I've been going to the veterinarian office next door to this restaurant for more than 25 years. I don't know why I never ventured inside Jade Palace to order, but decided to today, after having a noon hour appointment at the vets. I decided on the tomato beef chow mein because it's a dish where you can foresee the caliber of their Chinese food if they make this right! Their tomato beef chow mein was really good! The balance of flavors was done just right, so it wasn't too salty. The green peppers still had a good crunch, and the tomatoes weren't overcooked! There was plenty of beef in the container too! The box was filled to the brim and although I thought the price was kinda high for a strictly take-out/delivery place, I think it's worth the money! I'm glad that they have installed security measures in there! It was like a bank with counter to ceiling bullet-proof glass! I also like that they gave me a pager to let me know when my food was ready. These extra measures probably help to justify their food pricing. I'll have to try their other dishes. Cute spot with a nice mom & pop vibe, with straight forward service at the counter. The menu is MASSIVE and a little overwhelming but I went with Salt/Pepper fried ribs and prawn chow mien. I ordered the salt n pepper chicken it was mostly dough and it was a lot little nuggets in there no real nice sized pieces of chicken. The dumplings were on a prepackaged pre sealed microwaved tray you could buy from the frozen food section at a grocery store. The noodles didn't have any flavor! read more

Was craving some quick and easy Chinese Takeout and Jade Palace definitely satisfied my cravings! I went 15 minutes before they closed, and they were able to whip up 3 delicious dishes in less than 10 minutes! I ordered the orange chicken, salted fish fried rice, and salt and pepper pork ribs. The orange chicken was pretty standard, sweet with a fanta orange flavor and a lot of sauce. The rice was light and not too oily, a good palate cleanser. And the fried ribs were perfectly salty and deep fried. It came with a lot of meat and minimal bones. Everything tasted fresh, and I'll definitely come back for the ribs. read more

You can't go wrong with Jade palace. Urban Bay Area Chinese food classic establishment. Everything is delicious here and worth trying. The party trays are always a huge hit, exceedingly packed enough to satisfy the largest of parties. Never been here before, and will never go back as my Kung Pao Chicken with Fried Rice had almost no chicken in it ($18? give me a break!) and they obviously replaced the chicken with an inordinate amount of salt. And there was more sauce than anything else, it was almost like a soup there was so damn much sauce and it was S.A.L.T.Y. I mean this was almost inedible there was so much salt in it, and it had me craving water the rest of the day. Given there are no tables (to go only) and the place looks pretty dumpy , I would at least expect a hidden gem of tasty food, but it was not to be... have had many many more tasty Chinese lunches for less money around the Bay Area, and this does not rank anywhere near the top. read more

