Boxed heaven - check! This is great pizza and worth going in there. The seating is pretty snug but vast in the small appearing building. We ordered to pick up - took 15 mins and it was ready for us by the time we made it in to pick it up. It was great pizza (I love me thin crust) and it was delicious. We have half and half (pepperoni/ sausage, pepper, mushroom, olive) and very delicious! Price wise a medium was about $18 if my memory serves me right, so don't try to compete with the deals of the mainstream pizza guys... but treat yourself to this pizza. read more

Maybe I don't get it. I have heard very good things about Jake's. but my experience left something to be desired. FOOD - The pizza was SUPER salty, and not in a good way. The cheese tasted like it was low quality. The crust was crispy, but too thin to be called New York style. SERVICE - The service was not as good as the food (yikes). The waitress was apathetic to say the least. She did not know the menu and was not overly friendly. DECOR - Not good, but who cares....its a pizza joint. To be honest, the take-and-bake pizza at Papa Murphy's is much better and far cheaper. read more

This locally owned pizzeria is nestled in downtown Willmar. I ordered the noon special: a mini-pizza with the salad bar and a drink included. I also chose the thick crust option for the pizza. The salad bar was basic, but the ingredients were fresh. The pizza, however, left a lot to be desired. The crust was pre-made, and I can't believe someone had the gall to call it "thick." It was most certainly on the thin side and was crisp, not chewy. The flavor was more like a stale cracker than pizza dough. To top it off (literally, ha ha), the cheese, if you could call it that, lacked any flavor at all, and looked like congealed Elmer's glue. It wasn't nicely browned at all, just kind of gooped on for effect. I recall there being some sauce, but it was quite unmemorable since it lacked robust, fresh flavor. I've had better pizzas in the airport. The only thing that saved them from a one star rating is the fact that the service was very friendly. Well, that and the fact that I feel really bad that the town of Willmar clearly lacks a good pizza joint. One star for food; one star for pity. read more

I went in to eat with my family. We were waiting for 40 minuets when we finally got our pizza and it was extremely burnt. The cheese would just fall off, there was a pool of grease so large you could swim in it. If you want good pizza you might want to not eat in willmar. read more

The only good time to go is for the lunch meal, then the service is good, but if you go in the evening the place is run by high school kids and are just watching the clock and could care less if the place makes money..... read more

I haven't had their pizza in over 28+ years. Not that it was bad, it was just all the Big Name pizza places started popping up in town, then moved out of town. I ordered a pizza Thurs. night to be delivered at lunch on Friday. It came on time and was just as good as I remembered it to be! Too bad they don't open back up until 5. I've been coming to jakes for a long while. I love this place so much! The severs and food are always amazing! The reason I give it three stars is the atmosphere and wait time. went to jakes to see the place after the remodel. I was very excited for this restaurant to finally be getting an update and while aesthetically it looks amazing, the functionality is poor. The tables are very small and a party of 4 can barely fit in a table that has 4 spaces let alone the pizza pans the food is served on. In turn the crammed way too many tables into a small area. I was constantly being bumped into because I had to pull another chair to a tiny table. This place is always busy for obvious reasons- good food and people. But the wait time is easily over an hour for food. Another issue is a good majority of the tables are located nearest the door. Right now it is rather cold outside and I spent my time bundled up in my winter jacket only making the experience that much more uncomfortable. The look is nice but looks are not everything. What was truly needed, instead of a make over, is a larger space. I do recommend this place for good pizza. But save yourself the trouble and just place an order for pick up/delivery and eat in the comfort of your own home. read more

Far and away the best pizza in town, in my opinion. Slightly more expensive than your average chain style pizza but infinitely more delicious, and well worth it. My only issue with Jake's is that they're open during kind of strange hours, so make sure to call ahead if you're planning on bringing out a group to save yourself some potential embarrassment. Thin-crust served with just the right amount of gooey, melty, delicious cheese with every topping you could ever possibly want. I'm a big, big fan. read more

This place is located in downtown Willmar and a family run pizza place. Jakes has good lunch specials and can accommodate large groups upstairs on the second floor of the restaurant. However, over time the service gone up and down depending upon who is working. The older servers are nice while the younger ones around the high school or college age group can be rude from time to time. The pizza is ok but is real greasy from the cheese. Overall what brings Jakes score down is the service and quality of the food. read more

Their pizza and chicken bites are really good, however their service leaves much to be desired. I have been ordering from them for 7+ years and not once did I not have A problem with the order. These problems ranged from them not finding our address, to not taking the order properly. Most often they forget to place the chicken bites in two containers (We get two orders), or there is not ranch dressing when requested. Its like I get the C or D team. Is there even an A team at this location? read more
