Well my goodness what a fricken amazing Drive Inn! Had a sister road trip planned to see the crow out In Belgrade which to her made her trip...me i was along for the snacks and conversation! Was incredible with how many people told us to stop here after we posted that we were in Belgrade...everyone said Red Onion you will be glad you did. With reasonable prices and a full menu of any thing you could possibly want. There is really no reason for a kid to say that there is nothing i would like...cause I tried all of the things! Ham and Cheese Sandwich Cheese curds Fries Ham and cheese balls I called em Mexiballs cause they have corn, cheese, jalapeno deep fried Chocolate Shake I even bought a shirt cause why the heck not! Whole staff was lovely, tables outside were full of travelers! Loved everything about our visit to Belgrade and this just made it even better! read more

Just a few words to share, if you have eaten at the Red Onion prior to the new owners you've been lucky!! We order from here often and usually spen at least $40 at a time. I guess it's not allowed to voice your opinion. I called to tell the people at the restaurant they don't need to smash it all in one bag. Not sure what they are trying to do, but my burgers are smashed and the cheese is all over the wrapper, secondly if a person orders the cowboy bites they are alway smashed, at least 6+ times. So I called to tell this to them, first they were ok and offered me a gift certificate, which I said was fine. Then today as I was at my job, the owner of the Red Onion, hands me $40 and says "don't come back", not sure what I did?? I guess the home town feeling from the Red Onion, isn't so friendly. So to my fellow facebookers if you don't want to be banned like me don't ever leave a comment with the Red Onion. read more

WOW! Do not miss this special place! My husband and I stayed local (also awesome : Feathered Acres Learning Farm & Inn) and this was a recommended visit on their list of local food. Sure, it's *cash only* but we were so impressed with the food (burgers, fries, shakes) we were looking in every crevice of our car for more coins or cash. Lesson learned : store an 'emergency $20 in the dash' for dining like this -- EXCELLENT, wish you were closer to me! Red Onion makes a fantastic meal, don't miss it! read more

If you want a simple burger and fries I recommend this place. We got our meal relatively quick. They have tables outside to eat which were clean. Service was friendly and quick. Great place for a quick bite to eat the girls did a wonderful job. read more

For fast food, this is pretty damn good. Food is made-to-order and was delicious for a small-town restaurant. Plenty of ice cream options if you have a sweet tooth, but I was craving actual food. I ordered the breaded cauliflower. My traveling partner ordered the California burger and we split an order of french fries. The french fries are crinkle-cut, large, and were cooked perfectly. Generous portion for around $2.65. The cauliflower was breaded, but doesn't have the cheese inside. To counter this, you are given a large container of cheddar cheese sauce to dip them in. We used the cheese sauce for the fries and I got the ranch. The ranch was cheap stuff out of a bottle and detracted from the overall flavor. My friend enjoyed her hamburger--it had grilled onion, mayo, ketchup, and pickle. She enjoyed it immensely and believed that they used fresh beef from a local locker. Many kudos if that's the case. As an aside, Red Onion doesn't take cards. From a business perspective, I understand why you don't want to run a bunch of cards for smaller transactions. But its almost a must in this day and age. Fortunately, my friend had cash and she was able to cover me in return for me buying her coffee later in the trip. read more

Overall, food was good, decently priced, no cards and Side of flies come free. Changing the garbage more frequently should be helpful.

It was a fun place to eat with delicious food! The burgers and malts were amazing. Great customer service as well!

A dying breed of fast-food; the drive-up hamburger stand. We were told that the ground beef is locally-sourced. The burger meat has a mellow flavor, the fries are fine, and the cheese-balls are salty. There are picnic tables on both sides of the building. I'd go back. read more

This is our go to spot for great food! We take 71 from Okoboji, IA to Park Rapids. We love to stop here for their hamburgers, hot ham & cheese, fries, cheese curds and for dessert their floats or malts. If you're in the area in the best food April-October!! read more

Great place to stop at and have a snack at. Picked up a strawberry banana shake on way home. It was as very good and blended well with real pieces of fruit. It's a cute little place that reminds me of the snack shack in Lakeville,mn. I would stop by here if your ever traveling up this way.
