I wish I could leave a review based on the services received, but I didn't get any because I didn't want to wear a mask in a county where masks aren't required and we're not dropping like flies from this stale, 2 year old worn out fiasco. The sign on the door says, "please wear a mask". Not masks required. As I went to check in for my massage appointment, the girl at the desk handed me one to put on. I said, "Why are we wearing these?" She said, "unfortunately we're requiring them". So I left. Ridiculous to lose business over virtue signaling but whatever. I've been going to Celestlie'e for years, but recently have had an exceedingly unpleasant experience. I am transgender and thus showed the stylist a picture of a shaggy MEN'S cut. Without asking me, the stylist decided instead to give me a bob with the most ugly, un-blended layers imaginable. Not only am I out 35 dollars, an hour of my life, and the resources I will inevitably need to fix this mess, but also it is predictably very upsetting to me that I look like a coked-up long island medium. I got 200 gift card for xmas 2019. So I totally understand we're all doing the best we can. My mother in law who got me the gift cards for me had a 200 gift card for herself as well originally we planned on doing a spa day with massages facials mani pedi the works. So covid happened and their aesthetician is no longer there. They have 1 masseuse and 1 person who does nails. There is no way you can do any kind of girls day. My mother in law wanted her money back for her card, since the whole reason she got the card wasn't going to happen and she really wanted facials the most but it was promptly denied.I went ahead and got massages with mine. My mother in law finally gave in and just bought 200 worth of products the products are absurd. NOTHING has a price. You have to ask the desk to price check everything. The girl behind the counter was watching me like a hawk like I was going to steal I guess. I won't be back. The masseuse is the nicest girl but they didn't offer the special shower or any of the usual perks you get with a massage. They didn't give me a discount. Celeslie's Salon and Spa is wonderful. From the moment you walk in, EVERYONE is friendly, warm and welcoming. No attitudes. No snobbishness. The salon is stylish, current, with a fireplace to sit around. Very comfortable. Jaime was my stylist. I cannot recommend her highly enough. I had been ill, had lots of grey hair and my hair was several colors. My cut and bangs were totally grown out. She was sweet, patient, listened, and looked at pictures I'd brought of my hair the way I used to wear it. She took her time, asked lots of questions, went over samples and made suggestions. My bangs were perfect. My cut was great, the all over color turned out as she had described. She also styled it exactly as I'd asked. Big hugs all around. Lindsey is the esthetician. Very very nice and informative. Took her time as well. She waxed my upper lip and chin well. I have dry sensitive skin. No irritation or redness. Looking forward to going back for a facial. Loved this place. Well worth the drive. Coco's Coffee is located inside the salon and spa, and they serve Kaldi's coffee so that's a huge plus. read more

I am only giving Celeslie's two stars instead of one because once upon a time I did receive good service here. My last visit before my wedding was awful and I will never set foot in there again. I have a GREAT hair stylist which first took care of me at Celeslie's going on three years ago. I was new in town and asked someone I saw with AWESOME hair where she went. She said Celeslie's and gave me the name of her hair dresser. I had nothing but great experiences when I went there to have my hair done by her. However, I received a gift card for Christmas in 2008. I wasn't getting my hair done there any more so I saved it to get my nails done before my wedding in July of 2009. The girl that did my nails was very nice, but did a horrible job. There was also another appointment booked too close to mine so she seemed to be rushing as not to let the next lady wait very long. I got a french manicure and paid more than my gift card was worth for it. By the time my matron of honor took me back to the parking lot we could tell my nails were bubbly. She thought it would dry and that she would be able to fix them if need be. A few hours later I had to go get my final dress fitting. As it turned out, my nails were STILL not dry and a couple of them got messed up while I was getting into my dress. I called them as soon as I got in the car and headed out there to have them fixed. Again, she rushed and put too many layers of nail polish on without waiting for them to dry in between. She left it to me to put a top coat on at home. The awful part is that she said SHE was getting married soon as well. You would think she would have had more understanding as to how important a bride's nails are on her wedding day. HOURS later I went to bed and woke up with my nails in really bad shape because they were STILL way too wet. I tried to put on a top coat, but they were just a huge mess. My ring bearer could have done a better job! I was extremely stressed out from wedding details as it was and this made me even more upset. My matron of honor took me to a nail salon to get them redone prior to my bridal luncheon and they came out GREAT. So like I said, my last visit was in July 2009 so things may be better there now, maybe worse. Who knows. I sent a letter to the manager/owner after all the wedding chaos had simmered down and never heard a word back. If you went here for a hair cut I would say you have a good chance at receiving a good one depending on who works there now. If you need your nails done though, do NOT go here. Go to a nail salon! Celeslie's also has very nice contemporary decor that I found to be great, but it was all just smoke and mirrors in the end. They also have a lot more overhead to pay than their smaller competitors, I am sure. read more

