I am very disappointed at this restaurant. I ordered loaded fries and got cold hard cheese on top of lukewarm fries. Gross. We ordered alligator,oysters, crawfish, and shrimp the swampland platter. The alligator wasn't worth my time to get it. It was puny little pieces, overcooked chewy baby food. The shrimp was good and the oysters were good. The toasted bread had no flavor dried out bread. What happened to sitting at a table being waited on? Was it too hard and they became lazy The portions of the food was not worth the price they charge in Oxford, Mississippi. Absolutely delicious dinner at Obys! They have a wide variety of options to satisfy most. I ordered the cup of crawfish étouffée, a cup of rice and beans, hush puppies and the bread pudding. The crawfish étouffée was perfectly seasoned with loads of crawfish! The rice and beans was equally delicious. Service is quick and warm. Second time stopping in, and it is very, very good. The first go around I had the chicken tenders, but this time, I had the Reuben, with waffle fries. Both were excellent. You walk in, order at the counter, pay, and get a number to put on the table of your choice. From there, the food is brought out to your table. Someone will check on you and even offer refills, much like a normal server. They have an interesting hybrid service system here where you stand in line to order at the counter then they bring your food to you at your table. They have a generous selection of items here so you should be able to find items that would please most people. I've tried this spot a couple of times but it really hasn't motivated me to want to make a return visit as nothing was really great it has all been just ok so there are just other places I enjoy eating at more than here. I stopped by for lunch, been a couple of years since I've been there but we always have enjoyed the food. I ordered a half muffuletta and pasta salad. The pasta salad was okay but the sandwich was really the worst muffuletta I have ever eaten. I'm not sure what it was, but they don't use traditional bread and instead of olive salad, it had some kind of nasty creamy sauce that soaked the entire sandwich. I had occasion to order delivery from Oby's yesterday (sick college kid). I called them to verify delivery to her area, and they were very helpful on the phone. Ordered a couple of soups, salad and bread and was kept abreast of delivery timeline through an online update. As with many restaurants, they use outside delivery companies and the food did not show up for the sick kid. I spoke with Oby's personnel again (both staff and a manager) and they were very kind and helpful. Thrilled to say the food was excellent and service just couldn't be better. This place is simply amazing! If I could give it 10 stars I would. The menu on the wall behind the registers is simply humongous! There are so many items to choose from that it was difficult to make a choice. This Cajun style eatery has some of the best Cajun food I've had anywhere based on the two times I visited it during the two days I was in town. On the first night, I got the fried catfish and the coleslaw side. The catfish was cornmeal battered just like I like and the fish pieces were thin and perfectly seasoned so there was a lot of flavor per bite. The coleslaw was really good as well and had more than just cabbage in it. The next day for lunch, I got the fried shrimp Poboy and the waffle fries. The Poboy bun was exactly what you would expect with a Cajun Poboy. The bread had the crispy flaky exterior with the soft inside. The shrimp was a good size, perfectly seasoned and battered. I got the side of waffle fries, which rival Chick-fil-A's waffle fries. If I were staying in town longer, I would probably go there every day and try something new off of the menu. I remember this restaurant from business trips to Starkville. The Oxford restaurant was a recent discovery, but it is as good as I remember it from Starkville. My go-to orders at Oby's have always been their sandwiches and po'boys. For my first taste of Oxford's Oby's, I chose their roast beef po'boy. The bread was a delight, the meat and toppings were incredibly fresh, and the service was top-notch. Sandwiches are always good. I will alternate between the Around The World sandwich and the Club wrap. My bride usually gets the roast beef sandwich and potato salad. Many times when my bride is out of town working I will order from Oby's. Usually in 15 minutes or less my order is ready to go. Really underrated restaurant in Oxford. Service is super efficient and food comes out speedy fast, yet servers were nothing but polite and helpful. Oby's is my go to when I get to Oxford. Love their fried catfish, shrimp, oysters, baked beans, hushpuppies, and cole slaw. The French bread on their poorboys is awesome, crunchy good!! You cannot leave without ordering their bread pudding. Take it home and finish it!!! Sometimes there is a line ordering, but it moves quickly. Their servers are always coming by getting refills, etc. and super friendly. Rudest waitress. She gave the ranch you have to pay for to another person at our table and never brought mine. The sandwich comes with gravy and she was horrible about me asking for it, walked off muttering and shaking her head. Reminds me of the cajun version of McAlister's - same basics of sandwiches and salads and spuds, with Beer, but the Jambalaya is REALLY good. Seafood gumbo is about a 3 out of 5.
