I vascilated between 3 and 4 stars, so I'll instead provide a breakdown: Menu: 5 stars. The menus are easy to read, detailed, and organized. The menus aren't your standard laminated menus. They have a thick, very pretty, sturdy cover. They provide the prices for different meat options. I appreciate that many menu items can be or are gluten free. Ambience: 5 stars. I am a total sucker for supporting small, privately owned businesses! Bonus points for being immigrant/POC/Black-owned business! The restaurant was small but still with a good amount of wiggle room for dining in. Everything was clean and somewhat modern for what was described to me as "a hole in the wall" (in a good way), as I was expecting it to be a little dated and dingy. It wasn't. It was bright, cool, and airy. Service: 3-stars. service was mid. Our server didn't seem overly-excited to be there. He communicated well, but with very little friendliness or enthusiasm. I'd say, at best, his demeanor was neutral, and I can live with that, considering I've encountered a lot of times where people in the service industry act like they don't appreciate your business and are doing you a favor just by taking your order, smh. Food: 3.5 stars. Presentation was beautiful! Very well-done! Unfortunately, I found my tres moles enchiladas lacking that "pow" in taste that I love about mole. I also love my enchiladas drowned in mole sauce, especially eating with chicken breast, which can be a very mild/bland and dry meat. The chicken itself wasn't necessarily dry, but because it was chicken breast, and the feel of the dish was on the dry side. That being said, my fellow diners LOVED their dishes and said they'd come back again! Unfortunately, they don't provide reviews on Yelp, so I invite you to take my review as a grain of salt and try this restaurant out for yourself.

Located on the main strip on Haddon Ave, we wound up here quite by accident. When we walked in, and it was funeral parlor empty. The inside is nice, spacious and super clean, but zero customers had us feeling "uh oh." But our server came around the corner and ushered us into an adjoining room, equally as nice, that had a few other patrons dining. Fears alleviated, we sat down and got to ordering. The menu is great, with something from everyone. We got the birria burrito for me, lobster tacos for the Misses, mac and cheese for the Little One, and a side of Sweet Plantains for everyone. FIRST, god lord almighty....them sweet plantains are MAGICAL! They taste like French Toast. OMG......SOOO good. The rest of the food had an extremely high bar to live up to, and it did. Everything was fast, fresh and delicious. Even the price was tolerable. Our server was extremely nice, though I wish he would have written stuff down, as we had to remind him a couple of times about our requests. No biggie. We will, 100% be back, and if it's anything like last time, I have a feeling Paloma will be moving onto the 5-Star list quickly.

It pains me to say this, but ever since the change in ownership - this place has sunk like a lead…read moreballoon I was toying with giving them only a single star, but am giving them 2 because the servers there are incredible and none of this is their fault. Nope the trouble it all comes down from the top. The food has gotten bland and the portions have gotten ridiculously small. How small? Here are some examples - I used to order the chile rellenos: * Old owners - 2 stuffed chile peppers served with rice. * New owners - 1 stuffed chile pepper served with rice for about 3 dollars more. I used to order tamales: * Old owners - 3 tamales * New owners - 2 tamales for two dollars more. As a bonus kick in the pants - I was charged $5 for a side of extra queso fresco. I had to order this because of the minimal amount they now put on it. I was literally in shock. I could see 2 bucks, even 3, hell 4 is pushing it, but 5 dollars? Nope. The final straw came for me when I order 3 beef tacos and they came on tortillas that were insanely small. I'm talking 2 bites and gone. I asked the server, did they change tortilla styles, and she honestly didn't know. Also they're now 3 bucks more than they used for to be. The worst thing a place can do is charge more money for less food that by comparison is substandard to how it used to be. On top of that their kitchen's sheer inability to get even the simplest requests right, coupled with finding actual steel wool fragments in my taco meat the last time I ordered... sigh. I'm at a loss. Thankfully the previous owners opened up a New Mexican restaurant only 5 more minutes in driving distance from me and it was like going home again. Sorry Jalapeños, but we are never coming back again.