A truly luxurious, full service Aveda salon in the most unlikely of places! I've been a client at Celeslie's for several years now. I've tried the high-end salons in Clayton, Creve Coeur, Town and Country and Frontenac. Celeslie's can rival any of them. I've had several stylists color and/or cut my hair over the years, but Jamie is my favorite! She really listens to me, never pushes anything on me and seems to intuitively know when to encourage me to try something new and when to leave me be in my comfort zone. I've come to trust her without question and for me, that's priceless. Additionally, I really like Jen for dying my eye lashes, facials and microderms. I also had my first massage here! For me, this was a BIG deal. I was never comfortable with the idea of a massage, but I finally gave in and now I'm hooked! So much so, that for our first wedding anniversary, I booked a Couples' Massage for my husband and me. It was awesome! We arrived, were taken to the spa area, had some wine, changed in to lovely, soft robes and sat in the dry sauna for a bit. Then we headed to a quiet, dimly lit room with soft music for an hour of heaven. My husband even fell asleep during his! Afterward, we had private time in the rain forest shower. It was a wonderful afternoon and we will definitely do it again. Lastly, I want to comment on Jamie's skill and knowledge. I have a medical condition that has caused my hair to thin and for the texture to change. She has guided me through the maze of products to find the perfect Aveda ones for me. My hair is regrowing and has regained its soft feel and is stronger and healthier than it's been in years. The transformation is hard to believe! She also gave me a lot of guidance on how to communicate what I wanted with the stylists at the resort where we were married. I was worried they would overdo my make-up and hair and she walked me through what I wanted and instructed me on how to communicate it with them. It worked our perfectly! The next best thing to having Jamie do it herself. I'm a total fan of Jamie's and Celeslie's. I will continue to go there for all of my salon needs. read more

I'll explain why I am giving this rating. When I first called to schedule my appointments, I was put on hold for over 10 minutes. I hung up and called back. The woman answered and when I told her I had been holding forever she told me that unfortunately she was going to need to place me on hold again. I hung up as I was walking into another appointment and called back later. Finally I was able to schedule my services. I scheduled a spa day for me and a friend. $400 worth of services, mind you. We were very excited to have a spa day together because we work hard. I was called the day before to confirm my appointment for noon and my friends appointment for 1245. I immediately said no, that's not correct. We even waited an extra week to make sure we had the same appointment time. She told me that it's not possible for us to do the massages or facials at the same time and that someone should have told me that when I booked it. Uh yeah- they should have since I was quite clear on what I wanted. Whatever, I told my friend and we were still looking forward to our spa day. We go there yesterday and fill out the forms and then we're escorted to the back where the spa is. The receptionist apologizes as we walk back a part of the salon that's under construction and tells us they're putting in a juice bar. Then as we enter the spa, she tells us the spa is also currently under construction. Um what?! I'm spending $400 and you didn't think that maybe I'd want to know that when I booked my appointment?? I expected a high end feel to match the services I was getting and the price I was paying. Instead I walked into a spa with NO FLOORING, Extension cords everywhere, outlet covers missing, unpainted walls, and a NAIL ON THE FLOOR. I am beyond disappointed in this experience. Both my friend and I agree, the services that we got were phenomenal thanks to Laura and Jennifer. They are the only thing that saved this trip. Especially since when we were sent to the relaxation room the receptionist asked us if we would like a glass of wine. We both said yes. Guess what never came?! I got my wine 45 minutes later because my wonderful massage therapist got it for me. Shame on the owner and receptionists for not letting their customers know that your salon experience will feel like something you bought on groupon for a fraction of the price. I can only assume this is their normal business practice since as we were being checked in another customer was having an issue with appointments she made as well. This salon is beautiful and I'm sure the spa will be too, once complete. It's too bad the front of house service is so awful. I came in for a cut and color on Monday 2/8/2016. The stylist I had been seeing for several years had moved on from this salon so I was set up with someone "equally as qualified". The stylist and I spoke about what I pictured and I showed several pictures for the cut and color inspiration. My hair was mostly blonde except for the roots and I showed how I wanted to return to my natural color but keep several of the lighter tones. We also discussed the cut I showed her on my body where I wanted my hair to fall to when the cut and style was complete. The stylist asked me if I wanted the length of her hair and I said no and once again pointed to where I wanted my hair to hit. The