One of the best pulled pork sandwiches I've had anywhere in the country. Seriously good!

While working in Grenada, MS and hearing such great things about this place I decided tonight's the night! I have been wanting some great tasting Fried Fish so off to High on the Hog I went. It's a walk up window for orders and they do have a couple of outdoor picnic tables under cover. They don't have a working phone number or shall I say the number on their menu is a fast busy. I ordered their Fried Fish plate, regular size that is suppose to come with 3 pieces of fish, choice of 3 sides, tartar sauce and Texas Toast. I love lemon juice on my seafood, was told they ran out yesterday and still have none. I got back to my hotel room and yes my Togo box has 3 pieces of fish, my three sides, onion rings, potato salad, and coleslaw. No tartar sauce, no Texas toast and 2 packs of ketchup. I tried calling, fast busy. They serve BBQ and many other items. I may give them a second try but I most definitely will check my order before leaving. read more

Some of the worst food I've ever eaten, better yet, attempted to eat. The barbecue pork sandwich was awful. Taste and consistency were like some institutional mystery meat. I believe it came out of a can. The slab of ribs was even worse. No bbq or smoke flavor. If I was a betting man, I would wager that they were boiled and finished by baking them in the oven. Such a great hole in the wall, walk up and order to go. They had a little bit of everything in the menu. We chose the catfish plate and it was great ! The flavor was yummy and the food was done really quickly and the staff were nice. Easy in and easy out. read more

The BBQ is okay, but their fish plate and hamburgers are my go to favorites. The hamburgers are generous handmade patties like you would make at home and they are well dressed if you like lettuce, onion, and tomato. If you are on a hurry just call your order in. read more

I visited this business 3 times. The first and second time the food was amazing. The third time I had to take the food back because fries were old and cold. After receiving the food for the second time the fries was still cold. So, I will not be returning to this establishment. read more

On my way home from Memphis, I texted a friend and asked about good fish spots in her hometown of Grenada. She immediately hit me back and said High on the Hog. I wasn't too keen on a place that sold bbq for good fish but was so glad I stopped by. It's totally take out with a few picnic tables in front to sit if you wish. You basically walk up to the window and order them wait. After ordering a fish plate, I waited maybe 5 minutes before they called my name to get my food. I started to eat in my car and drive off but after one bite of the fish, I pulled back in and opted to eat at the picnic table that was out in the hot sun. That's how good the fish was to me! The fish was some of the best I've ever had! Fried to perfection and gorgeous golden brown color. There were four fish strips which probably equal two whole filets. The coleslaw didn't look like it would be good but it was heaven in a plated section. I had fries too which were the standard fare. I loved the hush puppies as well. They give you three big one and I was only able to finish two. The tartar sauce is homemade it appears. It was good but I'm not a big tartar sauce fan. And to top it off, the food is reasonably priced. I paid $8 and some change for all I got! I'm awaiting my next trip back so I can have a reason to get another fish plate! read more

I grew up eating here. This was in my childhood town and it's a local treat. The bbq is exceptional and I've often found myself comparing other bbqs I've had around the US to this local sweet sauce. I can't express how amazing this establishment is. The food, the atmosphere, the character. It's all so perfect. There is a wide variety of food available to the costumer. Examples of such delicacies consist of: onion rings, fries, hush puppies, the best barbecue around, and much, much more. Another great trait is the atmosphere. The air is always filled with conversation. This, that, who did what and where. You can not get a better experience at any other restaurant. A place like this in such a small town gives everyone the opportunity to join any conversation. One last things about are the workers. This restaurant doesn't look like much when you're passing by but let me tell you you must stop. We ordered the large barbecue burger. This place is a MUST stop whenever I'm in town! Not a sit down place and there isn't a drive through either. They bake the ribs, then smother it in BBQ sauce. It's as good as baked ribs can be. Their side items are very limited. Given that there's not much in Grenada, this place is adequate. read more

I ordered the rib dinner with two sides. I got home threw out the white bread (Texas toast) bbq sauce, potato salad and too sweet baked beans=none of which are good when your watching ya weight lol I did taste the sides tho not for me. This is a drive up restaurant. If you need an interior in which to eat, look further. I recommend Jake and Rips.

I love their BBQ sandwiches and their chicken sandwiches and of course the tater babies are awesome!!!
