After reading reviews and having KAYA walking distance from our hotel we decided to give it a try. So glad we did, and we'll be telling all our friends and family to check this gem out. It's in a strip mall, but don't let that deter you from enjoying fine fare across the highway from the Kelowna airport. Is it possible for you to open another location closer to our house in the LM? Please! It's that good folks, don't let the naysayers keep you away. It's not a large place, but surrounded by booths with tables in the middle, it's very clean, nicely appointed and bright. We were greeted warmly, and arriving 45 minutes prior to closing we were reminded that we had plenty of time to enjoy our meal, which was a nice change in mindset close to closing. The spicy Miso is a must try if you like Miso, it was SO good, and not too spicy. We'll be making it at home this way from now on. $10.00 of the bottle of Stoneleigh on Mondays was a find for the lovely K, as it's her favourite. The Chicken Yakisoba was delicious and plentiful, I could not tuck it all away, even wanting to do so. K's Shoyu Ramen with Chasi was equally good, and also a good sized bowl. The service was excellent with Wena (who we were told was training) looking after us. She was very attentive in all regards. We would 100% recommend this amazing place if you are in the neighbourhood, and even if you have to drive from Kelowna proper. We can't wait to come again. I came back a couple days later and had lunch here after our great dinner of a couple nights ago. I wanted to try one of the lunch Bento boxes as they did not have them on the dinner menu. Again added the hot Miso soup which is so good. Lunch did not disappoint either. This will be a go to every time we are in the Kelowna area. read more

Black cod was smooth and melt in your mouth like butter and almost as good as one I had in Vancouver many years ago and haven't found one quite like it , but this is a close second. Really nice. Spent $50 on Sushi to only find hair embedded in my role. Called and complained only offered me credit then proceeded to tell me that I should've called them last night. Asked for a refund, the lady on the phone was understanding she said yes I can come in later that day to receive a refund. To only get a call back telling me that the owner is going to call me tomorrow because their hands are tied and they cannot offer what one of their employees had said to me that was discussed over the phone. We ordered the edamame, it came hot and with salt (5/5). We ordered the Spinach Salad which was also very flavorful and a decent portion size for an appetizer. The tofu noodle dish was okay, a little salty. For the sushi, we had the Volcano roll, the Rainbow Toll, and the Spicy Tuna. The Volcano roll was amazing, fresh fish, and great flavored sauces. Our waitress was extremely welcoming and made sure we understood each dish we ordered, after we opted NOT to go with the 3 person shared KAYA meal (various appies, entrees, etc,) We got the *Spicy Mango Prawn*, *Grilled Miso Black Cod*, *Kyoto Style Pork Belly Kakuni*, *Salmon Avocado Roll*, *Alaska Roll*. Spicy Mango Prawn: Delicious tempura style prawn with huge juicy chunks of mango and mixed salad at the bottom. Great sauce. Grilled Miso Black Cod: Delicate juicy fish, with flavourful skin, served with rice, miso soup, a slice of lemon and really intense little pieces of miso (?) that look like small beans. This was tasty but the $21 price tag for such a tiny piece of fish seemed a little outrageous! Pork Belly: This was served with a california roll which we didn't realize! PERK!!! WORTH IT!!!! And the pork belly was such fatty tender goodness. It was delicious but definitely heavy just for one person to eat. The waitress told us that the wasabi served inside the bowl but on the side could be mixed into the fatty pork broth to lighten the heavy fatty taste. I appreciated this tidbit of info, plus the potatoes and asparagus in the dish. Alaska Roll and Salmon and Alaska Roll: Both solid, delicious, fresh. Great quality salmon (it looked wild?). Didn't think it could be true, but Kelowna is rocking some good sushi joints! Definitely check this place out. read more

A great new addition to this growing shopping centre across the highway from the Kelowna airport. The decor was modern and comfortable. The service was friendly and helpful, they could use someone to bus tables as dirty dishes were left on our table for extended periods because our server was busy elsewhere. Prices are average/reasonable. The food was quite good and the menu had a good selection. The food options were a nice mix of classic and updated Japanese items; such as the caterpillar roll with a touch of blueberry sauce, I doubted it but it works! Try it! Also the potato karage, basically roasted/fried baby potatoes with curry salt but yummy and the potato lover at my table was happy. The gomae was tasty and fresh. A decent selection of vegetarian items and the fish eater in our group was happy with the calamari and salmon. All items were well plated. I imagine this place will continue to get busy as more locals find it, so if planning dinner I'd recommend a reservation. read more

Terrible service. Came in for lunch with our family and not only did they forget our wasabi/ginger. We reminded one of the staff (not our server as she was still busy) to grab the wasabi/ginger. I go to a lot of sushi places. This is quite possibly the best sushi I have ever had. Disclaimer: I was not even that hungry before arriving, which I feel is important to note since hunger makes everything taste better - clearly this sushi was just good. While waiting for family to arrive at the Kelowna airport we decided to grab dinner. Conveniently this spot is right across the road. We ordered my new favourite roll of all time: the Tora Roll (salmon, avocado, spicy mustard sauce, sweet soy sauce) and an amazing Matcha Creme Brûlée. I'm dying just thinking about it and we only just left. Please, if you're doing airport business, make your guests wait and grab a sushi roll. They will forgive you once they have a taste. read more

Although it was spicy and rich enough, it definitely needed that seared flavour. Also the agadeshi tofu was surprisingly tart. This restaurant by no means met my expectations. At the time of dining they had only been open for 2 weeks so I can come to some understanding for why my experience was terrible. Menus were made of cheap paper and looked like a 12 year old formatted them. They did not even have enough menus for our party of 4, even when there were only 3 other parties in the restaurant! Food took over 40 minutes to be prepared, again, even though there were only 3 other parties in the restaurant. The food came at different times in a very unorganized order with the appetizer coming midway through the meal. One of my party members never even got there food because we had to go somewhere else and we had already been seated for over an hour. The food was a solid 2.5 stars out of 5: Terrible considering the 30+ minutes it took to prepare. The batter for calamari/tempura was undercooked or too heavy. It felt as if the workers had very little experience. The entrees did not come with wasabi or ginger. The iced tea was instant powdered. The plus I can give this place is the setting and aroma.
