I have extremely frizzy coarse thick wavy hair and it's resistant to soooo many treatments.. but it is like night and day since I've gotten the Brazilian Blowout at Jae D's salon! For the first time in my life I can leave the house after just showering without having to apply any heat! She works wonders and always is so quick to fit me into her schedule! I too went to Jae D's after a Groupon, but mine was for a Brazilian Blowout (who in their right minds named this!). I showed up promptly at 9:30 for my appointment, the hours listed on the door stated that they opened at 9am but no one was anywhere to be seen. I signed my name in and sat down, a few minutes later a young man, wearing more makeup that I was, came up and offered me something to drink and said my stylist would be with me in a moment. 9:52 my stylist walked in the door and took me back. So first impressions were shot. She was late. Did apologize, but 22 minutes!, the salon is next door to a Harbor Freight Store. I liked what she did and she was very detailed in explaining the process, steps, etc. She also trimmed up my cut, which I sort of expected. What I did not expect was the relentless upselling of products and constant questions about my personal life. I know some people view their hair stylist as a therapist, but I just met this lady. I was a bit uncomfortable. Similar to Julia's review, it wasn't bad but it wasn't good. That being said, my hair looks great (no frizz at all!) and it's the best price I can find. read more

I went here after purchasing a Groupon for a 1 hour facial, 30 min massage, pedicure and manicure. I was not impressed and I will probably not be going back. It wasn't terrible or anything, it just wasn't great. The massage was fine. No real complaints, but it's not like it blew me away or anything. The facial was just weird. Now, this was my first experience getting a facial, so maybe I just didn't know what to expect, but I thought it was really unprofessional. The person doing it just walked in and asked me what kind of skin I had. I thought maybe they would take a look at my skin and actually be able to decide that sort of information on their own. Then I lay down on the table and he just started rubbing different things on my face. After whatever cream/lotion/solution was applied, he then took a kleenex, tore a hole in the middle for my nose and then put it on my face. Every now and then he would walk out of the room and leave it there for about 15 minutes. I thought it was very strange that he NEVER told me at all what he was putting on my face or what it was doing for my face. I also thought it was very cheap and tacky to be using kleenex as a part of the facial. I was very disappointed in this and probably could have done a just as good, if not better, facial on my own at home using a mask and moisturizer. At least I would know what was going on my face! At the end of the facial, my technician asked me if I remembered his name and gave me trouble for forgetting it...so awkward. The mani and pedi were ok. I was really disappointed in the selection of polishes they had to choose from. There were neon pinks and yellows, dark magentas and reds, and then a few pinks.....and that was it. Luckily I was able to find something I could live with. I have to say the mani and pedi both lasted for a really long time afterward, so that was a plus. But the person who did my mani/pedi was the same person that did my facial, and again I had an awkward experience. He kept telling me how he put lotion on my hands to make them soft and cut my cuticle to make it clean. Ok, I know that. That is common sense. That is why I get manicures and pedicures..... I just thought it was really uncomfortable and weird. read more

I started going for the inexpensive brazilian blowouts. I stopped going because the salon experience was terrible. The salon is dirty with a whole day's worth of hair clippings on the floor. The stylist smells like cigarettes. She told me cost of service went up after my head was already in the shampooing sink. She double books customers. I went back to curly hair because I couldn't be bothered to go back here. read more

My first visit to this salon, and first time to try the Brazilian Blowout. First impression is that it is a quaint and very personal salon. It was just myself, and Jae during my appt. Her next appt showed up near the end of my visit. I liked the personal attention. She even made a fresh pot of coffee for me. She gives great instruction and information about what she is doing and how it compares to other options for keratin treatment out there. I looked these up via google afterwards and see she was right! I am very happy with my treatment. It's been one month so far, and I wanted to wait to review it until I see how it stood the test of time. My hair feels healthier, stronger, frizz is gone, and super easy to blow dry. Not stick straight, and still takes a wave when I ponytail, but easy to dry and iron. Will I make another appointment? Yes, indeed. Great price, too. I felt no pressure to purchase products. The hair mask was recommended for long term use, but I bought it as well as the shampoo and conditioner which all work well together and have given me the results I am happy with. read more

When I saw that Brazilian Blowouts here were $100 I thought it was too good to be true... and trust me folks... it is. I have had this procedure done multiple times (for about $350) at other salons- let me tell ya, they did not follow the procedure properly. First of all, the salon is in a medical building and feels awkward trying to find the hair dressers. Secondly, the Brazilian blowout only took a little over an hour, when it should take 2-3. Thirdly, my Brazilian blowout only lasted ONE WEEK! ONE WEEK!!!! Normal procedures should last 3-4 months. One week is appalling!!! I use proper shampoo and conditioner (Pureology) and received the treatment is December, so humidity was not a factor. Do not go here people, you get the lowest standards of product and, even at bargain prices, are overpaying for the service. read more

I went there for a keratin treatment. Jae was very organized though she was the only one running the salon. She was very friendly and did the keratin treatment well. I'm very happy with my hair and received many complements. Of note, the GK treatment used there is best when you roughly blow dry for a few minutes than air dry. I found Jae D's by purchasing a living social coupon for a Brazilian blowout. Jae has moved to a new, very nice, smaller location. I had never been to the other location, but I lread some negative comments on here about her PAST staff, there. She was very friendly and personable and took a long time talking with me and explaining the process. My hair turned out fabulous and the price was excellent!! I had even mentioned I was interested in highlights and she have me a $25 gift card for when I come back! The after care products were pretty expensive, but you can only buy them from a salon, not a beauty supply store or Ulta (I checked), but to extend the life of your blowout the price is worth it. Definitely give Jae D's Salon a try. I will absolutely be going back. read more

Don't go there unless you want to be extorted. I told Jai I had a groupon so she knew full well that I'd be using it. Midway through my appt she asked me for the groupon code. THEN when I was leaving she said "there's an extra $39 charge for long hair" Really? She couldn't have told me this when I walked in? What about when she asked me for the Groupon code? Seems like extortion to me. Very upsetting. Additionally, she's very rough when blowdrying or straightening hair - I feel like my head got bruised from how rough she was. Plus, she made me wait 45 minutes for my appt. She's not that busy that I should've had to wait. Never again. The price is cheap for keratin but who wants to put up with extortion? waiting 45 minutes? rough handling? Plus, the place is in a building basement - dirty and outdated. I've been to Jae D's twice now after buying the Brazilian Blowout groupon. It works great on my hair and Jae is super friendly. The treatment takes a few hours, but Jae is easy to talk to and explains what she's doing too. Be prepared that the recommended products to keep up the Brazilian Blowout run pretty expensive, around $100 for the whole set, but I can tell my hair straightens easier and is less frizzy when I use them. read more
