One beef taco no tomatoes with sour cream. Side of nachos and hot cheese.
    Kathleen D.

I was walking toward the pita eatery for a salad when Jalepeno's display sidetracked me. How can anyone resist such pretty mall-food-court tacos? I queued and had enough of a wait time to determine what I wanted: - Single beef taco, no tomatoes, hard shell - Nachos with hot cheese - Quesadilla with chicken - plain, not spicy or fajita - Strawberry lemonade, small I figured it'd be enough for two meals. In theory, it was enough for two meals. Unfortunately, I ate it all almost immediately. I'm not kidding -- their food is exceptionally good for a food court stall. Friendly, efficient service from the teens working, too! One change I'd make in the future: Order the quesadilla with fajita chicken. Plain chicken is, as you can expect, a bit too plain. I don't know how I've missed this place in the past, but it's certainly a healthier alternative to Taco Bell and won't break the bank. All of the above set me back $13 and change.

We were promptly seated to our table. We were greeted by Salina, who was our waitress and she asked us if we were ready to order drinks or an appetizer. In addition to cold water in 1 L bottles on the table they offer aqua Fresca, which is various flavored water with fresh cut fruit in it and also many different flavored smoothies. The aqua Fresca and the smoothies are delicious We started out with chips and guacamole which was excellent! The entrées we ordered were sizzling hot plate of chicken Fajitas, Chicken burrito, Vegetable burrito, a Chimichanga, a Mexican pizza that had refried beans spread over the base with fresh cut vegetables on top and sour cream. My granddaughter just got nachos with cheese on them. My grandson got chicken fingers with fries. Everybody was happy with their meal. The ambience was light and colorful to be accompanied by joyful Mexican music. Looking forward to going back and trying something I've never had before.

The food was still good but even before a server arrived to wait on me, I noticed that chips and salsa were $10. TEN FRIGGIN DOLLARS for something that 99% of Mexican/ American restaurants offer for free. yes, I know the cost of doing business in a restaurant has gone up but a small bowl of chips and salsa is an expectation. you can always charge for extras. Like many restaurants, costs have increased which means the price of food for consumers has gone up. Sticker shock struck me up. and down the menu. I remembered great soups so I ordered the Tortilla Soup. For $8 I was served a bowl of broth with some cheese and avocado with tortilla chip strips. Tasty? Yes but $8 definitely not (No protein, no veggies ... broth.). Been hungry for gorditas... and I was not disappointed with my entree, which was served with two small ramekins of salsa (red and green). I enjoyed the salsa verde so I asked if I could have a little more never expecting that the extra salsa verde would be an up charge on my bill. I don't think I have ever been charged for extra hot sauce ever! They were busy ... Cinco de Mayo... service was good ... no music but I was outside watching the cars drive by. Next time I am hungering for Mexican I will just drive by because there are many other options that still put out a basket of chips and salsa and don't charge for extra hot sauce Oh ... the SEVEN DOLLAR Horchata offered a few good sips but I noticed that the glass had a very watery appearance after only a quarter of the drink was consumed and it tasted it too ... $7.

The portion size was solid too -- definitely filling without feeling overdone. But the real star? The green sauce. Absolutely incredible. Staff provided a warm welcome handing out a classic menu of those traditional Mex-American dishes with a real "Mexican" feel to the taco choices. The basket of rainbow colored corn chips was accompanied by a really tasty salsa verde. Was disappointed to learn that the "weekend only" tamales were not available because today is a weekend day on my calendar. Anyhow back to the awesome dance music that has my body swaying as my eyes search the walls enjoying each new discovery. Someone clearly thought out the decor to ensure diners were happy. The Tortilla Soup was a nice start although it could have been a bit warmer. Full of goodies including cheese (That had not melted but I think I liked the cheese pieces.) and pieces of avocado floating throughout with a subtle comforting flavored broth This is a soup everyone will enjoy! Ah the music ...tapping my toes and smiling ... music enhanced dining experience! Ok, so I wimped out on the main course ...no tripe nor tongue just a solid enchilada pairing with both their red and green sauces. Side dish of beans was appreciatively good. The sliced radishes a nice touch but would have loved them pickled and more plentiful. My only disappointment was the 99 cent upcharge for the "salsa/"hot sauce. Overall a good meal with a caring server even though there was a slight language barrier. Leaving full and happy dancing to the music. The menu is good, with plenty of options, but we were a little disappointed as the on site menu is very different from the online menu, and we were SUPER excited to try some of the desserts we saw, NONE of which were available anymore. Also, the prices were vastly different as well; the kids quesadilla and fries was a more than reasonable $5 online, but much, much less of a deal at $10 in person. Service was fine, and we didn't have any issues. Our waitress spoke spanish completely with The Misses, so I'm not even sure if they DO speak English here. I got the al pastor tacos, which were fine, and The Misses got chicken tacos, which she said were "a little dry." She finally asked for a side of sour cream to help them go down. The little ones quesadilla and fries was fine, and actually had some good sized chicken chunks, so that wasn't bad. We used to be in this area every Wednesday, and would have definitely gone back, but now that we're not, I'm not sure that we'll make the trip back for it. If you're local, it's certainly not a bad meal.

However, the portions were very limited in comparison to the price. I think they are getting a little greedy with pricing and portions. One person in my party ordered the mixed fajitas and it's was more than $20 for about a 6oz a chopped meats with vegetables, a hand full of rice and half a cup of refried beans. The person in my party that received the food looked at it, look up at me and said "really". Another person said "isn't that more than $20?". The person that ordered it cringed and apologized for ordering since we were paying. Another person ordered a burrito and it came all by itself on a plate. The put nothing to even make it look good. Another order was tacos and the meat was not even hot. Soft drinks came to $8 for the large and $6 for the small. Place hadn't been bad before reason why we decided to go this time, but I felt like I got robbed. Tab came to $100, when in other places that serve high quality food would charge $80 or less for the same things we ordered. The place looks nice though and the service was good. I just think those prices need to be checked or the portions need to be larger. I have been to the Mariachi Loco in Hammonton and with this kind of tab I would have fed an extra person or two.
