New to the neighborhood. Saw the reviews and thought I would give it a try. I was charged between 80 and 90 bucks. No color, no wash or blow dry and no style of any kind. I felt bad for the lady who cut my hair at Grace Taylor. The reason is because when I checked in, she said "how did you get to sneak in a hair cut?,I was suppose to have a hair color with someone walking the red carpet, I was suppose to correct the hair color from a previous hair stylist." Don't know why she was surprised and disgruntled about it, this was a scheduled appointment well in advance. Then when I asked for a basic shoulder length angled bob, it was like I was asking for the impossible. It was like she was new to cutting this style haircut. I would expect the hesitation and perplexed looks of cutting medium to long uniformed length, no layered hair into a shoulder length angled bob from a student in cosmotology school. Not from someone with great reviews and supposed experience. Careful, confident, knowledgeable and precise is something the person cutting your hair should possess. Not hesitation and comments like the ones I received such as, "I don't know, your hair is naturally a little wavy..." Followed up with looks and body language that communicated, "I am not sure how I am going to cut this, what am I going to do" Definitely not a place you want to get a relaxing spa like top of the line haircut treatment/service. My hair is a little naturally wavy, yes, and one length. How difficult is this angled shoulder length bob haircut really for a certified professional? Perhaps if you need someone to "color correct" your hair last minute, then this might be your place. Definitely not for men either. There was a friendly man that entered asking if the place does men's hair cuts. She looked at him shocked and startled that he would even enter and ask such a question. She coldly and bluntly said no. I thought that was odd, and thought to myself, what kind of place is this? The guy was of no threat and something is really off here. That guy was not asking for a haircut at that moment. The on guard defensive cold response to a potential client walking in the door and awful hair cut service really sealed the deal to never go back there. Everyone has bad days but between the mold smelly seating and dustiness of the place and the questionable pricing and service. Did I mention there was no styling, no blow dry, no product, not even a hair wash. I wondered if she was really counting on the price point for a "color correcting job" because a plain Jane haircut without any additional services certainly should not cost that much. Who know's what happened to the MIA "color correction" client that night. It is also non of my business about clients that cancel services with Grace Taylor. Why she felt the need to tell me about this, is beyond me. At that time, I did not dispute or provide disgruntled comments. I thought to myself, most places are struggling these days. Therefore the charge for subpar lack of hair treatment service, I just considered my payment a decent non tax deductible donation, you know considering. This place could be way better even on a bad day. read more