stylist's hair came much further than I wanted so I also told her I wanted my hair a bit shorter than hers. I had an evening appointment on a Monday so the salon was dead. The stylist started out doing a full color on my hair, which I understood because I wanted to change the complete undertone of my color. The stylist cut off some of the length of my hair before the color, which also did not seem unusual to me. For the rest of my stint at this salon I was faced away from the mirror, I saw glimpses of the color but not much else. When she was done I was not overall very happy with it, my hair was all one color and not at all what I pictured. I decided since I was the last client in the salon and it had been snowing I was to go home and further investigate. Some important factors that will be needed later are that I also bought a bottle of conditioner. This is important because I was later criticized for this purchase, I only bought the conditioner because I had a rewards card that was full and was receiving a dollar amount off of it. After arriving home I attempted to style my hair in different ways and realized that I was not happy with it. I tried to call the salon but I am assuming they were closed by this point considering the snow and I was the last client. Tuesday the salon is closed but I attempted to call anyways hoping maybe someone was in. Wednesday morning I called first thing when they opened. The receptionist answered and I explained my story and that I wished to have a refund on the services. The receptionist told me she was unable to refund me but a manager would return my call later that day. As Wednesday went on I never received a call so 2 hours before close I called again, once again I was told a manager would call me back that evening. Thursday morning I finally receive a phone call from the manager Jamie, I explain what happened and how I am not pleased with my cut nor color. She offers for me to come in and get the color fixed (add the highlights that were forgotten) and to cut my hair again. I decline the offer as I am already in route to another salon for the color to be repaired. I also question that if my hair is already cut extremely too short why would I want any more cut off. Jamie during this call is extremely rude and unprofessional arguing that they stand behind their work and never issue a refund. She also explains to me that since I was not visibly upset during my visit they will not refund my services. She adds that I must have been happy since I paid and bought the conditioner. Thursday at the second salon I had highlights added and my hair ended up being cut again because the first cut happened to be extremely uneven. Jamie wanted me to come into the salon so they could see where the style went wrong. I declined as I was in route to have my hair fixed, I did however message photos of the inspiration and outcome of my hair to which I never received a response. If you asked me about this salon before 2/8/2016 I would have had nothing but great things to say. After this horrific appointment and dealing with the manager Jamie I would not recommend anyone to this salon. Jamie has been extremely unprofessional and I gave the salon several chances to mend this, the never once responded so here I am typing a 1000 word review. It seems to me that if I had thrown a temper tantrum in the salon I would have received a refund, being an adult I thought that would have been highly inappropriate. The cut and color cost me a total of $110, to a salon that you cant walk out of with out spending $100-$200 in you would think refunding the money would have been a much easier route that months of arguing how I was not visibly upset so I am not entitled to refund. This salon and Jamie have caused me months of stress; I have not taken my hair out of a ponytail for close to 2 months now. A salon I once used to adore spending time at has tainted my opinion forever. I have never in my life experienced someone in a managerial position so harsh, downright rude that forced me into tears on several occasions. If you made it through this review my only wish is that you take your business elsewhere and monitor each cut your stylist takes of your precious locks. read more

I treated my special lady and her daughter to a Spa/Salon day for Valentines Day. I searched around the Arnold/Imperial area and actually called 2 other places; both of which didn't have a person that did facials, massage or nails. The second one I called actually referred me to Celeslies. Boy am I glad they referred me. Annette took my call and was wonderfully polite and accomodating. I didn't know what I wanted and she was patient and took the time to educate me on what there was to offer. When I got there, the atmosphere was completely amazing. They were happy to see a guy treating his lady and daughter to a day of beauty and they scheduled everything perfectly. They quickly wisked the girls away to their appointments. The prices were shockingly affordable and I totally expected to pay twice as much. My lady had a facial, manicure, pedicure, shampoo, cut, style and if we would have had more time, we would have both gotten massages. Susan, the owner, was unbelievably hospitable and made me feel very comfortable. Jen, Jennifer and Ashley did an amazing job and were the nicest people to visit with while they performed their art. I wholeheartedly recommend this Salon/Spa to anyone wanting to be pampered and treated like royalty. The fireplace was a wonderful touch. No one was precotious, snobby or otherwise rude. The complementary champagne and chocolate strawberries were an excellent snack while waiting for my Beauty Pagent Candidate to emerge. You should have seen her.. I just had