I stopped by hoping to enjoy the dry-fried ribs I used to love from this place years ago. Back then, they were perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing. I specifically asked that the ribs be cooked to order, yet my food was ready in less than two minutes. The first order was extremely greasy and tasted old. I sent it back and received a replacement, but it was just as bad--mostly fried skin and still dripping with oil. The meat was dark instead of golden brown and I arrived a little after 11 am so everything should have been fresh at that hour. Here is an example of the quality issue: the majority of my dried fried ribs had little to no meat on them--just bone, excessive salt, and grease. I've been coming to this place for over five years, and the quality of the food has dramatically declined. What used to be flavorful and satisfying is now overly salty, greasy, and careless. This was really disappointing, especially from a place I used to enjoy and support for so long. I ordered the chicken and beef broccoli teriyaki, and it was almost inedible. Probably my favorite Chinese spot in the town! Mainly for their amazing lemon pepper chicken nuggets! So good. Anytime I'm visiting my boyfriend I always make him stop because something about the way they make it. It's made to order so always fresh and hot, crunchy can be greasy if you eat it right away but let them sit for a minute and you're good. Chicken is always tender and cooked thoroughly. Staff is a miss for me all the way. I always feel rushed when I'm here and they just don't seem happy to service people. The prices are on the higher side. So expect to pay a little something. However, Jade Palace earns 5 stars from My 2 experiences. The first time The Hubby and I were visiting his dear friend who residesin The'O', and we all loved it, the second time My Pops came up to visit a friend, so the Fam met him there, and they all loved it. It's a take-out spot, so there's no dining in. You can see the kitchen from the counter you order and pick up from. It appears they're busy from open to close. The food is flavorful and the portions are large, all while keeping prices reasonable. I love businesses who consider their patrons! I have been a customer for OVER 15 years. DEAR Jade Palace owners, your business has THRIVED in a predominantly Black community for probably over 40 years. You can not mistreat customer complaints that are valid & respectfully disappointed. One of your most popular items has always been your Salt & Pepper dry fried ribs. As a matter of fact those ribs & your House fried rice are LITERALLY the ONLY two items I have ordered for 15 years, so I am qualified to say the the poor quality of the dry fried ribs in my party tray order, yesterday, HAS DECLINED. The quality of the meat cuts was drastically different. Short, over fried, triangular pieces are not what we have been getting over the years. They were almost chicharones! They were fried so hard, that the color of the batter coating was darkened, and they were not the "perfect, golden, long rib pieces" that we are used to seeing! Then, being argumentative and bringing out a fresh batch of MORE over fried triangles to "compare" to my order is generally NOT good customer service tactics, NOT EVER. AND to top it off, replacing the order with Fewer pieces in the party tray is also retaliation & POOR choice. I get it. The neighborhood can have rough customers that may not be pleasant in their complaints either, BUT please learn to differentiate between THOSE types and a valued customer that has been a patron OVER 15 years. You HAVE to know you changed the meat cuts quality and probably don't have fresh oil, which is contributing to the over fried, darkened ribs. Even the presentation of the jalapeños & onion topping was lacking. Yelling "ITS ON THE BOTTOM " and pushing the tray back as though it was not going to be replaced is RUDE. How about just admitting it's close to the end of the night and just SAY WE SOLD OUT, instead of charging me for a heap of NOT what you normally serve. Got catering for a holiday party and it was extremely affordable and timely. I was able to order 3 weeks and advance and the entire party really enjoyed the food. I hate some specific requests for low sodium and oil (as I was catering to a crowd of seniors), and the staff at Jade Palace followed through. This place is nostalgic for me and growing up we'd get Chinese food from here. It might have been the closest Chinese take out before Ly-Luck came about. Definitely a hole in the wall, but has undergone a facelift, including bulletproof glass. Also one of the few Chinese places they don't make for gweilos. It being so cold recently, I wanted some soup for lunch and chow fun. I ended up calling to order(a novel concept I know) as I was having issues with online ordering. 15 minutes and $25 later I was brought back to sitting in my mid 70s themes kitchen. Chicken wonton soup and combo chow fun (dry). Ok, so I was eating at my desk. The place has been a around for at least 40 years and the food is still as good. I ordered the prawn egg foo young along with the chicken chow fun the chicken chow fun was fine but the shrimp egg foo young tasted like it was powdered eggs or something I called about it because they also did not put the shrimp inside the patty just in gravy in a container it was not tasty at all when I returned it after calling I ordered the salt and pepper prawns, and the owner cut the amount of shrimp that I get because she said it wasn't her fault and also did it as an à la carte order and would not give me the fried rice that comes with a regular order. I thought that was very petty, and she began to raise her voice at me and I said that was OK and left. I got really sick from the contamination of the food. This was not a good thing for me which left me sick for many days.

Jade Palace is one of my son's favorites and we've ordered food from here several times. After a hike this Saturday I was so tired I didn't feel like cooking. I ordered Spicy Chicken Fried Rice and Shrimp Egg Rolls using their simple online system. By the time I got to the restaurant, my food was ready and all I had to do was pay. I got home and my fried rice was hot and flavorful, just yummy. The egg rolls were crunchy and delicious. I have no pictures this time because honestly I was so tired I just sat on the couch and ate out of the containers. Next time The location is super cute and convenient.
