I really wanted to like this place based on an extremely high recommendation. Unfortunately, the food and service didn't quite meet the expecations it was hyped up to be. I vascilated between 3 and 4 stars, so I'll instead provide a breakdown: Menu: 5 stars. The menus are easy to read, detailed, and organized. The menus aren't your standard laminated menus. They have a thick, very pretty, sturdy cover. They provide the prices for different meat options. I appreciate that many menu items can be or are gluten free. Ambience: 5 stars. I am a total sucker for supporting small, privately owned businesses! Bonus points for being immigrant/POC/Black-owned business! The restaurant was small but still with a good amount of wiggle room for dining in. Everything was clean and somewhat modern for what was described to me as "a hole in the wall" (in a good way), as I was expecting it to be a little dated and dingy. It wasn't. It was bright, cool, and airy. Service: 3-stars. service was mid. Our server didn't seem overly-excited to be there. He communicated well, but with very little friendliness or enthusiasm. I'd say, at best, his demeanor was neutral, and I can live with that, considering I've encountered a lot of times where people in the service industry act like they don't appreciate your business and are doing you a favor just by taking your order, smh. Food: 3.5 stars. Presentation was beautiful! Very well-done! Unfortunately, I found my tres moles enchiladas lacking that "pow" in taste that I love about mole. I also love my enchiladas drowned in mole sauce, especially eating with chicken breast, which can be a very mild/bland and dry meat. The chicken itself wasn't necessarily dry, but because it was chicken breast, and the feel of the dish was on the dry side. That being said, my fellow diners LOVED their dishes and said they'd come back again! Authentic is the word use to describe Oasis food. Amazing authentic Mexican that warms your taste buds up every time you eat it. Oasis offers dine in and carry out options. I have only carried out their food and it was still fresh when I brought it home. I ordered their nachos with chorizo and their steak tacos. The nachos were incredible! They were loaded with meat, cheese, veggies, and their chips were super crispy. The steak tacos were amazing as well. I ordered them with just cilantro, onion, and lime. Every bite made me want more and more of them. When you order their tacos, you get 2 per order with your choice of flour or corn tortilla and American or Mexican style. I went to Oasis with a few cousins to celebrate one of them. We did have reservations but they allow walk-ins as well. It wasn't too busy when we were there (a Thursday night around 5ish). We pretty much had the place to ourselves that evening. You can order take-out or delivery if you don't want to dine-in but still want to eat good food. This is a BYOB restaurant so we brought our own Margarita but I believe they have juices you can order if you decide to bring rum/tequila. We ordered Chips & Guac & Flautas for an appetizer. Both very delicious. Chips/Guac was enough for the 4 of us and we had extra to add to our main entree later on. Flautas had chicken and were very good & crunchy on the outside. For the main plate, I decided to try their burrito (recommended by one of the primas). I asked if they can do it with both chorizo and shrimp, which they did for a few an extra fee & glad I ordered it, it did not disappoint. Unlike some of the other reviews we read, our food was flavorful and delicious. We appreciated the free tortilla chip dish with 3 salsas, with a light bean sauce and cheese. Food was presented well and deeply flavored. And while the meal was filling, it still felt fresh and light - we didn't leave feeling weighed down. Price felt fair for the portions; we got 2 entrees and a side of plantains for about $40 (before tip). Downsides were the service (our server was fine but forgot one of our beverages) and the super "live" quality of the room. With mostly bare tiled walls, the sound bounced everywhere -- even on a quiet weeknight, it was loud. Not a dealbreaker at all, just hope they can add more fabrics and coverings on the walls to help dampen the sound. We would be happy to come back! read more

