My boyfriend and I visited the Jailhouse Cafe at about 10 AM on a Saturday morning, and the hostess told us there was a 10-15 minute wait for a table. We figured that if there was a wait for breakfast, the joint had to be good. Unfortunately I wound up a little disappointed. The waitress was very nice, but seemed a bit overwhelmed. I had the Florentine Benedict, which was tasty, but nothing to write home about. The boyfriend had the Jailhouse Scramble, which again, he reported, nothing extraordinary. Neither of us had juice or coffee and drank only tap water, so footing a $26 bill.... All in all we felt it was mediocre food that we overpaid for. This is our favorite place for breakfast in Moab. Worth the wait if there is one. The bacon is thick and delicious, the pancakes are amazing too. I was surprised at the quality food in Moab and this place was definitely one of the best! Quaint place, great service, down to earth and really great, fresh food and tasty house coffee. I had the pesto omelet and well done English muffin. Excellent, fluffy, tasty omelet and believe it or not, a very non stale, and actually well done English muffin, just like I asked! It was as if the muffin was made fresh there! I eat out often and it amazes me how often I get cold, stale toast or English muffins, NOT well done, even though I ask. Great surprise for breakfast after a long day of riding. Had Swedish pancakes with bacon and both were excellent. Service was very good, staff was friendly and attentive. First time to Moab for a day at Arches National Park and decided to have breakfast here on the day I left. Ordered the Jailhouse Chorizo Scramble and it was excellent! Also ordered a Swedish pancake on the side with a topping of lingonberries which was very delicious! I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Moab. Came on a Sunday and was seated right away. Everyone was very friendly and I enjoyed eating in the covered area outside. They had heaters to keep everyone warm with just a bit of a breeze to keep it from getting too hot. read more

I ordered eggs Benedict and the eggs came hard boiled which is awful. I reordered and they were poorly cooked. Potatoes taste like they just came out of the refrigerator, so does the bacon. Absolutely loved this place. All breakfast menu and not too many choices which makes the food decision (for me) a whole lot simpler. I had the spinach, feta, mushroom omelette with a Swedish pancake, which is a true crepe, and endless delicious coffee. Ate breakfast here and we all just ordered sides. If you haven't figured it out yet portions in Moab are huge to accommodate the daily hiker. We hike but only a few hours. I had the sausage yum, Swedish pancake -very good & the ginger pancake - big and fluffy. It was very under cooked in middle. Our delightful server kindly brought me a new one free of charge (why thank you!). Still my sides were too much. Took home most of ginger pancake and one sausage patty. Came here for breakfast our last morning in Moab and I really wish we'd gone here the previous days as well. I had the skillet with a side of bacon and my Mom had the Eggs Florentine and we were both very happy with the meal. Even the toast was a nice thick cut wheat. The coffee is also great if you enjoy a nice dark Italian roast like I do. The staff was also friendly and attentive. The few things that might bring this place down from a 5 to a 4.5 are that their seating seems to be almost entirely outside and the only thing that saved us from a substantial wait was that we arrived right as they opened. We love this place! Not only do they have great food and service they are OPEN! Even on Sundays! It's amazing to me that other businesses have not drove by and seen the line at this place because no one else is open. We have decided that we are not even going to try to eat anywhere else. Great coffee! 2 of us split the bacon cheddar omelette which was loaded and good. Inside is a bit crowded, but friendly vibe.
