We personally liked the plain unglazed donuts. As they were crispy and delicious but not too greasy. They can add chocolate, cinnamon and sugar or powdered sugar on the donuts. I ordered a black coffee both times and the coffee is very smooth. I don't know if they make other coffee drinks, but they were only doing drip coffee at this time, which was fine by me. Currently due to Covid they are only doing drive up or you can walk up and they'll take your order as well. The staff are really friendly and super helpful. Check them out if you are nearby it's a treat.

I gathered up my courage and stood in line. People were friendly, checking out the scenery -- it's beautiful nature in this valley. Went in asked for coffee, and they put something together from my choppy suggestions. I mean, i pour coffee in a mug, i add a dash of milk and throw in a bit of splenda. I could tell they would serve me a treat. I ordered some fresh doughnuts for the kids, and a beignet type bready doughnut for me. Paid, reasonable charge. Made my way to the vehicle to take my booty (the doughnuts .... people) but wished I could'a sat there in the parking lot and sipped the coffee and nibbled on the beignet while staring over at the mountaintops. Little sampling of what we ordered -- lobster stew (I literally reached in and got an entire claw for the first bite), trout amandine (gorgeous meaty double fillet), braised beef, ribeye steak with crispy onion topper -- all entrees served with plenty of vegetable and potato side. Plenty early enough for us to still get on the road early for a leisurely drive through the Grand Teton in the morning. Our room was nice. Since we are elderly and our room was on the second floor (no elevator) , it was very convenient to have a room close to the stairs. We were amazed that there were no USB ports at all in our room. Who doesn't provide USB ports? The front desk staff were very helpful in providing information on nearby businesses where we could buy USB charging ports for our iPhone charging cables and our portable batteries. We enjoyed all the other amenities in our room. We loved the facilities themselves. The restaurant was outstanding! We were greeted enthusiastically as soon as we crossed the threshold. Our server, Jamie, was superb in every way--her demeanor, her knowledge of the food items, her interest in the fact that this is our "Birthday Road Trip" and her quality service. We are so glad Jamie raved about the Huckleberry lemonade and encouraged us to try it. That lemonade was delicious! The food was outstanding ! The portions were so large, as much as we hated to, we couldn't finish those huge steaks or all of the corn appetizer. The garlic mashed potatoes and garlic beans were delicious. What was especially beautiful about the beans is that they were cooked just right. Jamie served us bread with what she explained is their signature whipped mascarpone cream with honey . It was so very good. We loved being in the restaurant and lingered after our dinner. We loved the ambiance, the service (Jamie helped us celebrate our birthdays), the music playing in the background, the room temperature and the fire burning in the fireplace. There was only one larger party of eight; the rest of the tables were small groups, so nothing suggested the kitchen was overwhelmed. We were seated at 6:10 p.m., ordered drinks, and placed our dinner order shortly afterward. Then...nothing. We waited so long that we ordered a second round of drinks, assuming our food would be arriving any minute. After finishing those drinks, we finally asked about our order around 7:30 p.m.--more than an hour after ordering. The response from the other server was disappointing. Without any real apology or concern, we were simply told it would be another 10-15 minutes because they "had lots of to-go orders." If the kitchen was prioritizing takeout over guests who had been sitting in the dining room for well over an hour, that should have been communicated from the beginning. Then 10 minutes later, to make matters worse, the other server to whom we inquired --not even ours--brought peppermints to the table to "help with our hunger." Whether it was intended as humor or not, it came across as incredibly insensitive given we'd been waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes. At that point, we asked for our bill for the drinks and decided to leave. Unsurprisingly, our food appeared almost immediately after we asked for the check. By then, the experience had completely ruined our appetite. Our actual server did apologize, and I appreciated that, but it was simply too late to salvage the evening. I've eaten at countless restaurants over the years, and I have never experienced anything quite like this. There seems to be a lot of creativity and personality behind the menu. The sauce served with our Reuben was especially good. It reminded me of a cross between Thousand Island and a Big Mac-style sauce, but with its own flavor. Whatever it was, it was top-notch and went perfectly with the sandwich. The atmosphere is definitely that of a true bar/pub. We aren't drinkers, and alcohol is obviously a major focus here, from the decor to the overall feel of the restaurant. If you're not a drinker, you may feel a little out of place in the main bar area, so that is something to know going in. That being said, they do have a separate side dining room away from the main bar area, as well as a patio that looked like it would be a wonderful place to sit, eat, and enjoy the beautiful Wyoming scenery. The building itself is definitely older and a little worn down. It appeared clean on the surface, but you can tell the restaurant has seen a lot of use over the years and could probably benefit from some updating and a little extra attention in certain areas. At the same time, the rustic, well-used feel does fit the personality of a longtime local pub. Our one meal came to $25.68, so it is certainly on the pricier side for a sandwich and fries. However, this is Jackson Hole, and higher prices are somewhat expected in a tourist town. Considering how large the portions were, the price was a little easier to justify. Overall, The Bird is a fun, quirky, very casual place with huge portions and some surprisingly creative food. The pastrami Reuben was delicious, the sauce was fantastic, and I would definitely order it again.