a salt glow treatment and massage by Heather. It was wonderful. Two hours of ultimate relaxation. I would recommend this to anyone. It starts with a warm water exfoliation interwoven with massage, followed with massage with warm water and body wash then oils. All of this was followed by a 45 minute massage. The only bad. The prices here are very extensive compared to other places. I received a gift certificate for a a special occasion and was told everything was included. The price for the services and gratuity was added so for my birthday it was all taken care of. This was explained to the purchaser and he paid extra when purchasing to specifically make sure I didn't have to pay a penny on the way out. Once I received my services, they asked if I want to include a tip. I told them we were told the money for the tip was already rounded in the certificate (the whole point of a gift) and she said no. I went home and explained what happened and he wrote down exactly what was said for pricing and tip rounded in. What they charged me did not match what they originally priced him and what he lid for. Not to mention they wouldn't do gel on my toes and the women also made a insulting comment because I requested my cuticles to be removed and she stated "oh that's an Asian thing". The price paid is not worth it at all for manicure or pedicure. Save yourself the trouble and money and go to an "Asian" salon where they will make your nails look perfect and charge you 30% less. I hate to say it but these "American" salons want to take you for all your worth, simply because it's an "American" salon. Quality work should be included in their services and it just isn't. I will say I received and massage here once and it was good. But I would never buy any additional services there again. Something to note is look at the review ratings on Yelp. Company's cannot deleted the ratings but on Google/Facebook they can choose which they keep. My husband bought me a gift card for my birthday in August of 2012. When he purchased it, he did it online and the website stated that the card would be mailed the next business day. Two weeks went by and he still had not received it so he went to the salon with his email confirmation and a copy of our account statement with the $100 charge on it. They issued him a card in the store. Because I do not use Celeslie's for my hair care needs, I decided to use their spa services. So in May 2013 I made an appointment for the revitalization package, which consists of a 30 min. massage, a manicure, and a pedicure. When I arrived a woman brought me back to the spa area, I changed into a nice fluffy robe and went in for my massage. It was a nice relaxing massage and the lady was nice. When I was finished she instructed me to change and wait in the room with the sauna for my nail technician to come get me. I changed and sat down in that room at 11:50 am. At about 12:25 I ventured out to see what the wait was about and found everybody to be running around busy with other customers. So I figured that it was like being at the doctor's office and I just went back to my waiting room to sit again. I was back there until 12:45 before a woman came in and asked if I had already had my massage. I said yes and that I had been back there waiting for my manicure and pedicure for over 45 minutes. She said she would check to see what happened. She came back and stated that when they scheduled my "package" that they put a 30 minute gap between the massage and the manicure and that technically my manicure wasn't scheduled until 12:30 (at this point it was already 12:50). She said they were really busy with a large wedding party that just came in and that it would be another 5-10 minutes. So after an hour of waiting, someone finally came and got me to do my nails. She sat me down in the pedicure chair and stated that she would do my manicure first. Confused, I noticed her putting a pillow with a towel wrapped over it on my lap. She proceeded to do my manicure on my lap instead of at a manicure table. The paint job was ok, but definitely could have been better. Then she did my pedicure, which was good. Overall, my experience with Celeslie's was not up to my standards, which I did not think were terribly high. I would probably go back for a massage, but I would go to an actual nail salon and get my manicures and pedicures from now on. Because the girls were nice that did my services, I did tip them even though I felt the wait was unacceptable and the manicure needed help. read more

I went in for a hair cut, was told basically that my color was a big ol' mess. I asked what I was looking at price wise, because I had really only budgeted for a cut. She quoted me a price and really worked on me that I needed the color. So I decided to go ahead and do the color. I told her exactly what I wanted...I wanted to go a bit darker, and even paid extra to be able to go darker and not just get a bleach highlight. When it was all over (three hours - when I really only thought I'd be there for about 30 minutes) there was no sign of the darker color that I paid extra for. In addition, she "styled" my hair - without asking me if I wanted her to. Then when I went to pay, I paid extra for the style and a salon fee. I was in a hurry, so didn't really pay attention to the total - just signed the receipt and left. I called back to discuss the problem with how much I was charged. The receptionist said she would discuss it with the manager. The next day, the stylist called and left a message that I was over charged for the salon fee, but didn't mention the extra for the "style". I still have not seen a credit on my credit card AND the manager has never called back to discuss this. read more
