My grandfather and a lot of family members love this small but well placed Chinese restaurant. The waiters were really nice to my diverse family. We felt welcomed. The buffet is kind of small but the price is super affordable. You can take as much stuff as you want though and take many trips to the buffet containers then to your table to eat etc. I really liked their soups and the seafood items. The restaurant is pretty roomy and has tables with lots of seats to accommodate groups of people. Overall it's an average and decent restaurant.

This place has been around for YEARS !!!!!! I remember coming here back in the 80s. The food was better then, but there are still some dishes that are not bad. I usually stick to the Authentic Chinese dishes, they are done better than the Americanized Chinese options. I did not like their sushi, pizza, noodles, soups, etc. But if you are looking to try some of their stewed meats, bbq dishes, dumplings, mussels and salt n pepper shrimp. It is not bad. The display is huge...they have salads, vegetarian dishes, noodles, rices, soups, pizza, sushi, desserts, ice cream, fruit, pudding, dim sum, bbq dishes, congee, seafood, wings, you name it...... As of early August 2016, the lunch price is CAD$ 11.85. Not a bad deal ! Located right on the pedestrian area (Rue de la Gauchetiere).

Jardin de Jade's buffet is open every day of the week. Not only that, this huge Chinatown venue is a banquet facility, and handles dim sum service and karaoke, to boot. Friends and I trooped in for lunch one Sunday, and despite the crowd of locals and tourists, were seated quickly. There's no Americanized Chinese food in their buffet (uh, you're not in the US), you'll instead find numerous tasty, traditional Cantonese and Szechuan options, including atypical items like Chinese sausage, beef egg stew, congee (yes, like the soup), breadsticks, and PIG FEET - I love pig feet; theirs tasted somewhat sweet! Typical buffet dishes and desserts are there like lo mein, pizza, hot dogs, pudding, jello, and little cakes. For all the quality food you're going to eat, their pre-tip price-per-head - about C$10; 15% tip expected - is an appetizing bargain. (Credit cards accepted.) Jardin de Jade is a buffet to be reckoned with - stop in!

Tried this two times and each time it was a complete disappointment. Pretty much all the items have pork. So if you don't eat/like pork then you are doomed. The food is mediocre if not less than mediocre. They have "sushi" which is like plastic rice with some veggies. It looks so nasty that you would think twice before eating it :/ the foods are clearly not cooked with care! You can see this in the way they put the dishes. There is no proper marking of what is what in many cases. all the dumpling had pork. The only thing that i liked (the only option I had) was the fried fish, soup, coffee. It's not worth the money. And while having food one waitress stopped by and said to put coins/tips on the table instead of giving at the cashier. Not going again

Bao! There's the buffet in the back, but the store in the front is a dedicated bun aka "bao" pumping machine for to-go orders. You can smell the sweet fluffy bread from a block away. They have meat and veggie buns and of course the classic b.b.q. pork bun aka "char siu bao." They aren't like the ones you get at dim sum. These bad boys are big, like Costco-big, like size of a baby's head-big. Eat a couple of these baos, and you're stuffed. Tips: You gotta know what you want. It's crazy Canto style up in there. They also sell some dim sum.

Absolutely below average buffet. I would not recommend this to anyone who enjoy Chinese buffets in the states side.

Service was great! Can't complain. The BYOW is still in effect so they come and open the bottle of wine you bring for you and bring out glasses. I just really am mixed .. the soups were cold as hell .. my miso soup was still cold. My food was bland and just mediocre .. sushi rice was a lil stale I was trying to revitalize it by dunking the crap out of it in Spicy mayo and soya sauce Lolol The kimchi was awful. But then they had delicious tender grilled chicken and delicious crispy shrimps so the food was mixed .. it felt weird because not everything was consistent. It was alright decent ish but what you expect for an AYCE .. I guess I was hoping it would live up or exceed to their old name. Changing owners definitely didn't serve this place justice. Not sure I'll be back maybe who knows lol Cheers

I said I wasn't going to do it on this last visit, but I broke down. I'm talking about going to…read morethe buffet at Saveurs des Continents, the apparent new name for Buffet des Continents. The newer name means "flavors of the continents" when translated into English and that probably has a better ring to it than the previous name. The dishes here go all the way from 2 to 5 stars, so that averages out to 3.5 stars, which isn't so bad considering how much choice they offer. Mostly I take from the Canadian-North American, Italian, Greek, and Middle Eastern food. They also have a staffed grill where they can cut you a nice little slab of meat. They have a section with Asian food and I also noticed a sushi area, the latter of which is beyond my line of demarcation. This is why, as I've said on the previous review, you will be breaking bread with people from 5 continents. (Should there be a token Australian in attendance, that would take it up to 6 continents.) The service at Saveurs des Continents is fine. Be sure to engage the server in such a way that they don't forget you and won't clean off your table while you are going up to the buffet line to get another plate of food. (I've had that happen up at St. Jerome once, and the place was far from full.) In this case, the server and I spoke Spanish and he didn't mind at all because, after all, this is Montreal and it subscribes to the concept of a "cultural mosaic." Bring it on. There is also a person who will come around to take a drink order, but I go with the included coffee or tea. With all that said, the pricing scheme is fair. It is slightly different depending on the time of the day and day of the week. The pricing includes a gratuity to the tune of about 12.5%, if I recall correctly, that they distribute to the employees. You are free to give your server a little bit more if you choose to. So, in revisiting Saveurs des Continents, I'm going to go with 4 stars. They offer a lot of food choices across a broad spectrum, fair pricing, decent service, and a unique brand of quirkiness and diversity that you don't easily forget. Also, with REM joining the Metro system and Exo commuter trains, this newer light rail system can take you from the city to the south shore. Your stop will be the Panama station and, from there, there is a pedestrian underpass and path that goes to the shopping center with this buffet. One thing is that it will be easier to get back home with the light rail and not think of having to adjust your tilt steering wheel upward. Finally, if this American manages to come in here once on each visit to Montreal area, then this Saveurs des Continents is more realistically a 4 star sort of place.

I thought I had pre-booked a reservation, and we were running late. Parking in this area can be a trick. I dropped my wife off and continued to locate parking. She contacted me and said there was no reservation. I panicked as I parked my truck and sifted through my emails for a confirmation. I hustled the 0.4 miles back to her. When I went in the hostess said it wouldn't be a problem and brought us to a table. My wife later told me she was offered tea while she waited. The waiter was on spot. He knew their menu and provided us with his insights. All the food was Devine. Beautifully laid out and brought out each course in the perfect time. My wife loved the hibachi, she doesn't eat much in general and I do most of the cooking at home. She couldn't get enough of putting items in the hibachi and moving them around. Guess I need a hibachi at home lol. Also my wife is 86 pounds, so she gets cold easy. The hibachi was the perfect personal heater too!! We had a great time together. The ambiance had that perfect Japanese appeal, while still modern. I used to live in Japan so I can be skeptical when it comes to Japanese flair & food. This establishment did not disappoint. So if you are in Montreal, I highly recommend giving this place a go. Side note, pricing is very reasonable considering what is included in packages. And the Saki I had was delicious and looking it up for the going rate they make around $5 per bottle based on what they sell it for and market retail price (place around the corner up charges 110%). So you are more than getting what you pay for in my opinion. And sometimes you just cannot put a price on excellent service! We will definitely be returning when we venture. To Montreal again.

Service was very attentive although the kitchen was quite slow. Our appetizers came 1 hour after our meats arrived, which was a bit strange. Ambiance is a bit cold since the tables are so close to the doors, so we constantly felt a gust of cold air during our visit.
