Good attentive service. All food items ordered were nicely presented. Our server recommended the Walleye sandwich and it didn't lead us astray. Palm-sized piece of fish on generous pieces of bread with a nice dill sauce on the side. I set the bread aside and was still satisfied with my portion. A brownie was perfect to split at the table for "just a taste." We are from out of town and it was nice to randomly find a satisfying meal. read more

I went here with my extended family: six adults and four kids, eight-years old and younger. The menu has something for everyone, including eight different kids' meals. I had the "Bangkok Chicken Flatbread pizza, which was large, had good flavor, but was a bit dry. There were no leftovers, so all enjoyed what they ordered. Four stars represents excellent service and good food. They do surcharge for using a credit card (they call it a cash discount) which I find annoying. read more

Excellent food and service. Gabby was my server and reassured me that the parmesan walleye was prepared in house. I opted for the sandwich portion with a side salad. The service was quick and efficient. The walleye was perfectly prepared with just enough crispness to the parmesan. My intent was to not leat the bread, but the garlic butter that was grilled into it made it too tempting to ignore. I mixed the spinach and sweet onion from the sandwich into the salad and enjoyed the whole thing. I will definitely return for walleye. read more

This was my third visit to O'Neils and I just can't get enough! The staff are very friendly and hospitable, the food is always great and cooked to order. They genuinely care about you as the customer and will check on you to ensure everything is okay. Every item I have purchased here has been tasty and delicious. The service is very fast which is a plus. I highly recommend O'Neils to anyone visiting the Spicer/Green Lake area. Thumbs up to Carrie the bar maiden, she is great! read more

The service was great and attractive, the decor is fun with automobileia hanging on the walls. I was a little disappointed in the walleye dinner that seemed under cooked. We have been satisfied before with other items on the menu but the walleye missed the target last time so we tried it again to give them another opportunity to get it right. Sorry! read more

Like the atmosphere. Staff is friendly. Prices are high and the last couple visits I was not impressed with the food. Pasta Parmesan was overly salty and not great texture. Cobb salad wasn't that great either. I thought it should have had ham but wasn't paying attention. Very sparse avocado for the size of the salad. Blue cheese dressing is not the good steakhouse style but tasted like a corn syrup type dressing. Based on this visit alone, I would not plan to go back for a long time. Previous visit was a few months ago. Live music outside on patio was nice. The pizza tasted pretty good but was so oily, swimming in oil and too much greasy cheese. read more

Awesome bar, awesome food!! I've been here a handful of times and the wings are super good!!!! Yeah the wings and fries are a great combo aka the fries are super good too! Also, one time I got the burger and that sucked. Maybe it was from comparison to the wings though. Either get wings and fries, not burgs. Fun atmosphere. I had a good view of a guy with a very nice mullet eating a burger. He seemed to like the burger so maybe that's just preference and I shouldn't be so vocal about bad burg experience. Could've been a fluke. Either way I'm sticking with wings so I'll never know. read more

We ordered a Burger and a salad the salad was ok definitely better than the burger which isn't saying much., The Burger came out overcooked and extremely dry. We took one bite and let the waitress know that it was way over cooked.. rather than offering a replacement meal we were told "at least we got 50% of it right". We then shared my salad and didn't take another bite of the burger. Then we were offered a to go Box for the meal we didnt eat. Which we declined.. Our waitress came back with a bill for the full amount. I said im not ok paying for the Burger we didn't eat. She asked if she should send the manager out and we said yes. 5 minute's later "they're still working on it". We've been sitting here now waiting which we believe to be intentional. No worries it gave me the time to write this review. I can't recommend this restaurant which is unfortunate as the menu and location were great. read more

Really fun atmosphere with a great patio overlooking Green Lake. We shared the MN poutine and the Asian burger with onion rings. Our burger tasted burnt and the fries and onion rings weren't homemade. Not the best food but still worth a stop if you're looking for a fun place to eat. read more

