It's been awhile since our last visit to Jacob's Noodle & Cutlet. They do Japanese and Korean dishes, but specialize in katsu. Busy on a Monday (lunchtime) but we were seated quickly. There's a couple of lunch specials (11:00am to 3:00pm). Nice that they bring out sesame seeds for you to grind. We ordered four lunch specials ($17.00 each) and a salmon oshi ($16.50). Lunch specials come with miso soup, salad, tempura and rice. Chicken cutlet was better than the pork. Grilled beef was better than the chicken. Spring rolls were run of the mill. Tempura was lightly fried and filling. Green salad was refreshing. Salmon oshi was okay but packed with too much rice. read more

Was in town here and decided to try this place. It had a lot of high reviews both on Yelp and Google so I came in with high expectations. Had the lunch Special A Combo for $17 and that was already a good deal. It came with the house salad, assorted tempura, pork cutlet, rice and 3 different sauces. The breading on both the tempura and cutlets were crispy, flakey and crunchy all at the same time the way cutlet and tempura are supposed to be. The pork was tender and juicy and cut pretty thick. Salad was fresh and the dressing was refreshing with a ginger lemony flavour. Went on a Tuesday at lunch and they were pretty busy but the two lovely servers were always smiling and very attentive. I would go as far to say this place is as good as Saku and Katsuya in terms of quality for the pork cutlets. Can't compare anything else. But definitely worth going back to and trying other items! read more

Great little restaurant with proper covid-19 protocols - staff wore mask, gloves, and had sanitizers upon entrance. The seats/tables were quite far apart and it looked very clean. There were only 2 other customers when we got there but it was understandable; it was either that we were having lunch around 2pm or not many people are eating out just yet. Everything was excellent - the service, food and ambience. It reminded us of a place in Portland, OR that had a similar setup. We ordered two sets of katsu combo (special A & B) - one chicken and the other pork. These were on their lunch specials and it was around $13; if my memory serves me right. The portions were huge - protein + rice + miso soup + assorted tempura (2x large prawns, sweet potatoes & zucchini or cucumber) + green salad. The rice portion was small, which is perfect because the serving of the meal is very generous. The tempura wasn't even oily and I really enjoyed it. We were surprised to find a cutlet/katsu place existed in downtown Kamloops. Jacob's Noodle & Cutlet does a mix of Japanese and Korean eats. We dropped in on an early Monday for lunch (11:00am). We were the only ones there till a few more parties began to trickle in around noon. Service is friendly and attentive. Menu is split into appetizers, soup & salad, tempura, donburi, udon, yakiudon & yakisoba, teriyaki, ramyun, cutlet/katsu, combos, Korean food (bulgogi, bibimbap and sundubu) and lunch/dinner specials. So many options but really, you should focus on the cutlet/katsu. You get to grind your own sesame seeds at the table. Our dishes also came with two katsu sauces and a tempura dipping sauce. - Pork cutlet combo ($14.95) - deep fried pork cutlet, veggie udon and cheese don roll. It also came with a side salad topped with a potato coleslaw. Pork cutlet was excellently breaded but a touch overcooked. That unfortunately resulted in a dry bite which even the sauces couldn't save. Veggie udon broth was clean but bland. Never seen bean sprouts in an udon before. There were three pieces of cheese roll; surprisingly good. Melted cheese, avocado and meat. - Lunch special B ($13.50) - Deep fried chicken cutlet, rice, miso soup, salad and tempura. Chicken cutlet was again excellently breaded but this time the meat was juicy. Get this over the pork cutlet. Nice touch with fresh green onions in the miso soup. The five pieces of tempura consisted of two shrimp, two yam and a zucchini. Lightly battered and not too oily. Decent find for katsu/cutlets at JNC. 3.5 stars. read more

