun! The entire experience reminds me of going to the BlueBird in Nashville. We came here almost every night that we were in Napa. It started off as a Groupon, but we kept coming back because of the relaxed ambiance and the wines. Everything is so reasonably priced and the location was right in the heart of downtown Napa and walking distance from where we were staying -- bonus! They actually have a recording studio right inside the tasting room. How cool is that? Live performances are a couple nights a week, and Rolling Stone covers line the walls. They are also open later than most wineries which close at around 5pm. This place stays open until around 9pm, depending on how busy they are. They also have an agreement with the Greek restaurant next door, Tarla. They have a connecting hallway so they'll deliver food from there over to your table at the tasting room. The Groupon was for two tastings (normally $15 for three house wines) and a bottle from the three that you tasted (price varies) for a total cost of $35. Some wineries cost more than that for a single tasting! Glasses of wine were in the typical $8-14 range. They had roughly 10 different kinds of wine available. The bartenders were very friendly in a laid-back way. They are the type of people you could honestly see yourself hanging out with on another night. They told us that this was the owners John and Michelle's (i.e JaM) response to the recession in terms of wines. They wanted to make wines that were budget friendly but still high quality in true Napa fashion. John Anthony's is just a few doors down if you are looking for the stuffy formal experience. Personally, JAM was exactly what we wanted after visiting chateaus and castles all day. The Toast Sparkling NV was a standout for me personally. We also really liked the Weather (Russian River Valley) Pinot Noir that isn't made by JaM but is served there in the tastings. The couches and chairs here were really comfortable and they also had booth seating available. Nice way to just sit back and drink Napa and surrounding regional wines. read more

This is a fun, youthful wine tasting spot in downtown Napa with a definite rock and roll vibe. I have to say, though, the wine was just OK - the red was sort of one-note ripe and jammy, while the rose was basically a straightforward refreshing glass. Nothing bad, just didn't stand out. However, service is nice and friendly and the vibe is very comfortable and fairly different than basically every other winery around. Worth a stop for a change of pace. read more

Loved this tasting room!!! Came on a Sunday right as it opened so it was quite and just two other groups there at the time. There was three of us so we got three different tastings the California, Napa and Devereux flights. All of them were wonderful. We happened to be there on the day that the Chard Magnum was being released so I just had to get one! Very nice tasting room attendant which I am bummed that I can't recall his name because he was fantastic. Very good wines, great service and a really comfortable tasting room. I will go back and I've been recommending it to my friends. Once I got home, I read up on the history of the company and kearned that the couple went to high school in Napa and high school sweethearts. How sweet is that? read more

Was walking downtown Napa and decided to stop by. Jam Cellars ya a really cool chill vibe. We sat and enjoyed wine by the glass for a couple of hours. Our bartender was extremely informative he gave us several tips for the rest of our stay in Napa from restaurants to visit and wineries to visit.