We have been regulars at O'Neil's for years and had a concern this evening. Upon arrival, the restaurant's doors were plastered with a notice that anyone not paying cash would be subject to a 3.99% credit card surcharge. While I respect the right to choose to do that, I am not likely to patronize an establishment that makes such a choice. My reasons: 1) Any establishment paying 3.99% to their cc processing company is getting royally ripped off. I know - my company integrates with cc processing companies through our point-of-sale and none are near that. 2) Minnesota State Law requires any establishment charging a credit card surcharge to post a sign stating this (done), require the servers to verbally inform the customer (questionable, not policy), print the policy prominently on the menu (NOT done) and to ensure that the amount charged is not in excess of the actual cc processing fee (highly doubtful, unless the owner had failed to negotiate cc processing fees). O'Neil's has been very important to us and we value their excellent food and service. I am sincerely sorry to feel the need to complain. We frequent several other restaurants every day of the week and have never encountered this. We will increase the frequency of visiting these other establishments that choose NOT to add a credit card surcharge. read more

Gotta say I was super excited to try their chicken pear salad for lunch till I got the bill. $18.17 total w/tax. When I questioned the waitress she said the chicken is $4 more. So lettuce, craisins, pecans, hard pears, n poppyseed dressing is $13 for an avg size salad. Wow! When I sat down I asked what kind of salads they have and waitress recommended this one. She asked if I wanted chicken. Well of course I do:) This is totally my fault for not asking the price but since I travel everyday and eat out, I expected average price of about $8-$9. Wham! I have been here about 5 times now and it has been great every time! I love coming here around 3:30 to see the regulars interact. Mix of people drinking and talking, yes actually talking and not on their cell phones. The staff are absolutely top notch! They have a music box, modern version, that people continue to punch in great songs. I grab my laptop to do a little work and a drink. Then I just sit and take it all in. Very good food as well. I will continue to make this a regular stop when I travel here. read more

I live here in Spicer and get take out from here all the time. I favorite is the parmesan crusted walleye sandwich basket. Just for a sandwich and side is $16+tip makes it $20. I've tried other things on the menu and it's all been pretty food. Only complaint is it's a little pricey. The employees all been nice! read more

Sitting on the patio with the view of Green Lake in the summer is the best! They have a great variety of food and drinks and the best desserts! Their staff does a great job keeping up on those crazy summer nights. If you're an out of towner I definitely recommend this restaurant -- you won't be disappointed. read more

They did a great job with the remodel, but the service was horrible. We were lucky to get a table quickly, but I saw 3 couples come, wait, and leave because the staff totally ignored them. The food is good, but the service could use some work. It's what you'd expect in such a small town; the servers are very friendly, but they are not great servers. A few months ago I was in with a friend, and after the waitress took our money to grab change, she came back with the bills she owed me, but said "I kept your 11 cents. I didn't think you'd mind." Granted, I probably would have left her my 11 cents, but that's just not something you do. I like to go for the fries and stout ranch (yum!) during the slower seasons, but it's too full of out-of-towners all summer. read more

Had dinner at Johnny O'Neil's on Tuesday night. The weather wasn't great, so the crowd was thin. Had excellent service and good food. We thought it was a good value. People have to realize that a restaurant doesn't always know what the size of the crowd will be. 2 groups walking in can really throw things off if you're understaffed. Be patient and say something when you are there to get the problem corrected. We are thankful to the Olson's for doing this huge renovation and keeping a good restaurant in Spicer, MN! read more

I was passing through town from Los Angeles and decided to stop. I ordered the Gorgonzola steak salad and loved it. I'm not sure why there are so many poor reviews on here. I've been traveling in the area for about a week and this was by far the best meal I had. The service was friendly and the view is hard to beat. Food was amazing but service from the older bartender lady with dark curly hair was not friendly at all. She would help everyone around us except us and wouldn't even smile or say "I'll be with you shortly". As a server, I found her behavior unacceptable. read more

This is kind of "the place" to go in Spicer. I'm my experience and from everyone I have talked to, you kind of can't have a bad meal at O'Neil's. Quite literally everything on the menu is great. Some my favorites are the OG bread, jalapeño burger, fish tacos, etc. Since it is such a popular place though, you may wait upward of 20 mins for a seat on busy nights(Fridays, weekends, etc). Both sandwiches had very little flavor. It appeared to be the same cut of steak for both sandwiches even though the menu stated one was a prime rib and the other was ribeye.
