We were seated for a long time before we were even brought water. The guests after up ordered before us and got their food first while we were sitting there waiting. I ordered a miso and an appetizer first and they never came. We sat and watched some our food on the counter for 10 minutes before the server brought it to us saying they were waiting for the miso soup... we finished our rolls and dinner box and the miso and appetizer still never came. The nigiri that came with the box arrived after we had finished everything.Very disappointing especially since there was only 2 tables in the restaurant. I come here with my daughter maybe twice a month . I love their salmon nigiri, their salmon is so big , and so fresh . They are also very friendly and accommodating . I ordered salmon nigiri and dynamite rolls separately , and when they brought me the bill they only changed me for dynamite combo which ended up being so much cheaper. I almost didn't want to write a review for Sushi Kawa because I don't want everyone finding out about it! At the time of this review, it has only been open for a few months. We went for dinner last week, and we found the service and food delivery to be speedy, and the quality/taste of the food to be excellent. The only negative I can say about this place is that because it is right on Highway 97, parking is a bit tricky. It can be tough to find street parking. We parked about a block away and walked through the lumpy alley past the dumpsters. Going for all-you-can-eat sushi, one generally expects mediocre quality. Something edible, but not as good as when you're buying rolls individually. Previously we had been going to Misato's Kitchen in Kelowna for all you can eat, which was acceptable, but not stellar. Now when we feel like doing all-you-can-eat sushi, we will DEFINITELY be going to Sushi Kawa instead. For only $20 the quality is amazing! I enjoyed all of the rolls I had. Yes, the quantities they bring per order are quite small, but I love that. I hate being forced to commit to six pieces of sushi on an all-you-can-eat, because I get full quickly and don't get to sample the variety. Besides, if you know you want a ton of food all in one go, or a lot of one kind of roll, you can always order several. There didn't seem to be any restrictions on how many rolls or how many of each kind a table could put in on each order slip. I don't really understand any complaint about tiny portions and leaving hungry -- if you are hungry and want 12 of a roll that comes with only two pieces, order 6! Great atmosphere, fun and friendly. There's a wide variety of options available. It appears that they've designed the all you can eat menu to allow one to order a bunch of different types to enjoy. It's very reasonably priced at 14.95 for lunch and 19.95 for dinner. They have a rule for the all you can eat that you can only check offset items per sheet (a white and a yellow sheet) and you can only do it 3 times. I challenge you to eat 30, (yes thirty) items in one sitting. It'll be hard! Has been bought out. Kept the same name not all you can eat and only half the menu for double the cost. Used to pay about 50$ for 2 without drinks. Now yes about 90$ for portions not unlimited. Just not right plus half of my favorites are gone. read more

My 9 year old son and I went to Sushi Kawa for dinner. It was fantastic!! The menu is HUGE, and the food was fresh, delicious, and just the right size! I was very impressed with the staff and their prompt service. This is a great place to take kids that like sushi as you can order rolls 2-3 pcs at a time. We will be back! read more

The a la carte All You Can Eat lunch menu is to die for at $14.95. All food was great, you can mix & match sushi, hot food, even have sunimono etc included. Haven't done sushi all-you-can-eat in years due to typical low quality volume sushi, was very impressed. Great service too! i really enjoyed myself here! we came for dinner, though it felt more like a 'lunch place', i really enjoyed my meal. everything came quite quickly, and remained good quality. the prices are average for a buffet-esque meal. also, the servers are very friendly and the atmosphere is very serene! i adore the layout and the plants within the restaurant as well. read more

Not a bad spot, very reasonable all you can you eat pricing with good assortment of options. The food was delivered very quickly and as other commented, not high end by any means but definately decent food for the price. Favorites in our group of 7 were the seaweed salad, spicy tuna and soicy salmon rolls - simple but tasty! They had a deep fried roll that was unique. I would eat here again and the restaurant was recommended to us by 2 staff from a local hotel as being the top spot in town. Very busy place, so that was a good sign food was fresh. read more

My brother recommended this place for the all you can eat, and, to be honest, I thought 'How good could a sushi place be in Vernon?' I've had some great sushi before and I wasn't expecting Sushi KaWa to meet that standard. I was dead wrong! It was, honestly, equal to the best sushi I have ever had. The restaurant was busy on the Saturday afternoon we went, but the staff was great, and, very quickly after putting in our first order, the food arrived. The tempura was so fresh that it was too hot to touch at first... exactly how tempura should be! As the food arrived I was realizing that this was top quality sushi with top quality playing presentation. Really, for plates that must come out differently each time based on each order, the presentation was right on. The stand out item had to be the deep fried Ocean Roll, which was perfect with the sauce they drizzled on top and a small piece of ginger. Delicious! The only thing I might say was slightly disappointing was the Chicken Katsu... very underwhelming and small. It just seemed unappealing compared to the other items which were consistently fantastic. The sauce could have been much better. I will definitely be back, and I will definitely be bringing friends... now I just have to convince my Japanese wife to enjoy Japanese food... read more

My partner and I went to Sushi Kawa for dinner. Nice atmosphere and fast, friendly service. Unfortunately the sushi was not very good, even for an AYCE restaurant. There was very little variety in the maki rolls that were available, even if you were willing to pay extra for special rolls. Most of the rolls were slight variations of california roll or dynamite roll, both of which were stuffed with a lot of creamy imitation crab salad and a very small sliver of other ingredients (cucumber or shrimp). The spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls were better, but completely covered in sauce which sort of ruined them. Our favourite rolls on the menu ended up being the regular salmon roll and regular tuna roll simply because they weren't covered in extra sauce or crab salad. As mentioned in other reviews, you pay an extra $5.00 if you want sashimi, which is very small but tasty. There is also a limit on how many pieces of sashimi you can order (15/person). The nigiri was also small but there was no limit on how much you could order. Seaweed salad was an extra .99 per order. Overall, we were pretty disappointed with the sushi and the extra charges given the poor selection. If you are used to AYCE sushi in other cities you might also be disappointed. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was nice, so the overall experience was more pleasant than the food itself. read more

the service is great there, you are seated right away and they are very attentive which is always a plus, unfortunately, the food is just awful. It takes a while to get to you, and when it does its very boring, not much choice on the AYCE and they use ALOT of rice to try and fill you up, and even asking if they could use less rice they continued to serve it with the same amount and when I started to take the rice off I was informed I was going to be charged for the rice being a left over. WAS NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL. The quality of fish is not great and they slice it super thin so you pretty much get none when you order maki ect. and its warm? I have been eating sushi for 10 years now and its supposed to be a little on the cool side, not WARM! (EW!) Its pretty expensive for the quality of the food, I wont be coming back and do not recommend it. I have been there three times in hopes that I just came on a bad day or something, but no, it really just isnt good. read more