My experience here was fine. This restaurant is the size of a post stamp, so if you're coming with a large group make sure you make a reservation. I decided on the tamale entree, with one being pork and one being chicken. The pork was tasty, juicy and spicy, but the chicken was dry and somewhat flavorless. The black beans on the side were fine but the rice was a bit dry as well. I think it would have been better to just order the tamales a la carte for significantly cheaper than getting the entree. The prices here are very steep, most ranging around $15 for things you could get at most other restaurants for about five dollars less. If you're in the area I can see this place being convenient, but it's not worth traveling for. It's alright. On a side note, it's byob which I appreciate, and they will provide you with margarita mix if you want. The margaritas other patrons were making looked pretty good, gotta say I was a bit jealous as I drank my beer. read more

The food and service are always spot on here at Oasis. The Burrito's are my favorite choice for takeout and their Fish Tacos with Mahi-mahi an excellent choice and my go-to for eat-in meal. Try one of their daily specials, they are a great choice as well and arr creative and delicious. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portions and the service is always friendly and helpful. Be sure to check out Taco Tuesday here. The restaurant space is small but smartly decorated and inviting and comfortable. They have tables available outside in the warmer weather. The fajitas were lacking, only 3 pieces of meat and a lot of raw vegetables COVERED in oil with no flavor. They do give you a lot of guacamole, however, we brought it home and the next day it was leaking oil which was not appealing. Perhaps we will try some of the tacos next time but otherwise we are not dying to go back. read more

We stopped at this place on 2/28/2021 for lunch because of the many good reviews. However, I would not recommend this place at all. First, they never gave us utensils or napkins, we had to ask for them. When they did bring our utensils, the fork was filthy... rice and other residue. Second, the I asked my carne asad medium ("ribeye") and it was not medium... it wasn't even rare; it was raw. Third... this is the worst part. The rice and beans (very small portion) that came with my entree, has a tiny piece of metal wire - probably from a sponge or other cleaning tool. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of that before they took it away and gave me a new one. Needless to say, I lost my appetite and wasn't able to even finish my meal. The lady up front was very nice, but the cleanliness, safety, and quality of the food was terrible. My wife enjoyed her tostadas but as far as my meal, it was terrible , unfortunately. I want to add that after expressing my disappointment, the restaurant removed the entree from my bill. read more

Went to this great Mexican place to day and we had a feast of wonderful foods. Everything was fresh and homemade authentic Mexican food. We had chicken fajitas and potato and chorizo quesadilla. Both dishes were excellent and tasty. Fresh guacamole and nachos were also terrific! Their sauces were slightly spicy and tasty. We had churros and banana pajamas and flan for dessert. All very tasty. The churros were crispy and soft on the inside. I would probably use another frier for desserts that needed frying because they tend to take on the flavor of the foods. The flan was not your traditional flan but a unique version that was homemade. It had more a consistency of cinnamon cheesecake than custard but was good. Service was good and professional with mask. Oasis made a great first impression! Now, keep in mind it's located in the former home of Stella Pizza (now across the street in the former home of that barbecue place). That means it's a very bare-bones establishment with only a splattering of tables available for eat-in. You can also order pickup or delivery. For my first visit, I ordered the chicken tinga quesadilla. This was not your typical quesadilla! The deep fried tortilla took over the whole plate and was topped with lettuce, cheese and sour cream. The chipotle-sauce laden chicken was so tender and tasty without any extreme heat. Absolutely delicious! I couldn't even finish the thing, but guess how much it set me back? Yeah. Six bucks plus tax/tip. Unbelievable. In addition to the hearty portions, they also provide complimentary chips (donned with refried beans and cheese) and three sauces of varying spice levels. Service was friendly and fast, and most other tables did BYO. With the new brewery open just a few blocks away, I'll have to come back again this summer with a growler! My husband and I met up with another couple for dinner at Oasis and had a wonderful experience! Our meals were delicious and the servers went above and beyond to make it very memorable. Upon arrival, I asked if we could sit outside since it was a beautiful evening and not too hot. One of the servers assisted us with putting two tables together