This was our, my husband and I, first time to try Jake's. We were seated and given menus and the girl told us she would get our waitress. We looked at the menu and the girl came back and took our drink order and brought our drinks. We waited more and finally the same girl came back and took our order. I ordered the Hot Hickory Chicken dilla with tater tots. My husband ordered The Works hamburger and French fries. We continued to wait awhile. Finally the food came. The tater tots were over cooked and the chicken dilla was way smaller than how they looked in the picture on the menu. Every thing was delivered that was ordered. My husband said his hamburger, the meat tasted on the ragged edge of not being good. Chicken dilla was ok, nothing special. My husband had to get his own drink refill. Waitress didn't come until time to deliver the ticket. A lady we know came in with her 2 small children and was seated. She owns a restaurant. She waited and waited and no one came to take her order, so she left. I doubt we will ever be back. Wasn't worth the $35 we paid for the meal, for sure! read more

We placed a large order for breakfast for our company wide meeting and the food was a hit. It was so easy, I called it in the day before and Megan was so friendly on the phone and explained all the food items I was ordering. When I showed up the next morning the food was hot and ready in time. My guys loves the breakfast quesadillas, the Bear burritos and sandwiches. Fast seating and service. Beer choices are good. Ordered fried mushrooms and they had a horrible aftertaste that couldn't be masked with any type sauce. Server was nice enough to offer them recooked but I couldn't stomach trying them again. They removed them from my bill. The Jake's special was good but the fries also had that horrible aftertaste (maybe change your fryer oil). Unfortunately, I won't be back due to the first impression. read more

This was our first visit at Jake's. They recently opened and we were very happy we went. I ordered the bacon blue with tots. My son had the all American double bacon cheeseburger with fries. My first bite was a tot and I was super happy. The bacon blue was outstanding. Properly cooked and seasoned well. I didn't have to add anything to my meal. My son's meal produced similar results. The service was real good and the ambiance was a casual sit down environment. We will be back soon. read more

This was our first time here, and I must say we are impressed. The burgers are absolutely fantastic. They have a fantastic spicy ketchup that went really good on the tater tots that we had as an appetizer. There is a great variety on the menu, including macaroni and cheese bowls which we will be coming back to try. The minute we walked through the door everybody was very friendly with smiles all around. Today we were served by Faith. She said it was only her second day, and she did a great job! First time ever visiting. We almost left within the first 5 minutes after seeing the table, but my wife decided to still give it a shot. Let's start with the filth. Was sat a dirty table with pink slime dried up on it. When the server came, I asked the server to please wipe down my table. The server Tyler B went to serve other tables and never returned. I flagged down another young lady who attempted to remove the pink sludge from the table but was unable and eventually gave up. The table remained gross and dirty with crumbs all over it, so I asked her to please wipe down the entire table. She did so hesitantly. The pink slime remained. Now we can talk about the food in the service. I ordered the double cheeseburger all the way. After taking a few bites of 1/2, I realized something was off. I removed the bun to find that there was no lettuce tomato pickle or onion nor any mustard, as stated on the menu. I was in a time crunch and so I advised my server that the burger was wrong and that I would like it removed from the check . The server informed me that I had eaten the burger so it would be difficult if not impossible to take the Burger off of the check. Bear in mind I had not eaten nearly the whole Burger I had eaten a few bites of one half of the burger before realizing it was wrong as I discussed this with my server Tyler got upset and walked away while I was still speaking with him. This rude and unprofessional behavior blew me away you can't even get away with this at McDonald's but this guy at Jake's Burgers thinks that he's above it all and he deserves to be fired. Tyler Whitton got his manager the manager ended up telling me the same thing that I had eaten the burger and there was nothing they could do for me. There was no apology there was no empathy there was no attempt to make the situation right it was pay your bill and get out. Somehow the fact that they had making an incorrect burger and served it to me turned out to be my fault and I had no recourse of action. I have worked in Hospitality I currently work in customer service I'm 41 years old and I've never been treated like such a child. I will be contacting corporate and I will be letting them know about the behavior of Tyler B just a note to Tyler if your name is on the receipt don't act like an ass hat to your customers and certainly don't walk away while they're speaking to you bad move. I will know happily go tell all of my family all of my friends all of their family and all of their friends in the Waco area about the horrible experience that I had at Jake's hamburgers. Here are some more advice from a customer service expert. Number one in the event of not being able to get the pink slime off offer up another table. Number two don't argue with a customer about refunding a hamburger. The damage that you have incurred due to the fact that you did not want to give up a hamburger has caused a dissatisfaction issue with a customer and a poor Word of Mouth that will go around there could have been some solution half off take the tater tots off take the drinks off here's another Burger on the house the next time you visit here's a coupon for the next time any number of things could have prevented me from walking out of the establishment Furious and refusing to come back. Tyler B should not have a job I would not hire him to clean my bathroom. read more

I really like Jake's. Very good all around. The black sesame seed buns really make it for the burgers. I'd rather have strips of bacon than bits, but it's ok for the consistency. The big serious drawback is the sit-down format. It just doesn't fit. I'd rather order at the counter and sit down than have to have table service with no host. It just seems like in a college town and on the highway, the tip just throws the whole concept into confusion. Table service just isn't necessary. read more

Bad experience from the beginning. Was sat at a dirty table and had to ask twice for it to be cleaned, and it was barely cleaned then. One of our burgers was missing all vegetables and when asked for a refund because on a time crunch we were told that's not possible because "he ate it", 2 bites were taken out of the burger before realizing everything was missing, 2 bites! It was not eaten. When talking to the waiter Tyler, he walked off in mid conversation with an attitude.
