After nine in the evening in my neighborhood, it's fast food only if you want someone else to prepare your food and there's not many choices at that even on Saturday. We headed across the lake into Mansfield and stopped at Jakes Burgers and Beer. Jakes stays open until 11 p.m. and was easy to get to off Broad St. I lived off Skillman the last time I had a Jakes Burger and my husband has never had one. Our friendly waiter reassured me they hadn't changed. The menu certainly has though! What a vast array of creative ideas for burgers, sandwiches and even breakfast and brunch! It took me awhile to decide. Salads, platters, veggies. Great choices. There were so many appealing appetizers, but we decided on the Half and Half Hand-Breaded Jalapeño Bottle Caps & Hand-Breaded Pickle Chips, served with ranch. When they came, I can honestly say the grouping looked nothing like the photo. These were much smaller. But for the two of us, the portion was okay and it was delicious. The jalapeños were spicy and the pickles tangy. A terrific combo to get your palate fired up. My spouse had ordered the Kickin' Chicken Fried Bacon Burger and it arrived in all its glory. Two beef patties with hickory sauce and melted cheese, lettuce, red onion, chipotle mayo, topped with two slices of beautiful chicken fried bacon. He let me have a bite of the bacon. It's crazy good. My burger came, the Bacon Bleu Burger with Bacon, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and a creamy bleu cheese dressing with crumbles. I had ordered extra pickles on the side and I received four but I absolutely love them so I asked for four more right away. I think it's sacrilege to just put whole intact slices of onion on anything without separating the rings, so I had to "operate" before I could eat. I also asked for a plain bun. You have a choice between poppy seed or plain. This was a truly delicious burger. One of the best bleu cheese burgers I've ever had and very filling. I took half home! First time at Jake's and it was pretty good. We got the hangover burger, which was flavorful and juicy, but was on the runny side with the sauce. My bf didn't like it that much due to that. I haven't been to this location in about a year... i come back so excited to try it again and the patties literally look like McDonald's premade patties. Well, McDonald's has more flavor.. It took so long for everything to come out and even then, Everything came out lukewarm! I was so hungry that i just passively ate half my burger and didn't say anything.. and before y'all say anything , there was literally Only 1 other table seated . Sadly , the food proves why . The burger patties were 100% frozen and then cooked. The patties were so small compared to most places and did not taste good. The fried pickles were mediocre and had a taste of old frying oil. I would not recommend anybody go to this restaurant unless you like frozen patties. read more

Jakes Burgers and beer has been around since 1985, serving the community with great beer and awesome food. This location is at the corner of 360 and E Broad in Mansfield,TX. I have been to this location multiple times for their great draft beer selection and food. The draft selection is always changing, and they update their menu as it comes and goes. They have a full bar here and multiple dining options as well such as patio dining and an indoor type setting for service. All of the staff and workers do a great job providing service and look happy and proud being here as well. I usually start off with some appetizers like fried pickles or jalapeño chips with a side of ranch. The pretzel bites are good as well with queso and a spicy mustard provided along with it. The hamburgers don't get no better than this with a nicely prepared juicy patty with toppings and cheese and a choice of a sesame bun or not. The fries are out of this world and seasoned to perfection. If you want to try something new, I would personally go with the tater tots with chili and cheese and green Chile's. Everything about this location is great with the wide variety of drink selections and freshly prepared food. They have a seasonal menu as well where you can try some seasonal option favorites. I highly recommend this location and restaurant when trying to choose food for family and friends. Been here many times, trying 3-5 different burgers, 2-4 different options for quesadillas. The Hot Hickory and the burgers with Jalapeño bottle caps are all good. Last week I had Classic Double Cheeseburger , and the Grilled Chicken Mac n Cheese, with toast. The toast is awesome. Wife and kids all got something different and they loved what they ordered. What they couldn't eat, they took home in a Togo box. I loved the idea of our server laying a card on the table with his name on it and ways to review our experience. After we looked over the menu, my wife decided on the traditional Jake burger with fries, and I opted for the Blen Cheese Bacon burger with onion rings. We asked our server if we could keep the menus to look over them. We were excited when we discovered they opened for breakfast, oh yummy! After a short was while we were enjoying our drinks, our burgers arrived on the metal quarter pans. I loved the presentation. Both of our burgers looked AWESOME. When we bit into our burgers, our tummies jumped for joy, the first bite sealed the deal we had made the right decision to stop in. There was something special about the taste of the burger patties. They were fresh tasting and seasoned to perfection. My wife loved her traditional Jake burger and home cut fries. It's exactly what she wanted. My Bacon Bleu Cheeseburger was one of the best bacon Bleu burgers I've ever tasted. The bacon was fried crispy and had the perfect crunch to it, a perfect symphony in my mouth. My onion rings were lukewarm - considering they were $7 for a small side I was disappointed. I ordered fried bottlecap jalepenos on my burger that were very obviously old as they were pretty chewy. It was decently packed but seated quickly once inside. This location isn't all that big. Tables and booths to choose from for seating. We were seated at a booth with a high chair for my son. Our waitress was really nice and gave us plenty of time to look over the menu. We started out with the mushrooms for an appetizer. It was for sure recently cooked because they were hot but good. The sauce was a little spicy. For my meal I had the turkey burger with sweet potato fries. The fries had a sweetness to them and was even served with some sweet sauce to dip it into. The burger itself was big and had cheese and avocado on it. It was a really good burger. My husband had the breakfast burger and it was so big with so much meat he couldn't finish it.
