I live in Missouri and the Orleans Bistro is in Grenada, Mississippi but it is well worth the 400 mile drive to eat there. It's in the old part of town and doesn't have the best ambiance (although the real fire in the fireplace was nice) but it makes up for that with the quality of food and excellent service. I visit a friend in the area twice a year and the highlight is always dining at the Bistro. My personal favorite is the bacon wrapped grilled shrimp with fresh fruit and grilled asparagus. My friend had the filet and her mother had crab cakes. All was superb. Your glass never got empty and the wait staff was attentive but not overly attentive because that's just annoying! I highly recommend this place. Check days and hours before going because the hours vary. read more

The wife and I slipped into this little gem on a Friday night. We were passing through on our motorcycles and popped in with no reservations. Ann greeted us and let us know they had 2 large groups that night, but invited us in and welcomed us with open arms. We were expecting slow service due to the large groups, but no! I travel for a living, and this hidden gem is my favorite place to eat in the state of Mississippi. I had the Catfish Thibodeaux, a shrimp and crabmeat stuffed panko bread crumb incrusted catfish filet topped with a Jalepeño cream sauce. They serve it over a veggie rice pilaf which by itself would be amazing. Their appetizers are fantastic, and the Seafood Gumbo is some of the best you'll get anywhere. Once again the Bistro came through . My wife and I ate dinner there on thursday evening. We both decided to try the rib eye steak. I had the gulf coast and she had the 12 oz both were cooked to perfection served piping hot and were delicious. The service was very good and the ambiance was great. Although we got the cold shoulder from service staff, the food was overall - outstanding. We had seafood gumbo which was less gumbo-y than typical, but a great sausage and charred veggie flavor. I couldn't detect t any roux at all. We also had fried crawfish. I should have known better because the crawfish were lost in the batter. Nice batter though We waited a very long time for our entree. Server walked by several times and didn't check on us. We were totally out of drinks. First, let me warn ya, the portions are huge. Shrimp and grits came out and the grits were cooked perfectly as was the fresh shrimp. The sauce had a strong A1 flavor. I could have some without that since the shrimp and grits were great as they were. We also had their catfish. It was served on a rice mixture which had a great flavor and was very moist despite the Uncle Ben's texture. The fish was extremely tasty and fresh- also cooked to perfection. Exorbitant but charming. This down-town night haunt distinguishes itself in north Mississippi though its New Orleans style. White table cloths, folded, napkins, ice-water served; you get the picture. When you order rare they give it to you rare. This is the mark of an accomplished cook-staff. You might as well spend the $30 for it when a fish plate will run toward $20. Surprisingly, the fried mushrooms were tastier than the steak. The steak could hold its own but lacked any zing at all. It was a quality cut but rather bland. One advantage this place has is that it is very quiet. You could hear a cat prowling for a mouse. Luckily, there were neither rats nor cats to be seen. read more

Hands down the best place to eat for dinner. Their amazing food makes up for their odd hours. I would suggest getting the salmon if you see it's on the menu and of course it's one of the few places to get real vegetables with your meal. It's a shame that more people in this area don't get to the downtown area to experience the great food. They also have one of the most extensive wine selections in town. For all of you others, enjoy your blissful ignorance while dining at this second rate establishment. You can enjoy a great atmosphere, fine dining pricing, along with rubber shrimp, greasy gumbo, canned oysters, and frozen crawfish. I asked if the roux was home-made, when finding out it was my only advise to the so called chef is to change the recipe or use it from a can. Those fried oysters made me sick for hours, and for that i thank you, a few more days of dry heaving and I'll have six pack abs again. The place has potential, maybe i caught an off day, but if you want a taste of crawfish in tge Grenada area, head out towards the lake to 333 on a Friday night. My girlfriend and I stopped here on our way down to New Orleans. We couldn't wait to have some good Cajun/Creole food and found this place on our travels. First, the staff was very friendly, thank you! The food was good, but not what you would expect in New Orleans. I ordered the daily special Po Boy; shredded chicken with crawfish and cream on top served open face with green beans and mashed potatoes. The sandwich was tasty, but the chicken was a little dry, the sauce helped... The potatoes were homemade and the green beans were out of a can. I liked the seasoning on the green beans, but they were cooked to mush. My girlfriend had a cup of the seafood gumbo, which was very good. It was serviced with lots of shrimp, crawfish and chicken. She also got the blackened catfish Po Boy, which was good. I thought the fish was small and could have been seasoned more, but it was cooked well and tasted very fresh. I don't know if we will be back to the area, but I would stop if I was hungry and driving through town. read more

I just had the most delicious meal ever here. Starting with the fried green tomato slices topped with shrimp and yummy sauce. Then the special catfish dish had a crispy light breading and sauce that was perfection. The jalapeño slices added just the right amount of punch to this as well as the grilled zucchini slices. My family was heading south on vacation and looked on Yelp to locate someplace unique for lunch. We happened upon Orleans Bistro and sooooo glad we did! We had jambalaya, POBoy sandwich, walnut salad and chicken salad. All were delicious!!! Then came the desserts. That was my favorite. Had the caramel pie and it was amazing. Our waiter was so cute. Stopped in while on vacation to try out since the reviews were so positive. Not that impressed. Although the staff were very friendly, the food was subpar. I had the shrimp and grits. Received a large bowl of grits, but no shrimp. After digging around I found tiny ground up bits of shrimp here and there. It came with a side- of which I ordered the fried green tomatoes. They were greasy and tasted as if they were frozen. For this, I was charged $14.95. My husband had the steak, which although cooked and seasoned nicely, was very fatty. Poor cut. It was really a shame as the people and atmosphere were so nice. It was just really expensive for the quality of what we received. Very disappointed. read more