Back in Kamloops and stopped by around 4 on a weekday. This time around I opted for the cutlet and roll combo. At $12.95, it is good value and I liked the presentation. The pork cutlet was perfectly cooked. Unfortunately there were multiple pieces of the shell of the prawn in the dynamite roll which was not pleasant to chew. I pointed this out to the server and the cook and they did nothing. It was not a positive food experience and if I return to Kamloops, I will not be back to eat here. read more

Was looking forward to visit this place , one it is highly rated on yelp and second people recommended it ! Landed up @ 630 pm for dinner , place was jam packed but may be due to less tables, 6/7 tables in total . After 2 minutes was given a small table for 2 . Menus were presented and the server was nice to explain the specials . I was also watching what most tables were served , so after scrutinizing the menu n server suggestion I zeroed on Pork cutlet combo which is served with a noodles soup , a big crispy pork cutlet , salad and cheese don roll with 2 house dipping sauces . A wonderful find in Kamloops! Great atmosphere - energy and running servers. We had the Korean beef and the chicken cutlet on big fat noodles and both were excellent. This restaurant is a hidden gem in kamloops. The place is clean and cozy. The staff are friendly and attentive. I ordered the chicken cutlet and seaweed salad. I did not expect to have 2 pcs of cutlets with my order. With other restaurants you only get one. They have 2 different sauces for you to dip the crunchy, tasty, and perfectly fried chicken cutlet. in kamloops on a biz trip my colleagues highly recommended this place for a good japanese ramen and korean food... since we got here mid afternoon from vancouver, i was so hungry that i said : "lets go" walked in and immediately i had the sense it was going to be good. the place advertised their specialty for cutlets, ramen, and korean rice dishes. so naturally, i orderd the lunch cutlet special. came with a pork chop cutlet. perfectly breaded and in symetrical shape, juicy in the middle and not dry. had rice, salad, and 2 pcs tempura and 3 pcs veg tempura. presentation was amazing! dish started out with you being given 3 diff cutlet sauces. soy, sweet and tangy, and something sharp and gingery. then you were given something that resembles a mortar and pestel with sesame seeds. so you had to grind your own seeds and then sprinkle it on the sauces. very nice touch in my opinion. everything came hot and fresh and service with a smile. the place had a broad range of clientele , which included japanese and korean students. to me this is a good sign!! my other buddies ordered seafood ramen and their bowl was brimming with mussels, shrimp, tofu, and had 2 tempura shrimp for topping. my only comment was the noodles usd for the ramen was not ramen noodles but egg instant noodles. but i could smell the the broth and it smelled really rich . anyhow, when in kamloops, i suggest to give this place a go. there is something good in here for everyone! cheers! happy eating! read more

