I do the responsible thing and CALL AHEAD like a civilized human being. "Do y'all have prime rib?" I ask. "Yes," they say--with confidence. With conviction. With what I can only assume was zero verification. So I drive my hungry, hopeful self all the way there, already tasting that juicy, perfect bite in my mind... only to be told: "Oops, no they told you wrong, we dont have prime rib " Oops? That's not a minor inconvenience. That's betrayal. That's psychological damage. That's me sitting there questioning my life choices while staring at a menu I no longer trust. No apology worth mentioning, no effort to make it right--just vibes and disappointment. If you're going to crush someone's dinner dreams, at least have the decency to do it over the phone so I can cry in my car at home instead of your parking lot. 10/10 for building anticipation. 0/10 for delivering anything resembling prime rib. Would I come back? Only if I'm emotionally stronger.

Tailgaters has been on the list for quite some time, finally made it out on a Friday for lunch. As…read moreother reviewer's have commented, it is off the beaten path for a bit (perfect for a BBQ food truck!), but essentially in the shadow of downtown Weatherford. As with any new BBQ place I try, I veer toward any menu option that allows me to try nearly all the meats and here, it was The Tailgater combo where you can choose 3 meats and 2 sides. On to the meats! The Brisket: we asked for cuts from the flat and the point and both were quite good. Moderate smokiness with heavy pepper rub and a light bark made this a solid brisket. The Ribs: similar to the brisket with the heavy pepper rub, also pretty delicious. I would rate this a bit higher than the brisket in terms of what they do best. Overall a solid rib - tasty and smoky, although just short of that perfect tenderness where you bite in and the meat doesn't fight you. The Sausage: the jalapeno-cheddar sausage was probably my favorite here. The casing had a nice pop to it once you bit in and you were greeted with a mild jalapeno heat and an amazing cheesy flavor that may make this one of my favorite links in the area. Very few places get the combination of flavor and heat right on the JC sausages and Tailgaters has done that here. One note - they do have a covered seating area, but many people were getting take out. All in all, some great BBQ here and I was quite happy we made it out to try out such a cool local spot like Tailgaters. We plan to visit again to try out more of their tasty smoked meats and you should as well.

I stopped in on a Friday with a buddy and it is truly no frills but had a decent amount in of activity given its location. We ordered the tailgater which is a 3 meat, 2 sides combo and went with brisket (lean and moist), ribs, and jalapeno sausage for the meats and street corn and mac n cheese for the sides. Brisket had a decent bark and was flavorful, and the ribs had a nice rub on them and were flavorful as well but were not the fall off the bone tender I expect from Texas bbq joints. Decent ribs, but nothing special. Jalapeño sausage was good, not too overpowering with the jalapeno flavor so this one is a must try. The Mac n cheese is pretty standard, nice and creamy, it's a good side. I wasn't wild about the street corn, so would opt for a different side next time.

My taco had brisket which I wasn't that impressed with. (Note- I am a foodie & live close to several Texas Monthly ranked BBQ joints in Houston.) We have a long drive ahead, but were almost disappointed that we were too early for the extensive lunch menu.We really appreciated the kind young woman at the register. She made our stop 5 star.Unfortunately she is headed back to college on Monday. She shared that the owners are fairly new & also own Polo's Mexican Restaurant in Weatherford. We definitely will make Outlaw a breakfast stop on our drive west in the future. I will get a more traditional taco with eggs next time. I will also ask for an extra salsa verde! Perhaps one day we can make hours for Mexican food!

The food was good sometimes, other times not, and the serving container got smaller and the price went up a little. So the consistency was no longer there. However, the staff is friendly, we met the owners and they're nice people, and when the food is good, it's really good, so we've continued to go there. When Heim's opened across the street back in November, we figured BR would really lean into the challenge and become competitive in order to keep their current customers and gain new ones, things like sprucing up the menu at the drive-thru speaker, maybe lowering prices a bit or even better, including a soda or tea with the meals at no extra cost. But no, they didn't seem to do anything to try and compete with Heim's. Btw, we've heard Heim's is not nearly as good as they used to be when they first started and are very expensive, so we've not even tried it yet, and we were being loyal to Bakers Ribs. We've been there a few times in the past month, mostly during lunch hour and there were hardly any cars there ... the lot should have been full at that time of the day. It was surprising and we wondered why there weren't more customers there. Anyway, for the most part, our orders were good, but we still don't like the smaller containers and the fact that drinks aren't included. The point of writing this review is to suggest to the owners that they step up their game a little bit and make it seem like you want to grow the business ... offer some enticements on the meals and the pricing, use the bigger Styrofoam containers again, update your menu screen at the drive-thru to make it look friendly and inviting, and maybe start putting some catchy signs out front on the display to get people's attention. We'll continue to patronize BR and we hope this review is of some help.

The kolaches are fresh, delicious and some of the best we have ever eaten. They have a nice large parking area. You walk inside are greeted by a smiling employee. We ordered, ate and talked to several people that work and run this great Barbecue place. While waiting to order BBQ one of the employees was walking around giving out a few free breakfast tacos! Wow, what a treat. When we finally ordered our food we got food to eat there and food to bring back home. Let me just say that is the sign of great BBQ if it's good on site to eat and good when you warm it up at home. Dayne's BBQ was and is some of the best we have had yet.
