Decent for Mexican food in Wyoming. It wasn't bad but it definitely wasn't like, "Wow! This is the best." Being from SoCal, it's honestly hard to compare Mexican food in other places--nothing is ever as flavorful or as fresh. I got the combination platter with picadillo (shredded beef) enchilada, pork tamal, and chile relleno. It also came with rice and beans. Like I said, it was decent. My husband got the pork chile verde. Normally we're used to shredded pork in chile verde but this was more like a pork chop cut up into bite size chunks. He wasn't totally stoked on the sauce and felt it lacked flavor and needed a lot of salt. Service was also just average. The waitress wasn't really friendly but she wasn't NOT friendly either...she was kind of just going through the motions to push people in and out, and get through the day. Excellent Mexican food for out in the middle of nowhere Wyoming. Actually afton is an adorable town. The food was pretty darn good. The tamale was moist and tender. The two shrimp dishes that I've had were stupendous! The chimichanga was amazing! I love the decor on the walls. Dinner review of 9 of us on a busy Friday night. Nice free salsa, non greasy chips and a type of tasty coleslaw. This may be one of small rural Afton's better restaurants however we found it to offer average bland Americanized Mexican food. Large selection of food choices. I ordered a margarita on the rocks with salt on the rim and that's what I reveived however the margarita was filled completely to the top of the glass (overflowing) which made the salt drown into my drink and so no more salt on the rim but rather into my drink and it wrecked my margarita. Our server cared however appeared overwhelmed and not too knowledgable about products or policies. The caring manager or owner came over a few times to help her. The bill was hand written and was three pages long and we couldn't really see if there were any errors. Overall not bad but not great. They don't take American Express. read more

Everytime we go to Agaves we leave stuffed, satisfied, and happy. This is the best Mexican food restaurant in Star Valley hands down. Here is why: We are always seated promptly by a friendly staff member. The chips are tasty, but the salsa and cabbage slaw are what puts it over the top. We like to mix the two salsa and slaw together into one bowl and it is perfection. It's usually busy so it may take a few minutes to get our order taken, but the food is worth the wait. I always get the Colorado burrito. It is quite large with big chunks of beef, in this delicious red sauce with rice and beans. It's more than enough food for one person to eat. Hubby loves the Chipotle burrito with chicken. The sauce on this burrito is creamy and smoky. Unlike any other sauce we've had. My daughter gets the chicken quesadilla which is also delicious. Moist chicken, lots of cheese, with guac and sour cream and a big portion she can never finish it all. Lastly the restaurant is clean. They do a great job of keeping the place tidy, even the bathroom. The prices are good, food is excellent, service is great, what more can you ask for. Get yourself over to Agave. read more