right away. Since it's BYOB, we brought champagne and tequila. We ordered their virgin margarita mix which went great with the tequila we brought! We also started the evening off with guacamole which was very well made and fresh. Plus they brought us complimentary chips and salsa. For dinner, I had the chicken tinga tostadas, my friend had the chicken tinga tacos, and our husbands had the special which was an enchilada - one with beef and one with pork. Everyone was raving about their meals and finished them very quickly. We stayed for a while and the servers kept checking in on us. Locally speaking, Oasis Mexican Grill had become the new place to hit the food gossip circuit for restaurant row in Collingswood, NJ. It is not near the main center of other BYOBs and is much closer to Route 130. Having heard so much positive hoopla on the new BYOB, I decided to book a reservation right away. When I walked in I was surprised by how filled the tables were but I figured out it was mainly carry out and that they didn't have any waiting area. My date and I were greeted by the owners and staff with happy and eager to please smiles. They served complimentary apps immediately (nachos with a bean sauce and salsas). I ordered the Almabre De Pollo ($13) chicken, green and red peppers, onions, melty quesillo on top along with a side of black beans and rice. I asked for no bacon. The entree was a moderate size. The dish was cooked well and came out warm without complaints. I wish I had more to say but it was a plain and light sautéed dish. My date easily housed his enchiladas and I agree by what I had it was much more flavorful. As for the staff, they seemed so delicate, polite and wanted to make customers happy. That's why it is difficult to say that there were certainly some bumps in the service. One carry out order was wrong and switched with another, we weren't given a menu for the first 5 minutes, one of the water pitchers still had a TJ Maxx sticker on it, we needed an ice bucket for our wine, etc... I'm sure since it is their opening week that they will improve though. Inside the atmosphere isn't fine dining but much more 'casual kitchen with glassware and cloth napkins'. The setting also needed a few additions. The parking wasn't a problem for us but it is in suburban Collingswood and is a luck of the draw. On the corner of what seemed like a mostly residential area-great find! Aqua Fresca made individually, fresh per order. Asked our waitress the flavor(s) & she went back to the kitchen & asked what it was. Pineapple. Not a big pineapple fan but a huge aqua fresca fan so I ordered it & mmmmm, refreshing! Made to order. Changes daily. They also have Mexican coke (cane sugar) & Jarritas. Small plate of complimentary homemade chips with sauce. Fresh ingredients, all around. I ordered potato type spring rolls (ok, that's not what they are called, but I can't seem to find it on the online menu after the fact but trust me, it was 2 thumbs up, fresh, on a bed of shredded crispy lettuce and creamy guacamole. A nondescript hole in the wall, tight spaced Mexican place with street parking only? Hey, as long as it's got legit food, it's worth a try, right? The chips and 3 salsas were all right except the refried beans were a bit too watery to our liking. The nachos were ok but my hubby didn't like this aftertaste he was getting from the sauce that sank to the bottom of the plate. I liked it just fine and ate a good half of it. Then the enchiladas came out and oooh they were good! If you like to mix things up, I recommend the enchiladas trio to get all three sauces, the mole, rojo and verde. Very delicious. We made plans here for dinner and I was excited to try it out, being that I've never been here before and he only had lunch here once. He decided to call ahead and reserve a table, which turned out to be a great idea in such a small restaurant. Once we walked in about 3 other couples did too and filled up the remaining tables quickly. The salsas and complimentary chips were a nice start. He decided to get one of the specials, crab enchiladas. He liked them and I thought they were good, not amazing. The price seemed high for what was on the plate. I had high hopes for the tacos. After 75 mins waiting and standing, at 7:30 I said to refund my money because the staff told me they hadn't even started my order. Got full refund and the wait staff didnt apologize to me for the 2+ he wait, didnt offer me 10% off on next order, she just handed me the refund receipt. Wow! The same waitress told a patron to buy a cookbook if she was in such a hurry. Really! That woman patron had been waiting over 2.5 hours! That wait staffer should be fired!
