House chips with pulled pork. Worth it!
Joe T.

I usually avoid places with a hundred reviews and only three stars. Glad I tried this one. (Three stars is accurate.) Apparently, they've heard the criticism of the dry, stringy brisket and just taken it off the menu. Wait staff was friendly and prompt, unlike some other reviews. Maybe today was a good day (a Monday at lunch - not extremely busy). We ordered the house chips with pulled pork, a pulled pork sandwich, and a smoked chicken platter ($5.95 for a leg quarter platter? Yes, please! Wait - don't do it!) The pulled pork is tender and good. The chips were not smothered in sauce, so it was easy to get a few bites of "pure, unadulterated" pork. Good flavor. That $5.95 chicken? There's a reason it's cheap. Probably the smallest chicken thigh I've ever seen. Tasted good, but it was a bit dry and overdone. The coleslaw was decent - not too wet, with a vinegar based dressing. Baked beans were okay- a little too sweet for my taste but not bad. Three stars - I wouldn't go out of my way for this, but it's a decent stop if you're traveling through at lunchtime and need a BBQ fix.

Cruise by! You won't be disappointed.

My experience was five stars. We've come here only a couple times while visiting my Dad, we live in California. And we've always been treated well and the food/drinks were always tasty. Time for a review! Food here and atmosphere is a BBQ/sports bar feel. Come through you won't be disappointed.

Another one of those hometown faves I don't ever think to review. This local place has made very few changes over the years, but if it ain't broke don't fix it. The service is usually great, the drinks are decent, & the food is awesome. The loaded potato, burger, & salad (yes the salad) are reaaally good. Went with the chicken Philly this time just to switch things up & it was excellent. The fried mushrooms are a must, & my companion enjoyed their hamburger steak which was requested with no gravy. Only complaint was I wasn't fond of the onion rings, but my granny had no issues polishing them off they also have hot & fast lunch specials during the week.

Here's my epic Blackened Chick Salad
Bill T.

What a gem in a sea of the Central Mississippi ocean. I've driven through here several times now and this is THEE place to stop. Let's go thru what a good stop consists of for a sports fan whose looking for a varied menu. First the negative.... No draft beer, no whole bottled wine, 2 TV's at the bar. Ok, we move on. I ordered the blackened chicken salad. I'm going to say it.... there was ALMOST too much chicken in it! Yeah I said it. I am stuffed on this kitchen sink of a salad. Romaine under a mass of perfectly blackened chick, tomatoes, cheddar, crutes and I'm thinking some bacon? Anyhoo I previously had their beef tips, De-Lish! Great tunes for a 58 year old playing throughout. Great bartenders, totally chill bar, and that varied menu mentioned earlier is a big fat yes. When you're in central MS you gotta stop here. Open 'til 10 pm is a plus too. I always meet nice peeps here and the value is top notch. Check out my salad......

Inside, the lighting was cozy and fun.

They may need a new drink machine because none of their drinks were good. Food was a tad bit salty but edible.

Not much bang for your buck. Food ok. My catfish and fries were cold. Service slow. This place survives on the interstate trade

Pappy’s Burgers & Barbecue - Rib tips...freaking AWESOME!

Pappy’s Burgers & Barbecue

OK, this is a long one but you'll see why...so my husband and I were traveling back from St. Louis…read moreMissouri passing through Granada, Mississippi when we stopped to get some gas for the last leg of our trip. While we were standing outside filling up our gas tanks, a deliciously, smoky scent wafted our way. When we finished gassing up, we actually followed the scent to the front door of Pappy's burgers and barbecue! There are a couple of things that I associate with good barbecue: for one, there's was this huge grill standing out just outside the front door. The SMELLS coming out of that thing were ridiculous! It made our mouths water! Since the grill was closed, I couldn't see was actually cooking inside of it so I hurried inside to get a view of what we might be potentially eating. We were not disappointed! The ribs and brisket on customer's plates look amazing! They were large cuts of brisket, (including the fatty side, which I personally LOVE), and the ribs were thick and meaty! We were ready to order and dig in but then we were told they were out of brisket and that the ribs were gonna take another hour to an hour and a half to fully cook they had sold out twice already! Mr. Bobby likes the meat to be ready to fall off the bone before offering it his customers. We tried to get him to pull the ribs early since they were cooked and we informed him that we were had been driving for over eight hours and were just passing through. We still had another 4 hours to drive at that point. He apologized, but insisted that the ribs wouldn't be ready for another hour and a half because they had to soak. We had a decision to make: did we simply move on and head home or wait an hour and a half for what we were hoping would be a delicious and rewarding experience? We decided to wait even if it meant that we were gonna be getting into New Orleans at night. We gambled, and decided to stay. Boy, am I GLAD we made that decision! During our hour and a half wait we met the owners of the establishment Mr. Bobby and his wife Mikki...(sorry Miss Mikki if I'm spelling your name wrong)! We also met many of the other staff members, as well as their grandson who was a kick! They were all the nicest people, and Mr. Bobby explained his process or (at least some of it), about what makes his food so great! it was a fascinating conversation! To put delight, they had smoked wings available, so we ordered a tray of six and shortly afterwards another tray of 10! They were so very good and moist! Meat falling off the bone indeed! For the record, I don't really like chickens drumettes. They tend to be a little dry for me. Can I tell you that I devoured seven of them and didn't look back? Even though we had to wait time passed rather quickly because the whole group were entertaining and fun to talk to! After eating the chicken wings, we were fillec with even more anticipation for the ribs. Mr. Bobby was completely out of brisket, but believe me, we will get it the next time we go! He also offers three barbecue sauces, all of which were very good, including the mustard one which I generally don't like. You could easily tell they were homemade, though he told us about some gentleman on Google review named Tim that tried to insinuate that the sauces were out of a bottle. I don't know where Tim is from but he has no clue what a homemade barbecue sauce taste like, apparently. Tim, you SERIOUSLY MISSED THE BOAT, BUDDY! if, for some all godly reason, you didn't like his food that's you're right, but to insinuate that the man didn't make his own sauce is just downright disrespectful! (and it shows a serious like a knowledge on your part). Anyway, the ribs delivered! They were moist and meaty, and the flavor was fantastic! They were full of smoke, and yet there was a sweetness about them at the same time. I don't know how to describe it; I just know I ate it all! Because we're were waiting for so long Mr. Bobby sent us home with some free drinks and some more of those dang wings! I think the only way they made it home was because we were both so stuffed from our meals. My grown children DEVOURED them once we got home! It's a four hour drive from Granada to New Orleans, but we are already planning to come back with our kids and some of their friends. This is one of a few places that I would make that 4 hour drive for. If you live in Granada, don't sleep on them! Thank God I don't, I'd be broke every month! Looking forward to seeing them again soon! Thanks, Mr. Bobby and Miss Mikki for the wonderful food and a wonderful hospitality! Our next project takes us in the other direction, but when we're on the way home, we're going to tell everybody to meet us at your spot! Oh! I almost forgot! He makes homemade cakes too! We had the red velvet! It didn't last too long...

Stopped here on way home from camping. Very friendly people and the best BBQ brisket nachos I have…read moreever had. The pickles make the dish. Cool off the spice of the jalapeños. Brisket, burgers and wings. All Delicious!!