We decided to stop by Kamloops to eat and after a spending a good amount of time on Google trying to find a place we finally came across Jacob's Noodle & Cutlet. We decided to head there since we both wanted Asian food. We came right before dinner time so there wasn't that many people. There was a lot of great options. My boyfriend got the katsu/sushi combo and I got the ramen combo. I really wish I got my own katsu because it was really good. The meat was tender and really enjoyed the tray of sauces. Delicious, thoughtful dishes, well constructed. The online experience was a bit rough but we found enough photos of the menu to make it work. Walked in with an order on a piece of paper and walked out 15 minutes later. Staff are surfer friendly and are taking all the COVID precautions seriously. We had gyoza (excellent filling, pan fried until just crispy and served with a tangy soy vinaigrette), miso soup (deep and rich comfort food), chicken cutlet (perfectly fried, moist chicken not too greasy), beef bibimbab (just excellent), and a California Roll that had the best crab meat I think I've ever had. Wow! What a pleasant surprise! Since we experienced bad korean food in Banff, we had low expectations but surpassed it way much. My Kelowna friends decided to visit me today. I suggested this place to try. We got there at about 5pm on a Tuesday night. We ordered the pork cutlet combo, chicken udon combo, gomae, agedashi tofu, and a large sake. Background: I'm Asian. I have extensive Asian cuisine eating experience from my travels across Asia and Canadian Metropolitan areas. Ambiance: The restaurant looks like it took over another eatery or a cafe shop. The ceiling is nice and high with beautiful designs. Nice red brick walls as a backdrop. The open concept kitchen can be seen by the whole restaurant's patrons. Over all it feels roomy but cozy at the same time. There are about 8 tables so not too big of a restaurant. We were given disposable chopsticks, which is typical of Asian joints. Service: Great. We were greeted when we opened the door and was offered to be seated anywhere in the restaurant. Our water was promptly refilled throughout our meal. The chefs even waved to us as we leave! Cleanliness: The tables and washrooms are very clean. Taste: Very good. It doesn't taste manufactured and it was not overly salty. Seasoning was done in a 'just-right' manner. The awesomes: The pork cutlet was marinated with really good seasoning. It is nice and crunchy and soft in the inside. The two dipping sauce provided was really tasty. The udon soup was very nice and not too salty. The ok's: The cheese roll is actually a sushi roll with melted cheese on top. It is different but not spectacular. Gomae and agedashi tofu tastes standard. The bugolgi tastes very good but unfortunately there is not a lot of sauce underneath so parts of the beef is burnt by the hot plate. Sake: typical Gekkeikan taste. The sake was warmed to perfect temperature. Portion: Really decent for me (to compare, I'm 5'2 and about 110lbs). Price: the combos and beef bugolgi are about $14 each and the large sake is about $7.50. Overall: Definitely will revisit again. I went on a trip to Kamloops for a month and I found this restaurant through the internet. The food was so delicious that I came back at least three times before I left town. Their food is all home made, so everything tastes really fresh. The waitresses are so nice and even the chiefs waved us goodbye. I love noodles but I am unfortunately gluten free. This place was very flexible and changed the ingredients around so I was able to eat almost every dish. Rice noodles in my favorite soup was like heaven to me. My favorite two dishes are the spicy seafood udon and the mayo don. I had spicy seafood udon in many different places, but nowhere had this much seafood in it. If you visit or live in Kamploops, you HAVE to try this place. read more

Just opened about a month ago. Small place with a good atmosphere. Just staying form the night in Kamloops. The service was simple and fast. The cutlet was moist and the udon portion was enough for an 8 year old. Tempura was nice and hot with just the right amount of batter. Overall a good meal! Came here again for dinner this time and tried the special which was the bibimbap. Like wise, I have ate plenty of bibimbap's from lots of places but this places bibimbap I would rank it near the top when compared to some places that I have tried. The usual, it comes in a piping hot stone bowl ( if you were to lay a finger on it your finger would most likely fall off). As normal it is, it's sizzling when it arrives but after some time the sizzling dissipates, but after eating this one it seemed that the bowl was heated so hot that after HALF of my portion was done its still sizzling! I wasn't even eating that fast either. Throughout my whole meal it tasted very good and there remained a good heat to the portion that was given. I got beef with the normal assortment of things that come in a bibimbap. The beef had good flavor, no chewy pieces and it was also tender as well. Everything about this dish was pretty spot on and very tasty. I can definitely see there's quality in the food at this place and they cook with care. Overall not bad, but just not great like I was expecting after reading previous reviews my boyfriend and I stopped here for a late lunch while on the road to Vancouver. This place is located downtown Kamloops. It's super quaint and clean which I love. They serve a combination of Korean and Japanese food. I opted for lunch special "E" which came with a stirfry of sprouts, a few pieces of veggies over rice with a very light teriyaki sauce. I found it to be bland. It was topped with small cubes of deep fried tofu (think agedashi tofu) which was decent. As well, it came with a bowl of miso soup (which although tasted fine, did not come with any seaweed), plus a very small shaved salad with dressing and four pieces of veggie tempura which was prepared well. My boyfriend had the fried pork cutlet udon soup. I didn't try any but he said it was tasty. Service was great but sadly food didn't love up to my expectation. read more
